He's gone. Some really good teams are going to call on him.

Woodson isn’t starting from nothing either. If he can convince Duncomb to stay and allows Lander to play a style that suits him (also keep in mind he is YOUNG), then we can have a team that can get to the tournament. Parlay that into recruiting success and we are in business in year 2 or 3. One thing many either refuse to understand or refuse to admit, is that, there aren’t bad coaches in the NBA. Every coach in the NBA is one of the best in the world at their job. It’s why you see such a high fail rate amongst good college coaches who attempt the transition. Woodson being in the NBA for so long, is a testament to his ability as a coach. Also, kids don’t give a **** about the coaches age. Woodson gets Jamaal Crawford and Carmelo Anthony on a recruiting call, they’re not gonna care about his age, I promise you that. -

If it’s Woodson, I think we should wait to see what kind of staff he can put together, before we get our pitchforks out. Juwan Howard had zero head coaching experience and zero experience recruiting. He’s dominating right now. Woodson is highly respected amongst players and coaches in the NBA. If he can put together a high powered staff, I can absolutely see how young talent would want to come play for Woody. At this point, how much worse can it get than Archie? Bring on Woody. If he doesn’t work out, we can put the whole “IU needs an IU guy” theory to rest, for good. -

We can all look back into the past from the present and be right. But at the time Archie was hired he was considered a rising star by nearly everyone who is anyone. You can deny that all you want. -

Anoter thing that I’m probably looking into too much but notable. The athletic Dept was lightning quick to dispel the Matta rumors but did not and have yet to do the same regarding ANY of the Stevens rumors. Worrisome. -

We are a program in the toilet and somehow trending further downward, somehow. We just took one of the games consensus great young coaches, chewed him up, and spit him out. If we were misled into making a coaching change by Stevens, it’s a fatal blow. Dolson would be working from square one with no hot leads. Don’t forget the donors who ponied up the dough to make the transition. This is true and Dolson and the athletic Dept just likely burned up every dime of political capital they had. Just imagine for one second that you were given assurances that a certain guy was coming, if you could meet certain demands, you commit to potentially 8 figures of your money towards said guy, and the athletic Dept delivers Dane ******* Fife...... I’d never take another phone call. Neither would you. -

If the rumors about Stevens are true then we are truly doomed. I don’t want to believe them. He would have dealt a fatal blow, if true. -

That was my first thought before I had a single thought of him coaching IU. Makes me wonder why anyone would want to come here and deal with this ****. -

You realize the only reason that Thad Matta isn’t the coach of Ohio State, is because he could barely walk, right? The dude is about as much of a sure thing as you can get, if he is healthy. -
Hasnt Moser only made 2 tournaments in 20 years? I thought I heard that. Too lazy to look it up. If that’s the case..... please no!

I’m exhausted already and it’s only been a week. Think I need a break. Hopefully I’m pleasantly surprised. Gonna guess it’s John Beilein or Thad Matta. -
Is Indiana just UCLA at this point?
HoosierTrav replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yes. Except I believe UCLA has a higher ceiling going forward. This opinion is based solely on location and access to NBA superstars. -

No offense but Im not seeing this logic. *If there is a deal in place with a coach, I would guarantee that the team knows about it. Dolson got on a zoom call with Duncomb immediately after the firing of Archie. Why wouldn't they do the same to keep the roster intact? The longer this goes without the players knowing, the chances of them entering the transfer portal increases significantly. They will certainly know before Kendrick knows. I think some are looking into the timing of the two tweets more than they should be. -

Candidate Thread: Chris Beard (Texas Tech)
HoosierTrav replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I’m starting to align with you here. Drew or Mussleman. -
Texas Tech offense looks ugh. Arkansas is fun to watch. I’d love to see what Mussleman could do at Indiana.
-
I think you have grossly underestimated the level of apathy this fanbase has reached. It’s at an unprecedented level.
-
Your entitled to your opinion. But the fact is that there is nothing in his resume to suggest that he would succeed at Indiana, which is a much more difficult place to win than anywhere he’s been. Half the fan base would clock out for good if he was named.
-
I was being facetious.
-
Terrible hire. That’s what I meant. And I stand by that take. Fife would be an epic disaster at Indiana. Worse than Archie Miller.
