  1. I thought we folded already. This looks exactly like the last game against Rutgers. Get out to a big 1st half lead. Squander it and give Tutgers the momentum going into the 2nd half. I’m expecting this to be a blowout in the 2nd half. We have no guard play whatsoever. Ready for this to be over.
  2. Thanks for touching on this. I figured it would look something like this.
  3. Perhaps Pap or Chris can help me understand how things work with the fundraising perspective of this buyout. If I were cutting a check to buyout the current coach, I would absolutely want to have some assurances that we had a hot lead on someone I felt confident that we could get. Is this something that happens? Zero chance I fork big dollars out without having some idea who the realistic targets were. I find it hard to believe others wouldn’t be just as prudent with their money.
  4. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already but I’m almost certain, that if he decides to take time off, we can get off the hook for paying the buyout. I could be mistaken. I do remember Crean’s contract had provisions that required him to seek gainful employment. Also remember there being language in there that prohibited him from taking a lesser paying job, if other, more substantial offers were on the table. He could have ended up owing the university. I’m pretty sure CAM’s deal was structured similarly.
  5. I personally don't buy that. Cant think of anything that Indiana offers a coach that UL doesn't, other than maybe a better campus experience.
  6. Sounds to me like he's simply just hearing what we have to say. I don't view the IU job as better than U of 6, I guarantee he doesn't either.
  7. Yes. Last year he did. Not sure what the terms of the deal were though.
  8. I would be incredibly disappointed to find out they don't even call him this time around. You can't hit a shot if you don't take it.
  9. Does Indiana even make the call to Stevens?
  10. id be over the moon, as would many others. I think some get ptsd from someone who has a similar philosophy as CAM. Bennett is head and shoulders better than most coaches, let alone Archie Miller.
  11. That how I hire my salesman. Seriously.
  12. "Gee let me think.....Ummm....Sure" -Ace Ventura
  13. Just checking in. How bad is it ladies and gents?
  14. Same. I have a lot of faith in Dolson.
  15. Shame. Missed opportunity for a homegrown legend. He made the better choice though. Obviously.
  16. I would not complain, although I think Brad Stevens is a better coach and the perfect fit for Indiana. Bennett is tremendous as well and we’d be lucky to have him. Still get pissed when I think about Kyle Guy not wearing candy stripes.
  17. Putting the vibes into the universe. I dig it. Brad Stevens WILL be the next coach of our Indiana Hoosiers.
  18. Steele is another good one that Ive overlooked. Also has a pretty cool first name. Would I have to give up my brown banners handle to him?
  19. I'd hire him over Fife any day of the week. Comes from the Brad Stevens coaching tree and has NBA + College experience.
  20. Im just upset and being a petulant child. Ignore me half of the time and 100% of the time after another missed NCAA tournament.
  21. This is the most likely answer. That or revenues were down YoY.
  22. Good point that Ive not ever considered.
  23. Im sure the athletic dept is operating in the red. How much, none of us know. Them telling you they are down 40m could be a general reference to revenues, which is not the same as losses on a P & L. I would be shocked to hear that we spent anywhere near the same amount of money on operational costs. I'd be more than shocked actually. As inept as they are at running a basketball program, they are very shrewd from the business side of things. They aren't spending nearly as much in advertising, recruiting/recruiting travel, etc. I can tell you from experience that my business was negatively impacted by this last year. Between Covid, lockdowns, social unrest, the turbulent election cycle, and a very hard winter (hurts my business in particular) we were down. The one thing I cannot afford to do is quit spending! If I stop spending to improve my business and stay relevant in the eyes of the consumer, I'm insolvent in a matter of months. The university has a significant amount of resources that businesses like mine do not. If we are unable to hire a coach due to factors such as them having little to no interest, that's one thing. It would be insurmountable. But if the university wants to save money now and put another lame duck coach on the sidelines for the next 4-6 years, it will cost them multiples of what they were trying to save. It will start to rear its ugly head in a matter of a few short years. The entire university will be negatively impacted, not just the athletic dept. or the basketball program in particular. Organizations/Corporations have overcome much more dire circumstances than what the university is dealing with now. With the right leadership, finding the money to pay the right guy, is not something that is impossible. I hope they are thinking forward here. I will say that I don't envy the position they are in.
