If Beilein was indeed the guy, why wouldn’t he have been announced yet? It’s vitally important to get our guy and get him in as quickly as possible. Not only to retain as much of the current roster but to fill the remaining scholarships with immediate impact transfers. I’m taking the position that Dolson knows who he’s getting already. So a Beilein hire just doesn’t make sense. I could be wrong. I’m going with my gut in this one and saying that we get our golden boy.

Beilein wins immediately upon landing at Indiana and leaves us in much better position to land a suitable replacement when he’s ready to call it quits. We can do much worse than Beilein, imho. I’m over here gnawing my fingers to the bone, worrying about us hiring Alford or Fife. I’d be happy with coach Beilein.

Doesn’t matter who views us as a blue blood. We are a blue blood. Was Alabama no longer a blue blood before Saban? Indiana with the right coach, is immediately a national power brand. Look at who we’ve been able to recruit here while we were down. The Indiana name carries weight. Only thing missing has been a competent coach on the sidelines. To answer your question: This needs to be a massive hire for a few reasons. One being that we have botched the last 4 hires. Another being that we’ve already tried the lesser known and lesser accomplished guys, to no avail. Thirdly, and mainly bc this job has evolved into perhaps the most pressure cooker job in America. It’s going to take the right guy who can handle the heat here and create momentum, then know what to do with it when the whistle blows. This program is at risk, more than ever, of losing a large portion of its fanbase to apathy. Time to stop dicking around and get a winner.

We are getting absolutely trashed on social media for thinking we are getting a legit coach. I really hope we can shove it back in these peoples faces.

He is certainly of the Lord.

He did ok. This job is an absolute meat grinder. If a guy can’t win in the horizon league, then he’s definitely not winning at freakin Indiana. It’s really that simple. Stevens won big at butler and in short order. If my memory serves me correctly, I’m pretty sure Stevens started as a head coach 2 years after Fife. We cannot hire Fife. It would be an epic disaster.

Not a fan of this type of argument. Stevens only played at Depauw. Fife played at IU. Who’s the better coach?

And won as a head guy. Fife did OK at IPFW and people try to twist themselves into a pretzel finding reasons to justify why he’s ready for this job. This job would eat him alive, just like it did Archie Miller (who I think is much better than Fife).
