His defensive deficiencies can be hidden well in that 2-3.

Me too, to an extent. He’s being a bit hypocritical by saying he didn’t leave North Carolina when things got tough but he did leave Kansas immediately after a national runner up and didn’t have to miss a year. I think it’s ridiculous that these coaches ignore the blatant hypocrisy within the system. Things change. Adapt or die (figuratively).

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff
HoosierTrav replied to Hoosierfan1901's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I wouldn't worry too much about staff. One of them is coaching in the final four this weekend and the other wont be Sean May. My guesses based off Woody stating to Dakich that the staff was just as important as retaining the players. He gets it. Lewis and Adams would be my guess. No idea as to who the DOBO would be. Hoping someone like Moye or Guyton. -
Same. I love players that play with an attitude.

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff

Things are a changin in Bloomington. Every great basketball mind that ever played or coached under Bob Knight (there's A LOT!), is now gonna be readily available as a resource. Seems like the entire IUBB family has been woken and mobilized for the first time since Knight's departure. -
My idea of a perfect scenario (assuming that Franklin leaves) is that we keep Lander and add Johnson. Lander has incredible upside and was too young and playing in the wrong system. He was considered the fastest guard in his class prior to reclass. How many times did we get to see that speed? Never! A year matured and playing alongside another athletic guard could mean we are in business much quicker than we anticipated. Not saying I expect to hang a banner or be playing in the final four, but we are gonna have a much better roster than the last 5 years.

Seems as though he's got plenty of interest in us.

Don't be. He's doing what he feels is best. Completely understandable if he wants a fresh start elsewhere. He committed to play for Coach Miller. I really don't want to see him go but I'm confident that there is going to be some extremely talented guys coming to IU. Hell I've already seen that Syracuse fans are really concerned about losing Zion Cruz to Indiana due to Woody's connections in the area. Ive not even heard about us being in on him, yet other fans are worried about losing guys to us. Thats a great sign for us.

Exactly. the 4 out 1 in requires shooters on offense, not necessarily size. The reason Woody mentioned size was strictly for defensive purposes. He really pioneered the way that current NBA teams guard the pick and roll. He wants to be able to switch everything. That is much more effective when you have guys that can be taught to guard multiple positions. Just running these 2 systems alone should be attractive to recruits who want to get to the next level, as it is what todays NBA looks like. The same reason 5* pro style QB's like to play for programs who run a pro style offense. It gets them ready faster.

Best hire Texas has ever made in basketball. He will win a championship there.

I prefer to burn these from my memory and never speak of them again, thank you.

Have you seen his recruiting class next year? Duke/UK level. Unreal.

Michigan with a healthy Livers would give them fits I think. Michigan can Match Gonzaga’s size. I think Zags finish it though.
