I tried to say it before for those who think his nba career win percentage matters here. Schematically he’s likely going to be the best coach we’ve had since Knight. The biggest question will be can he RECRUIT! Knicks fans are upset he’s leaving and hoping he doesn’t take Kenny Payne with him.

I’m really interested I. Hearing more details about Thad Matta and his specific role in the program. I’m very excited to have him join. Dude was a flat out stud. Recruited the Midwest exceptionally well.

Frankly, no, I don’t think he would. If you think the Indiana name resonates with kids born between 2003-2005, then you’re wrong. It doesn’t. Nba experience and one of the B1G’s best coaches in the last quarter century does though. edit: I’d be ecstatic for Lewis to join the staff and potentially replace Woody down the road. Love Lewis. Just think this gets the train rolling faster.

Got a feeling we are going to have a star studded staff. If Thad Matta joins the program and he’s not even on the staff, that signals to me they are getting serious. Can’t wait to see what the roster looks like for next season.

I think we need at least one of Fife or Lewis and let Woodson put together a monster recruiter.

Kids want to play for a coach and staff that can get them to the NBA. Woodson can deliver a pretty damn compelling message to a recruit and his parents. If they want to make it to the league and get paid, they are sitting across the table of a guy that just spent every day, for decades, drafting, developing, and coaching nba players. He freaking has Thad Matta as a virtual GM. We haven’t announced the other 3 coaches who could be massive names. You’re a 5* recruit who wants to get drafted and youre sitting across the table from Chris Beard or Mike Woodson.... Who you listening to? Be honest.

Woodson with a monster staff is better than waiting on Musselman, Oats, or taking Beard, if possible.....imho

Not at the level of Woody. Woodson has more respect amongst the nba ranks than any college coach. I’ve said it before and it’s true.... there isn’t a bad coach in the nba that is asked to stick around as long as Woodson. You honestly believe that Archie Miller has more contacts in the NBA than Mike Woodson? Bc that’s what you just suggested. You’re wrong. I’ll accept your apology at a later date when it’s more readily apparent. Lol.

We will find out soon but I think this hire is huge. Matta essentially a GM and Woodson having every NBA contact imagineable, means we should be able to recruit right away. Young men will absolutely sit and listen when Coach Woodson speaks. I’m excited. Thad Matta in the program and we still have 3 coaching positions to fill. Bet they are beasts.
