Definitely agree with that!  A few series there it seemed like we were going vertical. Not usually a big fan of throwing across the field, but those couple of throws he made were very impressive. Alot of weapons on that side of the ball. Plus, one minute someone is complaining about Penix not moving the chains, and not giving the defense rest, then they are complaining about moving the chains.

Agree for the most part. It seemed like we really went either/or and not both. I mean we had drives that seemed to be almost all east/west and nothing downfield then all downfield and nothing east/west. I thought the game plan to get the ball outside, quickly, to playmakers to make up for the lack of a run game was solid.

It's taking what the defense gives you. In order to throw the ball downfield, and open up the run game, you have to throw 'east/west" passes. That was a top 5 defense that we scored 31 points on. Offense was not the problem. And hopefully by now you can see the difference in the two quarterbacks.

There was.  Probably not anymore.  Waiting on acknowledgement of such.
Penalties cost us the game.  The one on the punt return in particular.  Their defense was exhausted and worn down.  We were about to go up 2 scores.   One play cost us the game.  Everything that happened after that was inconsequential and yeah, we shot ourselves in the foot, but the better team did not win today.  This is neither pro nor con Tom Allen, but if anyone sees regression as was mentioned this week, I wonder what you're watching.
I also wonder how you extrapolate it into blaming Fred Glass.   Same 4-5 guys, and it's tired.

How?  Recruiting classes have improved if you look at national ranking; he has the best record of any IU football coach in history save Bill Mallory, and Mallory is up by .002%.   Indiana is at least as likely to to go a bowl this season as not; and we have some depth for the first time in a couple of decades.
There's no evidence to support that statement.

Well said OF. While we may not always agree, I believe we share a similar mindset with the overall basketball program. Last year was just a bad situation all around, some Archies fault, some not. Just a bad storm of several things doomed IU.

I’m not an Archie worshipper, he has a lot to prove, but he’s doing his job recruiting and getting his style guys. I think we will see results this year with improvement and making the tournament. People need to see that there are a lot of positives and changes that are good!

I can’t wait for the season to start.

See, this is interesting. I’d say Louisville and Kansas were the top two Adidas programs willing to play ball, but we’ve also seen that Adidas understands Indiana’s brand value and that you don’t always need the college program to be at all complicit.

I’ll say it again, but Romeo was a UL recruit, and then Kansas and Indiana. The Vanderbilt consideration just never fit, in my opinion...

Lol okay. Well then let’s take playmakers out of my sentence. We will replace it with wide receivers who can be playmakers if they are allowed to move after they catch....
play types let’s go with bubble screens....since I’m rewatching the games just to have points that will I guess give you the time of day to address since you can’t address anything that’s part of being a QB...timing and getting balls in windows to allow YAC which is a football term....yards after catch...which WRs can get if the ball is placed correctly and they don’t have to adjust to slower balls or underthrown balls.
And it’s not every throw allows guys to make plays,  because teams will have good coverage, but with Penix if a WR can get free, that much more of velocity can be the difference in a 7 yard gain into a 14-20 yard gain, which moves the ball and keeps the defense off the field.
So let’s just go to screen passes because that’s a pretty easy throw, if you watch
Penix throw his screen or bubble passes....his ball typically arrives on time, which allows a WR to get his shoulders up field square with the line of scrimmage so he can make a move....this also allows the blocking WR to not have to hold his block on the CB as long or this doesn’t allow the other DB or LB to get over to the flats and destroy our WR.
Ramsey doesn’t have the velocity on most of his bubbles to where it allows the WRs to turn up field.....WRs have to hold their blocks longer.
Im watching the ball state game currently and fast forwarding to the offensive plays......to your argument that with Penix we are going way to fast. The first drive was fast on getting the snap off, probably a start of the game tempo, get the offense going, then we settled in to what deboer typically does. We get the snap off between 10-18 secs left on the clock....I’ve only seen a few get to single digits....due to changes when the defense switches up...so the thought process that this is a Kevin Wilson up tempo Offense....not sure where you’re getting that.  Part of the ball state issues with short drives were in part to not having a run offense, when we could chip away at the down and distance....our drives were sustained and weren’t quick turnarounds. Kevin Wilson’s offense typically called the snap within 10-15 seconds which was too fast for a lot of our defenses he had.....when Allen became DC I believe there was a convo to hold the ball longer and we started to see snaps around where we are at today.  Deboer hasn’t really ever ran a hurry up and snap offense in his tenured yes they are west coast/pistol, no huddle, but a lot of offenses are that way...they lineup and see what the defense setups in....then there are checks of need be.

I’ll try to dictate my points to being up to you’re standards for a conversation. I didn’t realize playmakers was such a deal breaker. I know I’m being petty, but that’s in part to your response or lack thereof response to valid points....not because I said them, but because this is what is looked at when determining starting QBs, by the coaches and by people who have been to practices and have watched these two QBs side by side and play after play have also seen what and why the coaches made this decision, it’s a night and day difference when it comes to arm strength and timing on throws to allow them to catch and run....this Can you as a QB give your skill players time to make people miss and or break tackles.....it’s hard to do that when DBs are able to adjust and catch up when the ball is floating in the air. Has Ramsey had some good throws yes, are They floaters and late to spots on the field yes, again nobody is saying he’s a god awful player who never should see the field ever again....no....I’m not saying that and the reasonable people who are making valid points which you are simply refusing to talk about.....they aren’t saying any of these things.

So so I guess my points don’t fit your agenda. I’m all for having a conversation and can see what side you are on and the points you have laid out, I’m not saying you’re wrong or have invalid points, but mines invalid because we don’t have playmakers.....haha okay you win man......but it’s not a conversation when you refuse to listen to others points when they are just as valid as yours.

Agreed. Marquette seems to be the favorite for now but a strong OV and i like our chances. Let’s be real I think we can agree an OV is the one thing we can all collectively agree we should always be very strong at. Would love to have a frontcourt of TJD and Dawson Garcia.

How about we talk about the talent on that side of  the ball. I believe we have weapons all over the field. I want whatever quarterback that's going to get the ball in the hands of the playmakers. Penix not only has a great arm, but he also opens up the running game bythe R/O, and keeping plays alive. Especially on 3rd down.

Just if anyone was curious Virginia averaged around 62 possessions during the regular season. During the tournament they actually played at a slower pace of 58 possessions per game. In the championship OT game Virginia scored 85 pts on 70 possessions.

There is a huge difference between raw with a lack of motivation and basketball IQ and raw with motivation and basketball IQ. I have a feeling that Geronimo is the latter. It’s not just Geronimo either. I believe the shift in recruiting emphasis has happened. Geronimo and others will be developing because they’ll have other players pushing them. It’s not there with wins yet but the type of recruit has changed.

In what way has Glass destroyed the football program? Are you people kidding? Is he the one that stuck us in the Big Ten East? Is he the one that moved the Big Ten to a 9-game conference schedule? I know we haven't gone to a bowl under Allen yet, but we haven't gotten worse or stagnated. We've gotten better. The schedule is tougher and we've held at 5-7 which looks like treading water but really isn't.
Penix is just a freshman and the defense is still pretty young. I think we could still make a bowl this year if Penix makes it back next week and we're on track to become more competitive as these talented recruiting classes grow up. I think starting over before we see Allen with an upperclassman Penix would be a mistake unless he totally bombs out this year or next and goes 3-9.

Nick Baumgart comparing Geronimo to Matt Cross -
Jordan Geronimo avg'd around 10 ppg on Gauntlet.  Matt Cross put up 23 in EYBL.  So Cross had the better summer, right? Except Geronimo's PPP numbers were better ACROSS the board.  Misleading bc Cross took way more possessions - 369 to JG's 168.  Geronimo > Cross.
Cross gets rave reviews for his offense, yet:
    •Overall PPP: Geronimo 0.94 to 0.82
    •1/2 Ct PPP: Geronimo 0.89 to 0.78
    •Transition PPP: Geronimo 1.11 to 0.96
Cross great shooter?   •Catch-and-shoot PPP:  Geronimo 0.91 to 0.89
IU won w/ Geronimo. Check this in 4yrs.      [Hope Nick's right!]

How in the holy hell can you make the claim he isn't capable of winning big road games?  We beat MSU at MSU last season for the love of God.  Are you just making things up, hoping we have a horrible season so you can be "right?"   The way you guys judge Miller is unbelievable to me.  You've seen exactly one season with a single one of his recruits playing even a minute; and last season's roster was flawed on top of significant injury.
Why don't we just sign coaches to one year contracts and then ask you guys if we should keep him or not?    Would that make you happy?    At this point in time, serious question, what would make you happy?  If Glass came out tomorrow and said he was letting go of Tom Allen and Archie Miller, it seems you dudes would throw a parade.   We might as well hire Big Bird.   You'd treat him the same way,
