2019 General Recruiting Thread
Stuhoo replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
The entire college basketball world has now offered Dontiae Allen. His 247 offer list (which has yet to be updated to include Arizona, UL, OSU, and apparently many others): -
Troy Williams - Taiwan Beer (Taiwan Super League)

Without trying to make a political statement: When Pres Clinton is deriving satisfaction from surfing the web, it is NOT because of news on basketball message boards. -

Well yeah; the Julliard flute program is a notorious cesspool. But their basketball program is sparkling clean...and undefeated! Here they are in action:

Im gonna go with my lack of real knowledge on this one and say he’s got three finalists and two front runners. In other words, he’s a “maybe.” -

You’re both so certain. He may indeed choose Michigan, but why are you SO very certain? -

Just saw that video. Methinks our athleticism and talent level is about to take a serious, serious leap. Did you guys see Phinisee throwing it down with his elbow at the rim and Forrester with his forehead at rim height? Holy crap it’s gonna be a fun year. Hell, it’s gonna be a fun era.

Oh...that wasn't where I was going with this (though that's certainly possible). What I think is that Carton, still in the midst of his official visits, has not informed any of his three finalists where he is going and the IU staff is making sure they watch other quality recruits in case Carton says "not IU." -

UMass, Memphis... Hell, we could have a "places Calipari has been" bracket!

I could EASILY see dramatic improvement in our shooting percentages with the departure of: Josh Newkirk, (23 min per game, 37% fg, 80 % ft, 30% 3pt) Curtis Jones, (11 min, 27% fg, 75 % ft, 22% 3pt) Collin Hartman, (15 min, 37% fg, 68% ft, 24% 3pt) Freddie McSwain, (15 min, 44% fg, 57 % ft, 0-1 3pt) and yes, even RoJo (34 min, 43% fg, 70 % ft, 37% 3pt) BY THE WAY...the average shooting percentages for NCAA D1 last year were: FG% - 49.8 (all five IU departures are well below average) FT% - 71.4 (three of five IU departures are below average) 3Pt% - 34.8 (four of five IU departures are below average) I am reasonably certain that Romeo Langford, Evan Fitzner, Rob Phinisee, and Jerome Hunter can replace and exceed those percentages, and that a more experienced Justin Smith, Al Durham, and DeVonte Green will exceed their percentages from last year ('cause if they don't they won't be playing as many minutes as expected).

Are we sure that they showed CURRENT workouts? It’s implied, but not stated.

Yogi Ferrell - Buducnost VOLI Podgorica (Montonegro)
Stuhoo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Hoosiers in the Pros
I shouldn’t be such a smart-a$$. There is potential and examples for guys like him to get more; but he’s got about five years left to earn like that. Still doesn’t suck; he’s a squared away guy that’s set for life. -

Three million dollars to play basketball!?! That does NOT suck. -
Robert Johnson - Rinascita Basket Rimini (Italy)
Stuhoo replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Hoosiers in the Pros
Ooof. 1-4 from the floor, a +/- of minus 18 (the worst on either team), two turnovers and no assists. This thing will not be happening for RoJo, but he'll be getting paid to play basketball overseas, he is a college graduate, and he'll always have a second home and family in the state of Indiana. -
Saw that and it's probably worth noting. I guess the operative words are "ready to play. Post DeMarcus Cousins trade I found a really good article on post-Achilles tear performance and recovery time. The primary takeaway from the article? A guy can get back on the court within a year of the injury, but with greatly diminished impact forever more. https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2018/1/27/16940178/demarcus-cousins-achilles-injury-golden-state-warriors-this-is-the-worst Archie runs a meritocracy, and I can't imagine a post-injury Davis competing for minutes with Fitzner, Forrester, Thompson, and Moore.

(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky
Stuhoo replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
A lineup of TJD, Brooks, Hunter, Smith, and Rob P feels pretty top-tenish to me.
