  1. As the parent of a high school junior who is a musician, I can tell you with absolute certainty that the Jacobs School is a very, very big deal. Routinely ranks as one of the top twenty programs nationally - better than that in certain disciplines. And that ranking takes into consideration that many of the top music programs are 'strictly arts' conservatories. If music is Zeke's passion, IU has a real in. UCLA is also a very, very good music school, but of his finalists list IU is the only high-ranking one that would allow his family to see him regularly.
  2. A warning point to Hutch89 for a politically charged post! [easy fellas - eeez a joke :)]
  3. From a sideline interview of TJD last night: Reporter: "When you see IU's coach out here watching you when there's obviously a big tournament in Vegas going on as well. But, when he's here to watch you as well, and Purdue's got an assistant coach here What does it mean when you see some of these B1G schools, some powerhouses, investing a lot in recruiting you?" TJD: "Um, it just shows that they're trying to recruit the state inside out. So that they're just trying to get the best players in the state rather than going outside the state to get those type of players. But they're trying to get the state of Indiana locked." ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hmmm... I wonder where I've heard that before? I'll think I'll try the 9:45 mark of the Archie Miller introductory press conference:
  4. Oooh... This is a good one! https://twitter.com/IndianaMBB/status/1022599352991268864?s=20 Some takeaways? DeRon is the life of the party, and he’s looking pretty mobile. Per DeRon, Justin Smith is the team’s best dunker (well, yeah), Fitz is the best pure shooter, and DGreen is a sloppy player Them Jake Forrester camera angles keep causing conversation: he looks a good inch taller than DeRon when they’re standing side by side (!)
  5. I wonder if Al Durham has the potential to be a 25 minute per game point guard. Our starting lineup would be mighty long, athletic, and defense-solid if it was Al, Romeo, Justin, Juwan, and Fitz.
  6. No inside information, but here's why: When a relatively under-recruited player gets his first taste of big-boy attention and it comes from a school with a great reputation, a school where his buddy is thriving, and a school that his AAU coach can vouch would be a great choice, a visit is more likely to turn into a commitment than usual. Examples? Sheehey and Oladipo; both rated in the 140's and both became Hoosiers in a (relative) split second.
  7. This particular player's situation seems to be the style of courtship that could come to fruition in a hurry. Jake is a really, really charismatic kid, and after seeing VCU and UConn, IUBB will blow him away if he visits.
  8. Spot on! It's a Jake Forrester connection: "After winning a state title during his junior year at the Westtown School, 6'9" Jake Forrester was an integral part of the PSA Cardinals' success. Terrence "Munch" Williams, the director of the PSA Cardinals, said of the Pennsylvania native, "He's a great kid. He's going to go off and do some amazing things. He's going to have a very good college career. I think he's going to have a big senior year at Westtown."
  9. From The MacDuffie School, a high-end $45,000+ per year private prep school in Western Mass. Also has high-end athletics for financial needs students. Power 5 recruits from MacDuffie? Jordy Tshimianga (sp), the seven footer who bailed on Nebraska this week, and Brad Calipari, that son-of-a-.......basketball coach at Big Blew. Given that Archie and the Millers are close with Calipari, it is possible that Cal clued Archie in on a kid that UK wasn't going to pursue.
  10. Or, you can have the "Big Man -STD combo platter"!!
  11. I'll try! August 20th. And based on NO inside information, I'll say Armaan Franklin.
  12. I’m really hoping that our interest in Jahmius Ramsey is real and mutual.
  13. You should let the staff know that they’re gonna have to handle this without you. ;)
  14. As a reminder to all: Last summer this board was generally shocked, astounded, and overjoyed with the speed, seeming ease, and early start that the IU staff showed in assembling one of the top ten classes in the nation. That class had commitment dates of: Race Thompson, July 17th (for the 2017 class) Damezi Anderson, July 17th Jerome Hunter, July 17th Robert Phinisee, August 19th Jake Forrester, September 19th In Florida, we call the months of July, August, and September "prime hurricane season." For IU's formation of this class, these are also the prime months; August and September should be at the apex of the bell curve.
  15. While you’re entitled to your opinion, I can’t imagine what kind of personal conspiracy theory has caused you to believe that Ray Jackson is anything other than a great guy.
  16. I mean, hell...I gave Wayne’s post a ‘like’, but what he is saying should be such a given that it shouldn’t have to be explained.
