  1. Seems like Leal is the only one who is trending better.
  2. Spot on reality mike-drop post by bleed.
  3. I shouldn’t be such a smart-a$$. There is potential and examples for guys like him to get more; but he’s got about five years left to earn like that. Still doesn’t suck; he’s a squared away guy that’s set for life.
  4. Three million dollars to play basketball!?! That does NOT suck.
  5. Ooof. 1-4 from the floor, a +/- of minus 18 (the worst on either team), two turnovers and no assists. This thing will not be happening for RoJo, but he'll be getting paid to play basketball overseas, he is a college graduate, and he'll always have a second home and family in the state of Indiana.
  6. Saw that and it's probably worth noting. I guess the operative words are "ready to play. Post DeMarcus Cousins trade I found a really good article on post-Achilles tear performance and recovery time. The primary takeaway from the article? A guy can get back on the court within a year of the injury, but with greatly diminished impact forever more. https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2018/1/27/16940178/demarcus-cousins-achilles-injury-golden-state-warriors-this-is-the-worst Archie runs a meritocracy, and I can't imagine a post-injury Davis competing for minutes with Fitzner, Forrester, Thompson, and Moore.
  7. A lineup of TJD, Brooks, Hunter, Smith, and Rob P feels pretty top-tenish to me.
  8. That would be, by far, the worst starting five in the NBA.
  9. Fitz needs to gain at least ten pounds so that his offensive end talents for taking the other team’s big away from the basket are complemented with the ability to defend that big down low.
  10. For me it is an absolute given that if Fitzner can effectively defend the post he will play a lot a lot of minutes.
  11. I’ll put a bit more of a silver lining on it. Our new scheduling strategy which, for this year includes five nonconference tier one games in addition to the B1G 20 game schedule is a vast improvement in recruiting five star players over the old strategy of many, many games against cupcakes which no one outside of Bloomington wants to see.
  12. Arky was 23-12 last year; lost to Butler in NCAA round of 64. However, they will have 10 new players of their thirteen scholly kids, and the only returning guard was a red-shirt transfer last year. Their best player is a 6'11", 234 pound sophomore center named Gaffords. In other words, probably good to catch em early.
  13. I'll agree to sign for the result of those predictions. Right. Now.
  14. The Illinois House of Paign forum is better - they are spending some time with wishful thinking, and more time with a analysis of just how out of shape a 260 pound kid can get in a year without exercise.
  15. Great post! Especially the part about “the now blond Evan Fitzner. in all seriousness, Jake Forrester is taller than I expected; quite a bit taller than Jerome, Damezi, and Romeo. Considering Jerome had been listed at 6’8” and Jake at 6’9”, either Jake is growing or Jerome is shrinking!
  16. Illinois? Ooof (part- infinity), as they add a really slow, really big guy who will likely not be able to contribute next year: Illini adding grad transfer big man Adonis De La Rosa Kent State grad transfer big man Adonis De La Rosa is joining the Illini basketball program for the upcoming season, he announced on Monday. Multiple sources confirmed the transfer. De La Rosa was in the process of being admitted to the university last week, and he could arrive on campus as early as this week. The seven-foot, 261-pound center averaged 11.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game last season, while converting 56.4 percent of his field goal attempts and shooting 78.5 percent from the free-throw line. De La Rosa produced seven double-doubles, including an outing of 24 points and 14 boards against Central Michigan in early January. This addition comes with some uncertainty, though, as De La Rosa tore his ACL in March and he is still recovering from surgery.
  17. The workout shirt is still tucked into the gym shorts though.
  18. HEY BTOWNBANNERS...IT'S "COMPARE THE COACH VIDEO" TIME! :) ^^Yes my friends, we've gone from this^^ - To this - >
  19. Yes! Uspshoosier consistently makes this board a great place to learn, laugh, and hang out. These photos are just the latest example.
  20. Firstly...I generally agree with everything above you said. However, I think the problem will never be "too many point guards"; instead, it will be "can two or three of these potential players (Phinisee, Durham, Green, and Carton) be on the floor at once" and be effective. I don't see why not - primarily, Durham and Green would need to be able to defend against a big guard. I have no doubt that Durham can, and I think DeVonte is listed at 6'3" and is a pretty solid build. If the defensive end of the floor is covered, having DGreen or Durham as the two guard on the offensive end is excellent news. A starting lineup of Carton, DGreen, Hunter, Justin Smith, and TJD with Durham and Phinisee the first two guards off the bench? Sign me up.
  21. Well...there is already no doubt that Grant Gelon was the "Target of Arch-ery"
  22. Personally? I don't mind discussing it like you just did at all - as a mod the place that I (hopefully gently) draw the line is when posters name a specific kid that may be in good standing, and posit him as needing to be gonzo. I agree that we have a bit of a glut of bigs, especially if/when DeRon comes back healthy.
  23. So we can "slow play" a fantastic get like Newman without really slow-playing him!
  24. In my opinion? Best of all worlds for IU...currently. In saying that, I strongly believe that DJ Carton is the guard that IU is most enamored, with serious interest in Ramsey, and that we are slow playing Newman, Franklin, and probably Curtis from Ohio. The beauty of it is that IU and Michigan have a visit this week from Carton, and as Bozich said on his ITH podcast this week, the fact that the IU and Michigan visits this week are official visits is telling. To paraphrase Bozich's logic, if Carton takes these two official visits and thereafter decides to wait for the fall, and then schedules other official visits in the fall, that is a pretty clear sign that IU will not be his first choice. So, the beauty of the situation is that we can slow play the other guards, but we don't have to do so for very long.
