Tournament Bids

I always assumed all post season tournaments like the NIT and CBI handed out bids after the NCAA made their selections. I am on a call list for the University of Evansville and got a call this morning that UE would be hosting a post season game on Wednesday March 18. They didn't say which tournament and said the opponent has not been determined.

 

I thought there was a chance they could have played in the NIT, but it is more likely the CBI if they are already accepting tournament bids.  I thought it was interesting that teams are getting invited to tournaments and we haven't even started our conference tournament.

A lot of the groundwork is done prior to selection Sunday. Tournaments like the CBI where you pay to to host games will start the process earlier with teams that are 100% not NCAA worthy.

I was really hoping UE would get an NIT bid but losing their last two to Illinois St hurt
