Then you probably don’t remember the screw job the refs did agains Steve Downing in the '73 semi-final with UCLA. What should have been Walton's 5th foul was called as #4 on Downing, and the rest, as they say, is history.

 

Downing was not a dominant big man, but he could hold his own. Had it not been for the phantom call against him, Knight could have had his first title and Indiana's 3rd. They finished 22-6 with Buckner, Downing, Laskowski, Crews, et al.

Please ,Im trying to forget that hose job.Have been for 40 +.That and the Valentine Foul out  parade  were two of the biggest shams ever.

I beg anyone with any basketball knowledge at all to watch those two games and tell me they weren't rigged.

I think he's trying to fix this thing and doing a whole lot better coaching.Unfortunately whats broken now cant be fixed by in game coaching.This team cant match up with physicality of a Louisville,KY or Wisconsin.

I think his roster management plus usage of  talented bigs has been horrendous and now we are seeing the results of that.

Recruiting is something that takes time. We had 4 years with Luke. So, recruiting didn't focus on recruiting a "big man" as much I would assume. If Luke had of stayed, he would be starting and a boarder line All B1G by his senior year. We were set. His transfer set us back big time.

I agree, but that's not the game plan this year. We can't beat those teams and win the whole thing. We can get to the tournament with this team and make a splash. I think the difference I'm seeing, is that Crean's coaching isn't hurting our chances and has definitely been beneficial a few times.
