Even first offense OWI's are a lot more serious than speeding tickets in Indiana---ou812dude.   Speeding tickets are an infraction---most you get is a fine -----usually about $140.00 and 4 points against your license.  In most jurisdictions in Indiana--first offense OWIs are misdemeanors---you get an overnight stay in jail---probation----alcohol classes---community service----license suspension of at least 90 days---over $500.00 in fines,fees, and costs--8 points against your license---and your auto insurance costs skyrocket!

DUI's/OWI's in the state of Indiana aren't much more than speeding ticket for first time offenders...
yes...you go to the drunk tank until you blow a .00 which can be several hours depending on how drunk you are...but...

get an attorney,
plea for a lesser charge,
go to alcohol awareness class,
pay fines,
kiss butt,
show remorse
don't repeat your offense, or any other offense for that matter...
and in a year's time, you are back to almost a clean slate, just like when your grandma fed you blackberry cobbler and homemade ice cream on the back porch...
