Troy Williams

I don't understand Crean on some players.  Like Luke, he will talk him down like he is playing like crap, then talk Troy up.  Don't like singling players out, but Crean does this a lot.  Don't get that.  Don't know if he is looking for specific things he has practiced on and ignores all other things.  Luke was at times the best player on the court and Crean acts like he played ok.  Troy dunks once and struggles a bit, and Crean couldn't be happier.  Some things I don't get I guess.

In fairness Crean, Troy, Luke etc... It looks like the tweeter that CG quoted, tweeted it as something different than it was.

In a nut shell Crean said "Players have to learn to fight through fatigue. Most of them think they are tired way too quickly. Troy was doing a lot of running (and getting tired, but when the opportunity came, while feeling fatigued) he looked like Usain Bolt on that dunk."

He wasn't applauding him for dunking, while ignoring turnovers or other players, he was just using that as an example of fighting through the fatigue.

Unfortunately I'm starting to agree with that, and the frustrating thing about that is that he has the potential to be better.

but does he?

I'm not saying I don't think the same thing you do, but it still seems forced from hollowell. Nothing he does seems effortless and in the flow of the game. I like JH, backed him all last year. I was hoping for more this season. Still could see a lot change in his career though. He isn't even halfway done.

I think Crean has the art of managing players emotions down with his comments. He knows how the players think. With Luke, he can be harder on him and Luke will push himself harder and harder. Troy on the other hand may need more positive reinforcement which Crean provides in post game comments.

I no longer out much value in what Crean says at the end of games because he is saying those things for a specific reason, and not because it's just on his mind. Everything has a purpose. I believe he was quoted at saying something similar to what I said at a coaching clinic a few years back. I'll look for a link.

I was thinking the same thing. Some players can be challenged by comments that a coach makes as the kid would love to prove you wrong. Other kids need that reinforcement and encouragement to keep them focused and working. Nothing fair about it. That's just how kids are.

I agree on the forced part.  That is the thing that frustrates me the most.  He just seems to force the issue too much at times.  I think he does that because he wants to be good and contribute and I can respect that.

If he were a Jr. and playing like this I'd be a lot more worried.  However we're getting to the point where you'd hope to see some consistency and improvement from him.

I don't know how they got only 6 to's?  He had 8 by my count and it could be worse if you count the bad shots that were swatted so easily.  Coach should have given Hartman more time in the pre-season games and let him shoot some 3's.  I am sure at least Collin wouldn't be giving the other team the ball like Troy does.  J. Jackson made a good point when he said what are they going to do when OSU is playing defense on them?  If the court was spaced with a few shooters, the slashers would have a much easier time getting their shot.  Can't just gear up to play the cup-cakes when you have a tough conference schedule ahead.

I can't believe it , but I'm actually agreeing with you on something. LOL

But, I'm still pulling like crazy for JH, and hope we are both wrong.

its like JH has the potential to be so amazing, but it seems as if he doesnt care, i know you shouldnt judge a book by its cover, because maybe thats how he always looks. I mean cwat looked high every game lol! I hope we are all wrong too.
