Had a nice game. Didn’t shoot it great, but he got to the rim whenever he wanted and he just does everything. He can impact winning if he never takes a shot. Big fan. Koehler had a nice game. 1st time I’ve seen him play. Would think he’d be down their board a ways.

Kiyan Anthony's ascension has been one of the storylines of this spring, and it's plain to see here this weekend. After opening the weekend with 25 points against the PSA Cardinals and 18 against ProSkills, Anthony exploded for 28 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals on Saturday afternoon against Team Final. He scored 25 of those points in the first three quarters of the game, accounting for more than half his team's points at that point. Most impressive, was that he did so while playing in the flow and not dominating the ball, yet still being aggressive.

His pull-up game was especially potent. He was able to get to it in a number of ways, whether he was punishing defenders for not having their hands up, finding the open space in transition, or putting defenders in jail when operating in ball-screens. He also mixed in some impressive footwork off the catch, lay-up making ability around the paint, and even the ability to take smaller guards into the post.

 

There might not be any player in Indianapolis scoring the ball more consistently than Darius Acuff Jr., which should come as a surprise to absolutely no one. He had 22 against the Oakland Solider, 29 and 5 assists in a win over NW Rotary Rebels, and then 27 in Saturday's nightcap against Mac Irvin Fire.

Acuff was aggressively looking for his jumper, converting 3-9 from behind the arc, and while that percentage was marginal by his standards, it set up the rest of his attack. Defenders were forced to pick their poison and Acuff's deliberate pace and the progression of his change of pace games were extremely notable.

He's always had a lethal second move off the dribble, but his ability to mix multiple moves together, and to do so with variety was very clear. One possession it might be a hesi-go. The next it might be a killer-cross into a second cross-over if the defender wasn't there, and the fact that he could create space for his pull-up or get downhill to the rim just complicated things that much more for opposing defenders.

 Typically, it has been the connecting pieces that attract the production for Jalen Haralson. Today, however, the 6-foot-7 wing went and got it. He finished with 21 points and 37 points in his two showings. In the first game, Haralson finished 2-5 from three, comfortably knocking down the two on balance, with his feet set. Haralson moved the ball around well and he also rebounded his position. In the second job, Haralson did his best when absorbing contact and getting into the teeth of the defense. He finished 11-14 from the free throw line while knocking down 12-20 from the field. All-in-all, it was a dominating day that showcased what Haralson can be.

Darius Acuff is not only playing with a lot of athleticism, he is playing with a lot of confidence. The 6-foot-0 lead guard has a quick first step that routinely gets him into the paint. Acuff carries deep range with the ability to step into a shot from 35 feet. He also has a naturally aesthetic floater that he uses on paint touches. Acuff finished his first game of the day with a game-high 29 points.

Darius Adams has always been able to shoot the ball. It has been his superpower since the younger age groups. Now he is pushing 6-foot-5 and is developing a well-rounded game as a scorer. While being a solid athlete, he showcased pace and solid footwork to get himself clean looks in the halfcourt. He is a better straight-line athlete than his reputation suggests, went baseline and dunked on a player today. Adams is one who continues adding to his game and gets a little better each time you watch him.

Five-Star Plus+ SG Meleek Thomas (2025) brings an electricity to the floor when he steps on it. He is able to create space for his shot at each level of the half-court and has a quick and decisive handle to get open. He is a quick-twitch, explosive athlete with range to knock down shots. He finished with 18 points and three assists in the game one win today.

Five-Star Plus+ PF Caleb Wilson (2025) really shined on the defensive end. The 6-foot-9 forward is a good athlete, showcasing his length. Offensively he is still finding his footing after the switch to join Cam Boozer nad the Nightrydas. He finished with 16 points in their early win today. But defensively, he slid his feet well an showed excellent recovering timing. Wilson is rounding out his way in an intriguing manner.

4-star SG Kiyan Anthony (2025) continues to get better each time out. He is turning into a confident scorer, showing his shot-making prowess off the bounce and off the catch. He has range that extends beyond the arc and, while he is still developing his handle, he is comfortable with wo and three dribble pull ups.

Previous post from Jamie Shaw dealt with players who hold IU offers.  He also commented on some players that may have some degree of IU interest and we may hear more of.

Tyran Stokes has played like a dominant alpha. He has had no issues being the man on the court and letting everyone know that he is just that. Stokes is a physical presence, despite playing up in age, the 6-foot-7 forward is explosive and he has a lot of natural strength on his frame. He played high above the rim which will pop on video. But where he was the most intriguing was his instincts in the passing lanes. He quickly turned defense into offense and rushed the passing lanes with a purpose. He finished his first game of the day with 25 points, going 2-2 from three.

It’s the feel that really pops for Acaden Lewis. The 6-foot-2 point guard plays with an excellent pace, probing the defense to get to his spots on the floor. He has a smooth jump shot which he uses as a threat to get defenders off balance. He plays well in space but has great balance in traffic where he utilizes a pull-up and floater. Lewis is not a bursty athlete, but he has excellent feel and footwork. He has done a good job in the past 12 months sliding from a scoring guard to more of a point guard. He finished with 18 points and three assists in his first game today.

 Hudson Greer (2025) is coming off a rough Friday night outing with a pair of bounce-back games that we have been accustomed to seeing from the 6-foot-6 wing. Greer is efficient at scoring the ball, comfortable with two or three dribbles and pulling up. He is a good athlete who will attack the rim in straight lines and is an effective off-ball cutter. He finished the game one win with 18 points, going 7-12 from the field.

Kayden Mingo (2025) has taken a huge step forward over the past few months. Comfortable playing on or off the ball, Mingo handled well getting to his spots and he made shots from each level with touch and confidence. He finished with a team-high 25 points, going 10-15 from the field in PSA Cardinals’ first game today.

Mingo’s  gonna be a great get for someone, though I’d be pretty surprised if it’s IU. Every Long Island Lutheran game I saw last year that kid just popped. Competitive as hell. Defends his a$$ off. Saw him frustrate Darius Acuff so bad in a game in, I think, December that I thought Acuff was gonna punch him. He’s a little tweenish because he’s maybe 6’1” but he’s not the most instinctive facilitator, but he’s completely fearless and he makes a lot of plays. Needless to say, I’m a fan,

Flurry of offers since. Northwestern, Virginia Tech and West Virginia have all offered in the last 24 hours as well. Koehler is going to be a high-major play.
