Personally, I would say Radio City ahead of #1 Record, although that changes week to week. I'd also probably go Tim over LIB and the first Clash over LC, but again that's just me.  I can see you are a man of taste.

EDIT: I listened to You Are the Cosmos the other day and I'm constantly floored by it.

Three things:

  1. If you are floored by I Am the Cosmos, that's your tie-breaker. Chilton + Bell's chords barely nudges out Radio City & Third (but Holocaust may be the most stunning Big Star track of them all).
  2. No homage to NOLA on your list? Where are the Meters, Clifton, or Dr. John Gris-Gris?
  3. Bryter Later is a subtle but killer choice. That little bit of production makes Nick Drake not nearly as weepy!

One more thing:

You reminded me that I screwed up - neglected Lou on my list. Add Berlin, drop Elliot Smith (I couldn't focus on which album of his to include anyway)

Dave Brubeck's Greatest Hits

Hello Dolly Soundtrack

Roy Orbison - Black and White Night

Of the nine albums you listed, four of them were Rubber Soul and Sgt. Peppers.    :)

Have you heard This Mortal Coil's covers of "Kangaroo" and "Holocaust" (both from the same album)? I mean, Chilton basically invented goth so it's only natural.

Gris-Gris is one of the creepiest albums to drive around NOLA at night listening to. It's also one of the best New Orleans records because it was recorded in LA (a lot like Paul's Boutique being a quintessential NYC record for the same reason...not to mention REM's Life's Rich Pageant being extremely Georgia because it was recorded in Indiana).

I love everything Nick Drake ever did. I'm a huge fan.

I can't listen to Berlin more than once or twice a year. Just so damn heavy.

When Caroline's kids start crying in the background? Yikes

Top 5 live album, produced by Joe Boyd and everything he touched was gold, just listened to Bob and the boys the other day and decided ZA is my 2nd favorite...I'm a weirdo who likes their later stuff more.

I’d forgotten that Boyd did Fables. The guy worked with everyone, but I always associate him with Richard Thompson. Bill Berry once said he hated that record. That should have been the tip-off to the ensuing aneurysm, since it’s objectively fantastic.

Either/Or - Elliot Smith: Tortured and beautiful, and not faking it.

Great album - one of my favorites too, but you're not kidding about not faking it. Dude committed suicide by stabbing himself. In the stomach. And I think it was a butter knife.

And thereafter, he was toast.

Oh my God. Was going to pop on and mention that I had busted out  Anodyne as my yard work music this morning and what a spectacular record that is…….

But, then there’s this. A new addition to the pantheon of horrifying Dad jokes.

I love Dad jokes.  But, I don't have any kids so that makes me a Faux Pa.
