RaceToTheTop Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Don't know if this has been mentioned here (I'm sure it has, but don't see a thread), but IU at Michigan State has been rescheduled for March 2nd. If the Michigan game doesn't get rescheduled (I'm assuming it won't), then IU would have four games left. I think the extra game helps the cause....I though after losing to MSU, we needed to go 2-1 in the last three to be on pace for getting into the tournament. That would have made us 14-11; 13-12 I think would have left us short. Going 2-2 would put us at 14-12, which depending on BTT, would put us on pace of getting in. IMO, it gives us an extra game to try to get another win with an extra loss not being that damaging. Thoughts? Quote

The truth is that IF we had won yesterday, I think the extra game would have actually hurt us. I think 14 is the magic number. The caveat will be the BTT....if we go 2-2 with the remaining games we would be 14-12 entering the BTT. That would give us a seed in the 7/8/9 range for the BTT. 7 seed would be a 10 seed and 8 seed would get a 9 seed, so an opponent along the lines of a Rutger/Maryland/Minnesota/Michigan State which might just mean if we are 14-12 it could take a win in the BTT. Maths are getting hard now. In a normal season, we are probably talking about being 16-10 right now with four additional wins against low to mid non-conference teams. Have no idea what the committee is going to do. Quote
NashvilleHoosier Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 I'm just glad the conference didn't take my idea of scheduling a back to backs on Sat/Sun. The momentum Sparty had combined with this fragile minded team of ours....we would have lost by 40 on Sunday. Quote
