Popular Post Feathery Posted February 8, 2020 Popular Post Posted February 8, 2020 I was looking at some stats and it appears that both Hunter and Franklin may have turned the corner shooting the 3. Both are not shooting a good % for the season, Hunter at 26.8% and Franklin as 23.1%. However, after a brutal start to the season, Franklin has shot 40% from 3 over the last 5 games (zero attempts vs OSU). The previous 5 games he was at 0%, on the same number of attempts (10). Maybe the game is slowing down for the freshman or he is just feeling more comfortable. Hunter seems to be shaking off the rust. From the Nebraska game forward, 4 games for him, he is shooting 53.8% from 3 on 13 attempts. Rob’s is up over 6% from last year as well, at 37.2%. I just found these stats to be encouraging, as these 3 guys will be huge over the next couple of seasons. If they can keep up the good shooting, then this team can reach a different level. Might be time to start Hunter. IUsafety, NWOHoosier, Class of '66 Old Fart and 11 others 13 1 Quote
HinnyHoosier Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Nice post, appreciate the stats. I would agree they both look more comfortable. I was at the MSU game, and on the three Armaan hit in the second half to (I believe) tie us back up he looked really confident on that play. He went back to get the ball with intent and stepped right into the shot without hesitation. In a big moment when a ranked team is surging on your home court, no less. Good confidence from the freshman in that moment; hoping it continues to grow. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners thebigweave 1 Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 I don't think you can read anything into such a small sample space. I'm more comfortable with Hunter's shooting percentage going up than Armaan's because Armaan didn't come in known as a shooter. In terms of the sample space, if just one of Armaan's three point shots in the last five games had taken an unlucky bounce out, he'd be shooting 30% instead of 40%. He's still a guy who has only hit more than one three pointer in a game two times all season. Quote

His uptick over the last 5 games could be a good sign that he is now shooting at his historical levels. Quote

I'm just not sure that 37% in high school with the closer line is something we should hang our hat on. I hope he continues to get better but I'm not counting on him being the shooter we need. Quote
