Sheesh. Beard’s agent must be worn out from begging so many schools to consider his client.

As an FYI, IU AD is fiscal year end June, so FY24 is before this past football season happened. The FY24 revenue increase is mostly from what is basically a loan from IU to the athletic dept for Tom's buyout, hiring Cig/staff, etc. I expect a nice increase in revenue from football, so your point stands, just noting we don't know what exactly the impact is yet. Sorry to be pedantic, just noting for folks who follow the AD's financial results...

I would just like to point out Scott Dolson’s last hire is currently AP Coach of the Year in the most important college sport.

Decent chance the JFK file gets declassified soon (66% chance per betting markets). That’s a drop everything and read it moment if it happens.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
Pagoda replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I love that clip, especially the line “It’s a total fabrication!” -
Fair points.

It’s funny supposed insider Rabby breaks almost no IUBB news. He is so bad. My guess is only agents talk with him, which isn’t helpful.
-
He’s a decent coach, but that would not be fun due to the fit being so-so at best and there being better options out there. I would initially have a visceral reaction, then I would rationalize it and have some optimism, then it probably doesn’t go well and I have to back off my pro-Dolson stance, and finally I just follow football until the next coaching search. I still trust Scott right now. We really don’t know what he’s up to.
-
And UNC won’t look at him when they run their next hiring process. He is a very challenging and risky hire for any big brand program or school, which has been detailed a million times in this thread.
-
Eyeballing his business dealings, he seems like a $200M+ range dude. Big car dealers all seem to make a fortune. He appears to commit a lot to IU. Great to have him in the stable of big donors!
-
They somehow are willing to pay Rabby money each month… not the sharpest bunch.
-
I get your point and agree with some of it. But the only big business in college sports is football. Despite our terrible history in that sport, it’s going pretty darn well thanks to Dolson.
-
I still think Scott has a good chance to get this hire right. I’ve got to admit likely losing a good coach who is one of our own to UM is triggering some of my PTSD developed over the past 25 years.

Will be interesting to see what the buyout number is…
-
Gee thanks a lot Rick Pitino for bringing up Chris Beard so he can be rehashed for like the 10th time.
-
Ugh. Thanks Quinn. Not surprising, but assuming this happens it makes me sad and angry — the usual emotions with crappy IUBB.

(2026) LB Henry Ohlinger to INDIANA
Pagoda replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Other schools probably do this, but Henry thought this touch of class from the IUFB staff was worth sharing. -
Pam Whitten just got an five year extension. I'm not providing an opinion on her, I really don't know if she does a good job as President nor is this the forum for such a debate. Last year was a bit bumpy for her, which makes this notable. What I do know is she is a big supporter of athletics, especially football, and Cig thanks her along with Scott all the time. This past fiscal year IU gave the athletic dept a $34M loan mostly used to help deal with Tom's buyout and hiring Cig and staff. IU has never provided support at this level, the previous largest loan to the AD was $3-4M. The loan will be paid back as FB revenue increases from scheduled donations, gameday revenue, and media rights. I would guess Pam was involved in the aforementioned record level of support, and I think we can expect the increased institutional support we've seen for football to continue. This should be a good thing, as we know the one sport with a very good ROI is football and it makes sense to invest in it.

Could be. Cig continues to be publicly happy with the support he gets. I haven’t heard what our NIL number was for the ‘25 team yet… I could use some insider info there.
-
Thanks. Interesting ZO/MN report IU is going to allocate our rev share to bball to be 2x the conference average. This is the first I've heard this. Some schools may do something similar, but it sounds like we are getting aggressive with rev share to bball and we will be top or close to top of the conference. That rev share commitment plus our already top-5 NIL is a lot of player payroll available, not exactly surprising for IUBB. Coach candidates should find that enticing. That said, I hope we give Cig plenty of the rev share too...

Ha. I guess they noticed 90% of fans didn’t like them.
-
Great point on all that stuff that happens beyond just recruiting and coaching. Easy to forget about all that.
-
The crazy thing is....there are people that would be upset with hiring Brad Stevens because he hasn't been coaching for a while, and he forgot how to do it... Yea — that was a funny angle. Brad assembled an NBA title winner that plays some of the most efficient basketball ever played in the history of the sport… and he was gonna be flummoxed by the college game? Lol.

It's a shame he is an IU grad and former player. He is a terrible person.
