A long time ago students used to be in the north bleachers -- I think back in the mid-2000's they moved them out. Now they're back in the north bleachers. Should help the atmosphere a bit. Nice move. Update: I heard a donation helped make this possible. Kinda crazy.

Transfer Portal w/IU Interest
Pagoda replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Agree. That feels like the best case scenario. It's kinda easy to picture how this happened. To close on the big time signings like Sherrell, we probably went a little higher than we wanted, which kept eating away at the budget for the last few spots. But it was a better move to close on those guys than be sitting here without them and using their budget to sign a bunch of mid players. We'll see. Regardless, it's been a pretty exciting and solid portal. Still #1 on On3 and #3 on 24/7. Offseason champs! -
Transfer Portal w/IU Interest

I don't think IU is lowering standards or giving up on the last three spots. If we had done that, we would have already signed some players to round out the roster so the staff could take a vacation. I'm pretty sure we're low on money. We've spent a fortune and there is a limit to what we can spend -- I don't think we can just allocate another $3M to IUBB for another obvious impact player. I get why our fans would like IU to do that. I suspect the staff is scouting for the best we can get for our remaining budget. It's not ideal and not easy, but that's where we seem to be. There will likely be uncertainty with part of the rotation. The staff is going to have to get some upside surprise from some players on the roster for us to have a really exciting year. That's pretty normal, a staff either scouts well and develops or they don't. And if they don't, nothing very good is going to happen. -
He picked against us vs. OSU, Bama, Oregon, and Miami. IUFB finally broke him... for now.

They added eight pretty crappy games that will barely move the needle on the media deal. Pointless move.

Great drama. Part of what makes CFB so entertaining is how messy it can get and all the characters involved.

Lol

If they want to vacate our 4-8 record… have at it lol. That said, I don’t know the answer to your question. Hammering IU for something so innocuous seems unlikely.
-
I think that's likely. Not surprisingly, it sounds like there are Loss of Eligibility/Good Standing provisions in NIL deals. Not sure if there are claw backs, but at the least if he is declared ineligible at that point no more payments are owed. And on the rev share part of his contract, it's even more likely he's toast there. And the last complication for Brendan -- Cincy is suing him for a $1M buyout he hasn't paid them related to his transfer to TTU. What a mess.

Telltale sign it was time for rehab.

UNC just had zero players drafted. First time since 2016. Tough scene for the "NFL's 33rd franchise." Go there at your own risk.

Our photoshoot props keep leveling up. Love it! The poor Brass Spittoon has been thrown in the closet. -
IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates

Hmm… I forgot the angle that we had all these guys on their visit. Ugh. This forum isn’t for the nitty gritty of recent Little 5 weekend issues. But I will say given the clear trend of problems I do not know why Bloomington/BPD still allows such huge, uncontrollable crowd sizes on Kirkwood. They’re just not being proactive to solve the issue. Do something like limit the Kirkwood crowd to 10% of what it was via controlled access checkpoints. Anyways, not good. -

Well, it seems IUBB is running into the headwind of not being a good, stable program. This is not surprising. Good news is this can be overcome. As we know, our roster construction was a mess and we had one returning guy who averaged 4ppg. It's hard to fix so many roster issues in one portal, because the portal is so darn expensive. If we had more contributors returning this season, we wouldn't have to spend so much on the roster. Returning players are cheaper. We've spent a boatload of money, but given all the spots we had to fill via the pricey portal, we don't have much money left for these last three roster openings. As a result there will probably be more uncertainty with our rotation next year than we would like. Our staff is going to have to show some old fashioned scout and develop skills to make it work. To be fair that's true of every team. I didn't see much of that last year, so it better start now... We're still the #1 portal class on On3 and #3 on 24/7. That's a very good accomplishment. This roster now has the on paper talent and multi-year eligibility to be a strong base to grow from. Obviously, the huge question is how well we scouted and if the staff can maximize this roster. I found last season unsettling, but I guess the optimistic view would be this roster is thoroughly upgraded and perhaps it all comes together. Who knows. It's IUBB so it's hard not to expect the worst. But, we'll see. -
Yea. Our '25 team had a Blue Chip Ratio of 8%(!!!)... just smashed through the "rule" it had to be >50% to win it all. Yet we still sent all these players to the league. Cig & Co are a development powerhouse. It's incredible.

Heck of a smart move to leave Wisky and come to IU. He flourished and got launched to the NFL.

#1 INDIANA FOOTBALL 2025 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

Haha. I forgot about those. Great memory. Really paired well with cutting down the nets after the OSU loss when we still clinched a share of the B1G. -

Very cool. -
If he goes there good riddance. I know nothing, but I’m not worried yet.

Man that was so satisfying, as was the other Hemby short yardage TD. It's kinda easy to forget now, but at the time, after Old Dominion and Iowa, we had concerns about our short yardage capabilities. This game alleviated those, to say the least.

Josh says he’s never went up against a defense as complex and disguised as Bryant’s. And it’s made him much better. ;-) Also, I just can't wait for the season to start.

Man, I really appreciate Carr coming back to IU to work with IUBB and hopefully help us get good again. Not all our former managers are willing to.

#1 INDIANA FOOTBALL 2025 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

I'm pretty sure 2026 is in the mid-30's. I'd guess we're right on the edge of the top-10. Pretty nuts. I think there are 20 or 25 schools spending pretty big, like the $30-40M range, so I think about as we're spending at a very competitive level. Beyond that, no idea, but whatever it is, it kept Cig around. -
Big.
