Coach Curt Cignetti to INDIANA... Forever and Ever, Amen!
Pagoda replied to mamasa's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I think so. Normally you'd need more than two years, but the title cemented the whole improbable turnaround story in the CFB history books for the rest of time. -

False. Cycle one the search committee interviewed no one and we hired Mike Davis. -
FWIW, on a pod yesterday Matt Weaver said he thinks IU is great shape with Monshun. He said some other positive stuff. He acknowledged you never know with recruiting. But, that’s what he said. A July decision is the rumor. Personally, if it happens I’ll be thrilled and if not I’ll be mildly bummed.

(2027) DL Jalen Brewster (5*) to TTU
Pagoda replied to Pagoda's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
For anyone still following this one, word is he is staying with TTU. -
Yea. If I had to guess it may be across the top of the north side of the west stand. Tbd. I’m not quite sure what student tickets cost — $20-30 per game I think. I’m surprised IU didn’t sell these at 2x+ the price to alumns. I thought there was a waiting list for season tickets. IU AD is always a bit of a mystery to me. But, I am in favor of students getting some priority… you only get four years and big games are fun.

Cool. I thought with all the alumni demand such a move would be unlikely… but I guess not. Should be good for the atmosphere at Memorial…

Michigan Coach Dusty May to Dallas Mavs

Nope. Though I will look at the results and formulate a viewpoint on the coach/program. And even if I did "call" for a coaching change, I am a message board poster with exactly zero, none, zilch, nada influence over the program. That is the reality. -

No. You're quite critical of his roster and I'm just asking that you give him a chance. -

False! After two seasons he got a raise and an increased buyout. And the fanbase was content. We had Kel'el coming in and things were looking alright. Then he completely collapsed, all on his own. You and I both know that. -

Season three finished #98 in the NET. Season four had top-5 roster money -- he still collapsed early on and missed the tournament again. He was given a chance. He was a terrible coach. Even worse his effort level was very poor. Yea, you are disconnected. Sorry. -

The majority of the fanbase didn't think we were getting Brad. IU fans were baffled with the Woody hire -- a failed NBA head coach with no college experience. But they gave him a chance. There was no backlash that stopped the hire like Tennessee fans did with Schiano. And Woody did a terrible job and it was 100% his fault he got fired. One fan out of a few million fans started a thread on a message board -- completely meaningless read of the fanbase. As I said, you've got the disconnect with reality. -

No. The fanbase would give RMK a shot. And it would work out because RMK is, in fact, a great coach. Ironically, you've got the biggest disconnect with reality. -
He’s melting down already does he regret leaving CBB??!!

30 min Cig interview. -
Me thinks Jeffrey Kessler will find the NFL to be a far more challenging opponent than the NCAA. Tbd…

Interesting.

Yea. And frankly I think the student attendance we get is pretty darn good for a team that has made the tourney two times in 10 years. Those sort of results at almost all other schools would get like half the attendance or less. If we have a good team and student attendance is light… I can definitely understand some criticism. But I think we need to show a pulse on the court before getting too critical. Just my $0.02, if people feel differently I get it.

IU was preseason #17 in 2024. Quinn was Chairman. It was far from a forgone conclusion the IU job was opening anytime soon. If IU is where “coaches go to die” and as you’ve said success here is impossible because of the fanbase (wrong, but your view), I still don’t know why you bother to follow the team or worry about the roster. After all, we are DOA every year, so who cares. -
FYI. Imo, better.

Flipped him from UCLA. 3* out of Tulsa, OK. Another good LB for the class.

We start building Cig's statue earlier than planned. He delivered the most improbable story in college sports history -- 98%+ of IU fans will forever be grateful for the 16-0 title in the biggest college sport. Just my $0.02. -

It's got to be weird that UM fans care more about the OSU FB game than your CBB title. Heck, I bet a decent number of them would trade their CBB natty for a few five star FB players. I don't think this plays out much differently if he came to IU. I mean, he could have come here last year and he didn't, so while I'm sure he likes IU we're not the strongest draw. I think he wants to do the NBA thing regardless, just my opinion. I'm thrilled he left UM.
