I don't think he said that on his call w/ AAU coaches, if he did there would be a firestorm right now. There were two separate things from Trilly: Brad has two weeks to decide and the AAU coaches call.

Just a guess -- but I bet Brad decides in a week or less. This decision doesn't take two weeks.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
Pagoda replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This is in the coaching candidate thread, but Trilly said Dolson is working to repair AAU/HS coach relationships in Indiana. The Woody White Knights can spare me their narrative about how we should support Woody now that he was fired. Not only was he a bad coach that divided the fanbase with his pathetic narratives, he also damaged IUBB recruiting. What a guy! And I bet he does more damage on his way out too. -
Cleaning up after Woody is going to take some time. He is the worst. Literally.
-
C'mon Scott, I know you deserve coffee and a new Cadillac El Dorado.
-
Yea, it's not really a big deal or anything. It's just the next decade or two of IUBB hanging in the balance lol.
-
If he has a computer bag or briefcase maybe drop an Airtag in there? Just kidding… kinda…

Haha. ZYN does bball too? He broke several fball recruiting stories this year. He has proven himself as legit and is worth following.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
Pagoda replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Good grief Jeff — he covers CBB and does not understand in reality Woody was fired? -
I get the concern. However, this time around Quinn doesn’t have a best pal with a failed pro coaching career who needs a higher paying and more prestigious job than NBA Assistant. If Brad says no, Scott should be allowed this time around to move on to #2 (Dusty?), and if he says no we move to choice #3, etc. until we get a yes. This is how a normal, well run school behaves. I just saw Mitch Barnhart at Kentucky go through this process — they didn’t panic after getting a few “no’s.”

Lmao Woody and his crew got their narrative to Rothstein. He is leaving out how terrible Woody is, and ignoring top-5 NIL, a very large program budget, and fantastic fan support. The fishbowl thing is nonsense. It’s only an issue for loser coaches like Mike.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

After Woody leaves if he starts blaming fans or whatever for his failures, I hope Scott and others stand up for the program and go back at him. Woody is pathetic can’t let him win the narrative. -
If we get one of them so be it, it means that was probably the best we could do. I would hope for the best. McCollum would be really interesting — seems like a wider range of potential outcomes with him.
-
UK, UL, and UM all noticed this and didn’t consider him in their recent processes. The Beard talk is tiresome. UNC won’t look at him either, he presents that same problem for all these schools.
-
Mike’s rep is back to peddle a pro-Woody narrative, but no one cares this time around. In was a weird process, but bottom line Woody got fired. Which makes sense, he is one of the worst coaches in D1 hoops.

Beard talking with Dolson: ScreenRecording_02-08-2025 12-06-38_1.mov

Things will continue to get more visceral lol. Bottom line is Scott Dolson is at the wheel. He probably doesn’t even know exactly how this will go. I am pretty calm because I trust his judgment and believe he will get us the best possible result in this search. He has been prepping for this hire for years.

I recognize your name from the Rivals site. BTB is a lot better than the Rivals board, which is a mix of (i) a bunch of old guys crying nonstop that we won’t hire Beard, (ii) no mods present allowing for endless fights between posters, (iii) PU trolls, and (iv) no interesting sources of info. Not everything is true over here, but there are some good nuggets of info every once in a while. And it’s generally entertaining and often funny, which is what message boards are really about… none of us is hiring the next coach.

$11.5M/yr is a bit hard to believe. That would make Brad perhaps the highest paid exec in the NBA. Below are some links with what other execs make. All of them, including names like Pat Riley, are less than $11.5M/yr. https://frontofficesports.com/highest-paid-nba-general-managers/ https://www.sportskeeda.com/basketball/all-time-top-5-highest-paid-nba-gms-featuring-pat-riley-bob-myers Maybe Brad does make that much… it would just be surprising. He made $4M/yr when he was the coach and tripling that to be GM doesn’t really make sense.

Are you Ken Nunn? I had to ask ;-)

As of now each school gets to decide the allocations and it is still TBD. I assume the Title IX stuff won’t stick, unlikely half the rev share going to women’s sports when FB generates most of it. Something close to 70% for FB and 20% to MBB seems likely. Then layer on NIL on top of that. I doubt the NIL Clearinghouse slows down the NIL train — no way they veto big NIL deals big schools want to make and players want to take — both sides would go to court.

$6M I heard. What a return on investment.
-
If we got him I would be beyond excited. That said, a lot of our fans, me included, would be penciling in so many future banners I would worry about the jinxes!
-
Makes sense. And on this analogy, regardless of who we get, I want Scott digging deep so we trade on as much insider info as possible.
