  1. Agree. He hasn't won big yet, but he is recruiting very well and appears to be a good coach that plays modern basketball. That's the formula for success, this isn't rocket surgery. Bonus points in that he cares and appears to be a straight shooter. It stinks, but I think they got this hire right and he is going to do very well there. Ugh.
  2. They just cannot take responsibility for their actions on and off the court. Our $1M NIL 7ft center brazenly went out to a popular bar on a Saturday night -- this is ridiculous behavior. I hope whoever the next coach is cleans house, including whoever Tyme knows in the program.
  3. Otzelberger's buyout is likely $18M+ after his latest extension. As you said, not gonna happen.
  4. Send our A-Team, Scott and Pam, to talk with Brad and Tracy. They will know how to make our best pitch. ;)
  5. He's going through the motions. And it's really not to hard for him to do -- the assistants do most of the recruiting, and he just shows up for an hour or two when the kid is on campus (assuming it's not wine and pizza time).
  6. I'm guessing it's a disaster behind the scenes. As fans we hear some of the stories, but for those in the athletic dept and very close to the program, they probably know 3x more stories and they know they're true. I doubt the pro-Woody camp will have much of a case at the end of this year. Quinn got Woody a big pay day and 4th year, but that's probably it. The bad on court results, failed recruiting, and endless stories of incompetence will be too much to overcome. Fingers crossed Scott is allowed to make this hire and he gets it right.
  7. That's a juicy lawsuit. It will be interesting if players getting shortchanged on "promises" have much luck in court. I'm glad IU appears to do a good job paying out promised NIL.
  8. It’s even worse knowing Ballo was likely held out of the game for disciplinary reasons. He doesn’t care — win, lose, play, don’t play, NIL is guaranteed.
  9. Tyme is one of the dumbest people I've ever seen on X. He was dead wrong about this season. His posts are embarrassing. And now the blame the fans narrative is starting from him and the pro-Woody crew because they have nothing else to go to after Woody still struggled with top-5 NIL. Sometimes I even see them try to criticize the FB program -- they are a desperate bunch. Many of them will root against IU once Woody is fired. Fans are not the problem. In fact, one of the few blue blood/elite thing we have left are our fans. But fans just cheer, donate, and react to wins/losses (almost entirely online -- in person the team is treated like gods 99% of the time). Fans don't recruit and coach the team that either wins or loses (duh). There is not that much pressure to coach or play at IU. The bar isn't that high. After Woody's first two mediocre to okay years, fanbase support was very strong. Things only went south when TJD left and Woody's program literally imploded. Show me a fanbase happy with an imploding program. Go back to the Crean years -- fans were impressively patient during three very down years of rebuilding. The fact is IUBB has broken the unwritten pact with the fans. Fans really want to support IUBB, but IUBB has to put forth maximum effort and make a competent attempt to be good. Everyone sees the lack of effort, from recruiting to on the court, and we all know the pathetic behind the scenes stories too. Everyone sees the lack of competence, from missing on almost every HS recruit for two years despite top-5 NIL, to all the bad losses/blowouts to programs with far less resources. Maybe even worse than the lack of effort and competency, is Woody and others around the program refusing take responsibility and ownership for the results on the court. This is the most basic thing they need to do to succeed, and they can't even do that. They blame injuries, blame fans, blame recruits, and try to argue they're actually doing well. Pathetic. Woody and his cronies have done serious damage to IUBB. And it appears they aren't done. On the way out, it looks like we'll get another attack on the fans, which will turn more people off on IUBB. It's a shame, IUBB is special, but the people running it have ruined it. I can only hope Scott and the next coach can completely clean house and get rid of the toxic leadership that has wrecked the program.
  10. It’s all out there. Talk to any journalist that covers IU or anyone around the program. That would be some good homework for you, you don’t seem to know much about IUBB coaching hires.
  11. He was a crony hire. That’s not the “market.”
  12. I’m looking at the jobs he had. After his stint as an NBA head coach (he was fired), he was an NBA assistant. He kept interviewing for NBA head coaching jobs, but he didn’t get any of them. He was stuck as an NBA assistant. Facts.
  13. It’s a post explaining market worth. On his own merits without help from a powerful friend, the market decided he was an NBA assistant level coach.
  14. The program trashed itself. This is just fans reacting to what they are witnessing.
  15. Yes. Aside from Quinn, the market looked at his poor coaching track record and decided he was an NBA Assistant level coach. He was probably making around $1M/yr doing that. Woody couldn’t make anywhere remotely close to $4M/yr outside of IU.
  16. Ha, by refusing to answer, he tells us quite a bit. Sounds like a disciplinary issue…
  17. And 5% three point shooting for the game. Five Percent. At home. Vs. Winthrop. How is that possible?
  18. AMF hangover? https://x.com/oftendaunted/status/1873441491202510994?s=46&t=zoBJGD5TXRBDk1ODyOZqlg
  19. Maybe my intel is off, but it seems we're struggling a bit to get her much NIL? If so, that stinks. The growth of the WBB program under her leadership has been excellent and seeing attendance grow over the years has been awesome. I'm sure she'll be fine, but if we could get her some more resources for players that would be great. IUWBB could be a top-5 program -- we have the coach, fan interest, and facilities. Perhaps the rev share will help -- we can chip off some of that $22M/yr to WBB.
  20. So painful. Gonna suck watching him tear it up in college knowing he was IU’s to lose and Woody did just that.
  21. Archie looked like a good hire from a distance. I was excited. But, none of us were in those coaches interviews to get all the detailed information -- personalities, their visions for IUBB, why they thought they would succeed at IU like they did at their current job, what resources they wanted, reference checks, etc. As fans we don't get all that key detail. This is where the AD has to earn their big bucks and determine which coaches will translate to IU and which ones won't. It's hard, but that's the key judgement call we need Scott to get right. Fred got it wrong with Archie unfortunately.
  22. It will be interesting to see what the rev share contracts look like. NIL deals are obviously private, but for public schools I'm sure journalists (or forum posters) will FOIA the players' rev share contracts. There won't be transfer fees, but perhaps we see buyouts in those rev share contracts. That would be a good thing imo -- some compensation for the school that developed the player, and it makes transfers a bit more costly, which could reduce the number of transfers. I don't think the buyouts will be large, but just having those in there would be useful. We'll see. In general, I'm glad players are getting paid, but as part of that I'd like to see the employee/employer relationship professionalized more than it is now -- as is contracts that look like the pro ones.
  23. '86 per another poster's analogy. Hopefully this is what our program looks like post-Woodson, it's definitely a clunker right now.
  24. He's a POS. Though it’s probably a benefit the women’s team didn’t have to listen to him — he’s a loser.
