Anyone writing negative comments under X's post is an idiot. This isn't X's fault (assuming he isn't SDB) and it's perfectly reasonable that he wants to support his old coach. This is coming from someone who does not like X. Quinn, Fergie, and friends 100% brought this on themselves. They treated IUBB like their personal playground and ran it into the ground. I still can't get over how selfish they were as stewards of program that means so much to the university, its alumni/fans, and Bloomington/the state. Literally disgusting behavior. In six months, Quinn will be off the board and focused on the Pacers and other things. Mike will be in Georgia or wherever he normally lives and go back to not following IUBB. I'm sure they'll quickly forget about the last four years. One thing they won't forget is the extra $18M Quinn got Woody with the IU contract, I bet they strategize on how to spend and invest that. How nice. Meanwhile, IU, Dolson, and the new coach/staff will be stuck cleaning up the mess these two selfish men left behind.

Dude continues to crave attention. He is wounded after his boy Woody failed and now he wants this hire to go poorly to get back at the fans he hates so much.

I am optimistic this is Scott's call and I believe in Scott. He can deliver another good hire for us!

Yea. Hard to prove though. The thing that sucks is the perpetrators are so insulated.

If he stayed in the NBA as an assistant he was making maybe $1M/yr. Instead he got $3-4M/yr, an extra $16-18M vs his dead NBA career. This has always been the driving force behind his friends getting him to IU — getting him on the gravy train. It’s some of the worst behavior I can imagine from a Chairman of the Board and a big donor.

Chairman of Cook Medical, our biggest donor is Cook, so he is tight with the family. He was a mentor to Woody when he was a player here. He was a Trustee (Chairman for a while) and he knows everyone, including Governors. He’s influential and will push for his old pals to get jobs at the expense of IUBB.

Sure seems like one. They love Woody much more than IUBB and have no concept of the history of IUBB.

I’m not sure Quinn has much incentive to do that. I think he only cares about his cronies. Thankfully he has no more he wants to hire. I guess Ferguson may be upset, but his last name still isn’t Cook and Yonkman is still there so I’m not sure the Cook money would slow down. I do agree Scott is navigating a shitstorm right now. But the hiring decision should be his. We shall see! Nerve-wracking to follow…

It’s possible, but I hold out hope that while QB can be a pain on Woody’s exit, he doesn’t have the political capital to influence the next hire (except saying no to someone with baggage). At this point, I think Scott has enough people on his side to give him control on the next hire. Just my opinion.

Woody will soon no longer be the coach, and he will never return to Bloomington or watch IU. Just like after he was done playing here. He only came back four years ago because his buddy arranged a large pot of money + status vs. his dead end NBA assistant gig.

It’s not personal. Just some fact finding and investigating to get the whole picture. IUBB is the team of a public university and it has a lot of fans. People should know how it is being run. Maybe nothing is found, but it’s worth a look.

I would love this. FOIA some emails. I don’t know the conflict disclosure requirements, but I bet Woody is a client of Quinn’s wealth management firm and I also bet they do real estate deals together. Quinn’s cronyism and neglect of IUBB has been disgusting and disgraceful.

I wish we had some media willing to wait outside AH to try to catch Woody when he goes into the office. Trying to get a comment from him would be good content.

For sure. Mike is flat out bad for IUBB, and he is going to be even worse now since he is a sensitive idiot that feels slighted and angry after being forced out/fired. IUBB really needs him out ASAP so everyone can move on and not have to deal with toxic Mike. For heavens sake, IUBB is bigger than Woodson and his feelings. But, it seems like they're going the ugly route. Whatever, all that really matters is the next hire.

He's done. The "contemplating" and "considering" retirement talk is IU allowing him to save face. He can either pretend he decided to retire, or if he doesn't, he will be fired.

The DUI was a mistake, and he was at .12, so not exactly a bad break after two or three drinks. But yea, huge difference between DV allegations and a DUI. Notably, Few is not a serious reputation risk to IU. Now maybe Scott and Pam look into Beard and get comfortable with what happened... we'll see. I am not debating Beard, that's a no-go for this thread.
