  1. Makes sense. And on this analogy, regardless of who we get, I want Scott digging deep so we trade on as much insider info as possible.
  2. It's hard to figure out which coach will blow up and be awesome, and it can be risky, but that's what a great AD can do...
  3. Reputation issues that come from having a coach with DV problems, among other issues like drinking. The risk that he does something again at UNC, which would embarrass the school and get their AD fired. He is just a tough guy to hire for big time programs.
  4. Those people appear to be out of this hiring process.
  5. It would be very surprising if UNC hired Beard. They will have the same issues IU does. UK looked at a lot of coaches last year and Beard’s name never really came up. The issues aren’t unique to IU.
  6. Cignetti and the overall development of FB is enough evidence for me Scott can get this right.
  7. This is what another poster (Eyedoc) linked to. It’s an example. https://x.com/lubbockist/status/1488482798377779203?s=46&t=zoBJGD5TXRBDk1ODyOZqlg I’ve already posted about him, not much left to argue about.
  8. If we continue to hear pretty much no rumors over the next few weeks from Trilly, Thamel, etc., the higher the chance Scott already has his guy.
  9. In the UK search it seemed like they couldn’t even get Oats to engage, he was a quick “no.” It will be tough, but he is worth our best shot if Brad passes.
  10. NIL era is reducing an important Bill Self competitive advantage…
  11. On this note, I’m optimistic we can get our athletics org chart fixed in the next few months. Scott has the long history at IU and he’s developing a track record that will allow him to fill the power vacuum when Quinn leaves. The next BoT Chair should be less interested in meddling with sports. The donors should be embarrassed and neutered after their Woody support, so they will pipe down. Pam should be supporting Scott and providing cover from bad outside influences. If the above happens things will be much healthier with Scott running the atheltic dept and therefore he can be held accountable for the teams’ results. Cig always references Scott and Pam and constantly thanks them. That’s who he interacts with and that is exactly how it should work. No trustees, donors, old mentors… these are all bad influences that should not be involved. I hope our next bball coach talks about Scott and Pam the same way Cig does. That would be some much welcomed stability after 25 years of people meddling with the bball program.
  12. Upside of losing today is it keeps making Woody look terrible. I’m so sick of him. The more losses the worse he and his cronies look.
  13. When Dusty was asked about the IU job in the postgame conference he did not demonstrably deny interest and therefore he tacitly indicated he would take the job.
  14. The media that covers IU is so soft. They should just ask, it’s a huge story. It’s another reason the IU job is great. No need to answer hard questions if you don’t want to. Gee what an intimidating “fish bowl.”
  15. Search firm may also help with background checks, data on market compensation, and good old CYA to make sure we don’t miss anything.
  16. Dusty told Fisch he is sticking around after the game to have dinner with Scott and talk numbers.
  17. Woody sounded really tired in the pregame segment, though that isn’t totally abnormal. He acknowledged a lot was going on with the program including him, and that the players need to stay focused and that they have more games etc. Nothing too interesting.
  18. Yea, hopefully Scott can figure it out. I say this a lot, but beyond Brad I have no idea who we should hire. I’ve never met these guys and interviewed them. I don’t know who translates to IU and who is Archie. There is so much I don’t know and never will get to. But, it’s fun to speculate and joke about the process as it plays out. It’s also pretty stressful… it’s a massive hire.
  19. Like him or not, he is one of the best minds in basketball. He runs the Boston Celtics and is the NBA Exec of the Year. It’s not like he only knows NBA bball and can’t understand college bball. He has done the college thing and he was awesome at that too.
  20. I would guess it’s both. If Brad doesn’t want the job, he is still a great source for thoughts on who would do well at IU. He is the GM of the current NBA Champions… he knows personnel decisions.
  21. I’m think Scott should look into what happened with Beard. Talk with him, listen to the recording, talk with UT, check with PI’s, etc. See if he changed, assess the risk of further issues, and determine if there is an angle to hire him. I kind of doubt there is, but I don’t know, maybe there is. If they look into it and he is hirable, great, he is a good coach. It’s easy to say just ignore it, the charges were dropped, give a second chance, etc. But the fact is, and try to put yourself in Scott and Pam’s shoes, IU’s reputation matters and is valuable. Hire Beard and fair or unfair, what he was accused of will be associated with IU. Everything written and said about the hire will include the allegations. Scott and Pam will have to endure an onslaught from some faculty and fans. And if Beard does something wrong here, IU’s reputation will be significantly damaged. Scott would 100% fired and Pam may be fired too. IU, Pam, and Scott take on a lot of risk if they hire him. I’m not trying to debate the details of what happened and if he is okay to hire. I’m just saying any big brand program, UNC, KU, IU, UK, you name it, will face issues hiring someone with his background. UK looked at a lot of coaches in their search last year and his name never really came up. It gets very complicated with him. We’ll see what happens.
  22. Anyone writing negative comments under X's post is an idiot. This isn't X's fault (assuming he isn't SDB) and it's perfectly reasonable that he wants to support his old coach. This is coming from someone who does not like X. Quinn, Fergie, and friends 100% brought this on themselves. They treated IUBB like their personal playground and ran it into the ground. I still can't get over how selfish they were as stewards of program that means so much to the university, its alumni/fans, and Bloomington/the state. Literally disgusting behavior. In six months, Quinn will be off the board and focused on the Pacers and other things. Mike will be in Georgia or wherever he normally lives and go back to not following IUBB. I'm sure they'll quickly forget about the last four years. One thing they won't forget is the extra $18M Quinn got Woody with the IU contract, I bet they strategize on how to spend and invest that. How nice. Meanwhile, IU, Dolson, and the new coach/staff will be stuck cleaning up the mess these two selfish men left behind.
  23. Dude continues to crave attention. He is wounded after his boy Woody failed and now he wants this hire to go poorly to get back at the fans he hates so much.
  24. I am optimistic this is Scott's call and I believe in Scott. He can deliver another good hire for us!
  25. And make sure the effin burners and/or their sources are gone.
