  1. I doubt he was the catalyst for the raise. He has to manage all the politics behind the scenes with Quinn and the donors. Can’t have angry donors. He is figuring that out and Woody will almost certainly be fired by end of year. And going forward Scott will likely have much more control over bball. Got to give him credit on FB, it’s by far the most important sport and thanks to what he did athletic dept revenues are going to increase significantly by tens of millions of dollars. The exposure IU got from Big Noon, GameDay, and being good was valued at $7.5M. It’s been very impressive, no one has done this at IU before.
  2. He didn’t hire Woody.
  3. IMO also nice Dolson was vindicated in wanting to get rid of him. Everyone needs to stfu and listen to Scott. He’s our best shot.
  4. Could happen. I think the $22M rev share kicking in may be a factor, even with the media rights increasing as we saw the athletic dept making cuts to help fund this rev share. We shall see.
  5. Ha, reminds me of this Lionel Hutz classic
  6. Not anymore. When he got his 2023 raise (smh) his buyout flipped to the full amount of his contract, no step downs. We owe him $4.2M this season and $8.4M for the next two seasons no matter when he is let go. It stinks. Buyout is payable at $1M per year though, which helps us absorb it over time.
  7. Could be. A potential offset is he threw this game away, and maybe if someone else was in charge doing basic end of game coaching we win. Just thinking out loud. I have no idea what will happen.
  8. It will be rough. The whole point of our bball program is to build a capable and mentally tough team that can win big, tough games. We aren’t that, and it’s going to be a beating. Players’ NIL checks will still be coming though. They will get over it.
  9. SHUT IT FORNELLI!!! I like Tom. Unfortunately we left the door open to get some ribbing.
  10. Also layer in the $17M operating budget, more or less the highest in the conference.
  11. $6M spent and we suck. I didn’t think he could be this bad, but I was wrong.
  12. Time for Woody to hit the Fellas Lounge to get over this tough loss.
  13. The King is gonna survive this one. EDIT: No!
  14. As T. S. Elliot wrote in The Hollow Man: “This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang, but a whimper.”
  15. They are much more serious than we are.
  16. Texas just haunts A&M in FB, and losing in bball is more salt in wounds.
  17. Yea. Lose tomorrow and it could start a particularly nasty losing streak. Win and the win/loss record continues to look good enough to keep going.
  18. I think she has some connection in the athletic department, but not much given what she posts. She seems to mostly be here for attention and to defend Woody and his backers. I don’t trust anything she posts.
  19. I've heard bball donations from normal fans (both to the athletic dept and NIL) are way down. Our mega donors can make up for this, but the small fans do add up to millions of $, and thankfully it sounds like they're all giving to football where their money is used about 1,000x better. I'm sure bball gameday revenue is down too. And lastly, bball is marketing for the university, and we've totally irrelevant, so none of that is happening. Sucking at basketball has a lot of negative financial impacts.
  20. Yea, the University President is a good thing to have! And “Scott’s Way” delivered a packed Memorial Stadium, unprecedented national recognition in the one sport that matters most by a mile, and he is bringing in tens of millions of $ into the athletic dept., something no AD has done before. Contrast that to the bball program tire fire. People are likely going to listen to Scott this time around.
  21. Penn St. is offering $3.2M to OSU’s Jim Knowles to be their DC. Huge offer. ND and Oklahoma also in the mix.
  22. Yea, it is kinda odd to commit to a program and bank on the next coach being a fit. I guess the commits and next coach can decide if the commitment makes sense and back out of it if needed, so it's not a big deal. I get Trent's situation more than the Bosnian player. And I think Trent will be good here. This is the problem with keeping Woody around this season. He spent $6M on the current roster and he didn't spend the money well. He whiffed on our top HS targets except one who just loves IU. Now he's getting a commit from another player he probably won't coach on who knows what NIL/rev share terms. I wish we had our new coach in place last year to spend the large sum of $6M and assemble the HS class he wants that fits whatever our new system would be. A new coach could have also saved some recruitments Woody messed up. Instead we have this too small HS class Woody put together that may or may not fit for the next coach. Ugh.
