  1. SHUT IT FORNELLI!!! I like Tom. Unfortunately we left the door open to get some ribbing.
  2. Also layer in the $17M operating budget, more or less the highest in the conference.
  3. $6M spent and we suck. I didn’t think he could be this bad, but I was wrong.
  4. Time for Woody to hit the Fellas Lounge to get over this tough loss.
  5. The King is gonna survive this one. EDIT: No!
  6. As T. S. Elliot wrote in The Hollow Man: “This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang, but a whimper.”
  7. They are much more serious than we are.
  8. Texas just haunts A&M in FB, and losing in bball is more salt in wounds.
  9. Yea. Lose tomorrow and it could start a particularly nasty losing streak. Win and the win/loss record continues to look good enough to keep going.
  10. I think she has some connection in the athletic department, but not much given what she posts. She seems to mostly be here for attention and to defend Woody and his backers. I don’t trust anything she posts.
  11. I've heard bball donations from normal fans (both to the athletic dept and NIL) are way down. Our mega donors can make up for this, but the small fans do add up to millions of $, and thankfully it sounds like they're all giving to football where their money is used about 1,000x better. I'm sure bball gameday revenue is down too. And lastly, bball is marketing for the university, and we've totally irrelevant, so none of that is happening. Sucking at basketball has a lot of negative financial impacts.
  12. Yea, the University President is a good thing to have! And “Scott’s Way” delivered a packed Memorial Stadium, unprecedented national recognition in the one sport that matters most by a mile, and he is bringing in tens of millions of $ into the athletic dept., something no AD has done before. Contrast that to the bball program tire fire. People are likely going to listen to Scott this time around.
  13. Penn St. is offering $3.2M to OSU’s Jim Knowles to be their DC. Huge offer. ND and Oklahoma also in the mix.
  14. Yea, it is kinda odd to commit to a program and bank on the next coach being a fit. I guess the commits and next coach can decide if the commitment makes sense and back out of it if needed, so it's not a big deal. I get Trent's situation more than the Bosnian player. And I think Trent will be good here. This is the problem with keeping Woody around this season. He spent $6M on the current roster and he didn't spend the money well. He whiffed on our top HS targets except one who just loves IU. Now he's getting a commit from another player he probably won't coach on who knows what NIL/rev share terms. I wish we had our new coach in place last year to spend the large sum of $6M and assemble the HS class he wants that fits whatever our new system would be. A new coach could have also saved some recruitments Woody messed up. Instead we have this too small HS class Woody put together that may or may not fit for the next coach. Ugh.
  15. I still can’t wrap my head around this fact. All those practices with one of the best ever and he is clueless as a college coach.
  16. It might be pizza night at the Fellas Lounge, if so he is booked up.
  17. A Mack Financial Partner with initials QB?
  18. I listen to Fornelli quite a bit on pods like Cover 3, in my opinion he’s a good guy and a jokester. He gets IU and I think he is just poking fun at the Brad Stevens talk that comes up every coaching search. He wouldn’t have sources on this sort of thing.
  19. What's depressing is I've heard from some AAU/high school coaches that the assistants actually bust their butts recruiting and do a pretty good job. However, the head coach and recruitment closer is very bad and wastes a lot of their hard work.
  20. Yea, there are some differing views on what it will take for IUBB to get rid of the current coaches. I'm so focused on getting Woody out I'd rather endure some sort term losses to guarantee it, but I get fans that prefer cheering for IU. Regardless, I am optimistic Scott can get this next hire right, and also get our org chart fixed with the new coach reporting to Scott and Pam with the donors/trustees staying more in the background like they should. Basically, the Cignetti model, aka Organization Management 101. Cig constantly mentions two people -- Pam and Scott. It's beautiful. Hopefully next season the whole fanbase can just focus on the basketball again.
  21. His window to save the season and have a chance to keep his job is getting pretty small.
  22. Giving up 54 in the second half was good “tank.”
