I'm sorry. I've seen a lot of crazy stuff on this site over the last couple of weeks. Without having any special knowledge, I can't imagine that IU would hire a 60 year old coach, who isn't even currently a head coach, with a middling career record. They already did that, and they only hired him because he was a former great player 40+ years ago, and he was a horrible failure as a coach. I can't believe that people are taking these brand new posters seriously at this point. LOL

That cycle misses the step where the coach not named Brad Stevens loses a lot of games.

If all of this works out, how does Braylon Mullins feel? Of course he'll go to UCONN and play for currently the best college coach. But seeing Brad Stevens go to his home state school would have to be tough. He'd be a virtual God in his home state. He would probably make more NIL at IU and the only coach who is arguably on Hurley's level right now would Stevens due to his high-level of success in both college and the pros. It would have to hurt a little, at least...

I thought the only reason Pastner ever got hired in the first place was his link to AAU/travel programs. It had nothing to do with any alleged coaching abilities. NIL would essentially make Pastner even less revelant in 2025. Yikes!

I mean, I absolutely hate how Hurley conducts himself on the sidelines, but give me 2 consecutive championships and I think I'd be apt to overlook it. LOL

We could find most high school coaches who would be better bench coaches than our current bench coach, so...

I think the open IU job is going to get A LOT of guys raises in the next few weeks, if their agents are good...

This. It is all about whether he wants to coach in college again. It's pretty simple. I know there are other factors, such as the possible sale of the Celtics, does the wife want to move, etc... I honestly would guess that the decision about Stevens is already known. Either he's coming to IU or Dolson is already working on another candidate. And I know that I'm one of the few people around here who feel this way, but I'm not 100 percent sure that Stevens is a sure slam dunk as a college coach at a high major in 2025. I know...I know... I'm a philistine. Carry on...

How wild would it be if it turned out that KathywithaC turned out to be Chris' wife? That would make for some really crazy dinnertime conversations...LOL

That's the thing. I'm pretty damned old and I don't even remember Woodson the player. At this point, the overwhelming majority of our fans don't either. They only know Woodson as the thin-skinned, ego-maniacal, underachieving coach that we see today.

Everyone. I repeat, everyone, in the B1G fears who IU will get in bball coaching position. Also, everyone, I repeat, everyone, knows that IU has been whiffing on filling the bbal coaching position for the last 25 years. It's quite the paradox. I'm sure a heck of a lot of coaches and fans breathed a big sigh of relief 4 years ago when Woodson was hired.

Yeah, and I hope that's not true. If you don't get 1a, then go for 1b, then 1c and so on down the list. Last time, IU missed on 1a and then went to 1zzz. Can't skip those steps this time.

Agree. Why would Oats leave? Alabama has plenty of money. Oats has that program absolutely rolling. Oats has no emotional ties to Indiana. Why in the world would he leave?
