  1. That is possible, but we need to see massive improvement over the next 3 or so games. Massive. Neither of the two teams we beat are any good at all. The score in each of those equates to a loss in my mind even if it doesn't show up on the stat sheet. If you go and look t Crean's first two years, his team's didn't even struggle as bad against the worst of the bottom feeders in D1. I think we have players and we can get it turned around, but that turn around has to happen by end of December, not January or later. We have a tough schedule basically from Connecticut through the Big Ten. There won't be many more gimmes coming up to get right and I don't know if this team has the mental toughness to get shellacked in Nov/Dec and not go down the tubes.
  2. You are doing to Cupps what you accuse others of doing to X and MM....
  3. Here is the thing though, you cannot take too many lumps early because you have a bar you have to be able to pass to make the late season "good team" have anything to play for....and NIT isn't something any of us care about right now. With the roster turnover like it is, you aren't developing squat in the NIT. Tournament or bust.
  4. Even moreso now with NIL. There aren't many programs that can match what we can do with NIL right now.
  5. Few things: 1. Can we wait for the pick before we all lose our ****? 2. I know people have "info" and that is all well and good but I think almost everyone's info up until the point where a kid reaches out to a school and says "I am going to pick you..." is pretty much just conjecture. Some dude posts gifs and memes on Twitter (X) and has people flipping out one way or the other. Just assume that no one knows anything and stop getting your hopes up based on internet speculation.
  6. In my opinion, you got to when the off-season before you can win the post season.
  7. Yeah but that is all considered NIL now and completely legal. In the past Kansas would bring an Adidas rep along for those conversations, "If you come here we can get you $250K from Adidas." Now with NIL and the collectives they can still do that, but so can we. I think we maybe dipped our toe into that pool in the past. When the rules changed we did a cannonball into the pool. Hey recruits, we have one of the biggest and most passionate basketball fan bases in college basketball and here is what that means to your NIL. Our 13th guy on the bench made enough to pay off his sister's 4 year college debt in one year. It is likely those 2 walk ons we added this year (who could have gotten a scholarship somewhere else) probably still aren't paying for their school. We always had the crazy fans, the good atmosphere, and the basketball history. What we didn't have for most of the past 30 years was the bag of cash. Now we do. And that puts us right back into the desirable location to play ball as long as we make good coaching decisions.
  8. We can bring a bag of money now too. NIL from that perspective was about the best thing for IU. It made it legal (so we would be comfortable doing it) to do the stuff those other blue bloods have been doing for 3 decades. We look to be in a spot where we are starting to get the recruits. If the wins follow, fans of other teams are going to start looking at who is recruiting a dude and think "sh*t" when they see that IU symbol on there.
  9. Not picking up the phone to call Woodson 5 years earlier than we did is looking more and more dumb as time goes on.
  10. I was there, it was. The student side was pretty sparsely filled at the beginning of the game. The students had a pretty good turnout to start. Their corner of the stadium was full from bottom to top until halftime.....60% of them disappeared at halftime and never came back. What little energy that was in the stadium to begin with left with them. That being said, those students that stayed ended up moving from side to side of the stadium during the OT to at least have some noise for Akron to deal with. Nothing about this program changes unless we start winning games. I don't think the current staff is building a winning culture. I think the AD needs to hire someone that can force a culture (and sometimes that looks mean) and if they can't get their guy initially they need to overpay to get him. There should be one more facility upgrade in the works short term and then a full on push to get the best staff possible.
  11. Go up to Muncie again and grab the Sellers kid.
  12. Because he is Flory Bidunga and his daughter is a moron who saw tall black guy and figured they must be the same?
  13. I don't know who that is...in reference to Ledlum.
  14. What this does it make it so that we don't have as large a drop off when we have to go to the bench next year. We don't have a ceiling as high as we had with TJD but we have a higher floor now no matter who is in the game at the 4/5. We won't have to ride any of these 4 guys into the ground like we did Trayce. (And we probably couldn't if we wanted to)
  15. Anybody not named Reneau asking for a big pay day is delusional.
  16. That is on the assistant staff more than anyone IMO.
  17. The bench guys who scored zero points last night? Best of luck to them.
  18. Last week was rough for Indiana basketball. Let's go get that BTT bye to start this week.
  19. Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. It is all about getting 9 teams in and the money that comes with it. Who cares if you win it all when all that sweet cash is flowing in.
  20. So the defender should foul the bejeezus out of a guy and it should be let go. The move on that going forward is a massive reach in or slap at the 3 point line. (I got $ that says that would be called though...just like if Galloway recovered and continued to lunge through Buie after the initial push off.)
  21. I don't think coaches are allowed to do that anymore. It has to come from the public announcer. The crowd could also be charged a technical foul if it continues after a warning.
  22. The ACC doesn't let it's two best teams lose back to back games to a middle of the pack team because of officiating either. The Big Ten trades higher seeds for more teams in the tournament.
  23. I think that is honestly a step down now.
  24. Rutgers is up there as probably my least favorite team right now. Don't get me wrong, always want to beat Purdue, but Rutgers are some *******.
