They must have moved him. He was doing the mornings. You get my overall point though. The morning guys would have hit us for it. Jake would hit us for it from 12-3. Then JMV would hop on and hit us for it from 3-6. It would have been a solid day of the takes we are seeing on these boards being aired out the day after the loss. I think a few days in between will soften the takes a bit.
-
He doesn't but Jake Query does and he was letting us have it on Twitter. He represents the morning drive into work. JMV wouldn't let that go, he represents the drive home. The Colts season is over and the two things that drive interest in Indianapolis Sports talk radio are the Colts (by far) and then IU. They will probably still have this disaster teed up for Monday but people will have had more time to cool off. Indiana being bad is a bigger story than anyone else in the area being good. Pissed Hoosiers drive ratings.

They were kind of lucky this was a Friday game. If it was Tuesday they would have gotten destroyed in the local media all day long on Wednesday. That radio program writes itself in the major markets in the state.

People your age aren't the worry. The worry is the people who are about 30 and younger. We have been mostly mediocre to bad their entire life. Your loyalty is based on watching 3 national championships in your formative years and then another good run in 1992. You then saw a bit of a drop and then another good run in 2002. All that before you hit 40 or so. Then the wasteland after that. People under 30 are mostly the wasteland. They haven't had all of that history to support the loyalty. They have only heard of what this was but to them it is ancient history. I am 45 and I think it is People like me who are the tail end of the people who really remember what we were. I was in 2nd grade for our last title. I think there are quite a few less die hard in my age group and younger and that isn't even accounting for the bandwagon people that have no attachment to the school that we aren't winning over right now. If things are not improved soon, the people who remember the good times are going to be outnumbered by those who mostly remember bad. When that happens this program is starting over from scratch. We are Iowa at that point.

Chris Beard isn't the end all and be all. There are other options available who will do well and haven't put hands on their wife. I don't understand the dogged determination to push a guy with that many red flags.

You are rug sweeping quite a bit more than just "drinking beer"....

I haven't talked to him so I don't know. Do you? Is he even actively looking for a coaching job at the moment? He did announcing last year. Maybe he is looking at options. Maybe the way he was convinced to pack up his family and move here only to get tossed out after a year with a knife in his back from the awesome IU culture led him to reevaluate if he wanted to mess with this crap again right away. People at his own school drug him through the mud. He has a young family that he uprooted to move to Bloomington to have all that happen. He has made a decent amount of money as an assistant coach so maybe he tried to take a break. Who knows. What I do know is that the narrative around that which got pushed came from the very people who are the authors of the current **** show. So why should I take everything they say at face value? And that includes Woodson.

I think somebody dropped your AI on its head.

I don't know what Fife has got going on. I know he has a wife from Indiana who he uprooted (with young kids) from a longstanding gig with MSU to go to Bloomington. Maybe he decided to take a moment before really attempting to get back into things. Do you know if he is actively looking? If he is being selective? If he has had feelers put out to him and they just weren't a good fit? Nobody wanted Mike Woodson either. NBA or otherwise, based on that same measuring stick. So who is the idiot bad coach?
-
And that assumption is being made based off the story put out by the people who ran him off. The people we are all now discussing running off. I would take Fife over Rosemond and Hunter every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Those two dudes are supposedly here for recruiting and all the big recruiting wins lately have come from Walsh. Those guys haven't done **** since Dane was fired.
-
He had one and fired him.
-
I think I am there with you. I just don't think anyone is going to have the appetite to pull the trigger. Woody will want a chance to not go out on a sour note and his backers in the administration will want to allow for that. We have to hope we pull some guards out of the portal (again) and I would like to see some staff changes.
-
You think he will up and quit? I think if he has a bad year he will want to stick around to show an improvement before he would voluntarily leave.
-
I would be shocked if Woodson stepped down after this year.
-
People at the game said the boos were more directed at the officials...

I don't know, I think he would have stunted JHS's growth. And based on last night, XJ still has quite a bit of stupid in the tank.

The program is in trouble when the Baby Boomers are gone and Gen X starts to pass. I am the tail end of Gen X. I was a senior when Knight was fired. I was 21 at the time and we made the NCAA tournament all but 1 year of my life up to that point. We have made it 12 times since and 6 of those 12 occurred within 8 years of him being let go. I had my oldest son in 2008. We have only made the tournament 6 times in his 15 years. He isn't really interested much at all and I don't think he is an outlier for his age group. This program has a really big problem if it doesn't change things quick. Those who remember what it was are not getting any younger and those behind us haven't had a whole lot to want to throw time and money behind. We are well on our way to being Iowa in a generation.
