  1. To the point of recruiting stalling out, kiss that 2025 group from Indiana goodbye.
  2. They had a $5 million surplus this year.... I don't blame the alum who isn't keen on just writing them a blank check for just anyone though. I wouldn't trust then with my money either.
  3. Calbert is in an AD position. He may be on the bench but when it comes to coaching he is the 6th or 7th voice on that bench at best.
  4. Apathy. The only thing that matters now is what happens in the offseason. The rest of these games don't mean anything.
  5. I don't mind the alternate jerseys. Based on what I have seen of them, I just don't like those jerseys. They look cheap.
  6. Boo Buie is the type of guard that we struggle against. I am expecting a loss but am honestly kind of indifferent. You want to win but I don't feel it really matters. We aren't going to be playing in the tournament this year and we are no threat to do anything of note in conference so this is really just playing out the string with a team that is going to be half gone next year. I don't even know if I will be bothered to watch.
  7. "You see Quinn, there was this hump. I pushed them and I climbed it myself and tried to pull them over, but the hump was just too big for them."
  8. I am not and do not want to throw him out the door. The current coaching staff....well....
  9. We don't know the Purdue side, we have a rumor of the Galloway side. Their wish may be Purdue but that may not fit with what Purdue has going on. I think the bigger issue would be that your likely team leader not only this year, but next as well, is bought out enough that he is looking to bail after 4 years at the school and 2 in the current staff's system. Things are always fluid and this is just info of what has been heard being shared but it just keeps snowballing the potentially monumental rebuild that is going to have to occur from March to May at likely the latest. You are talking about threading the smallest of needles in a likelihood for success. And if it is true they are doing the with us or against us stuff at the moment, that doesn't leave the impression that they have alot of buy in right now. We have all seen these shows before. This is the death rattle of a coaching tenure. "Mike is getting another year...." Awesome, so another year of IU basketball thrown in the trash because the likelihood of this ending well is really low.
  10. Indiana University, commitment to making the wrong decisions since 2000.
  11. Next year is going to be a **** show.
  12. @ISP, saw you deleted pretty quick but tue evidence is already there. Galloway is probably the only player that fits but I can think of several schools that would suck. That isn't my question though, do we know what this particular player is not happy with?
  13. The tournament shouldn't be the deciding factor. Based on what was posted last night though, is he even target #1 or would it be like Bruce Pearl? Gotta admit I was kind of surprised to hear that name.
  14. I say that because at best you think he gets to 72. I figured it would be more like 6 years though. ETA: Either way though, you don't want to start over with a 66 year old who only has a few years left in the tank to begin with.
  15. To me it is as simple as this. You hired Woodson figuring he had 10 years at best (I figured 6). He is 30-50% through that timeframe and has taken such a step back that he is now basically starting over from scratch. The roster overhaul needed, lack of recruits committed, and poor play demonstrated are the types of things you see for a guy who is on his way out. I don't see the point in investing in him in another rebuild that he is likely not going to see to fruition whether he gets us back to the tournament next year or not.
  16. So the players aren't listening to Woodson and he is really telling them to take those shots they are passing up and nothing happens to them when they don't take those shots. So coaching. Thanks for making my point.
  17. Not saying their games are alike, I am saying that he would be told to do exactly what Gabe is told to do. That would render him mostly ineffective. Watch Gunn leave and go someplace and put up numbers like Bates has since leaving. I don't think all the players are the problem. Which is why Essegian would struggle in the system like Cupps has.
  18. He would be Gabe Cupps in our offense. I don't think all of our guards just are going off script and doing the opposite of what they are coached to do. If they have a guy closing on them at the 3 line, they are told to shot fake and take a dribble or two inside the arc and shoot. They all do it, that is coaching. I think Adragna posted something last week on Twitter that had fast break 3's and 3's that were the result of a pass out from the post as two types of three point shots we had the best percentage of hitting. We have 2 centers that rarely kick the ball out and we never run. That is coaching. I think Essegian would be a nice bench piece on a system team. Indiana is not that nor is it likely to be that while Woodson is here. We are Mercenary U and the transfer portal will be our free agency. We are also likely to be a +/- 3 20-10 team every year with that philosophy. And the University will love that because that is just good enough to keep all the schmuck fans on the hook to keep giving them money. I fully believe the only reason we made a move in football this year is because they got scared enough with all the conference realignment to realize their Big Ten gravy train was in jeopardy if they didn't start to take that more seriously. Indiana doesn't care about winning, they care about money. They haven't figured out that a whole lot of the former is what led to the latter current situation they find themselves in. The people currently running it into the ground (if they are still around) are in for a rude awakening when the Boomers and Old Gen X alumni are truly replaced by Millenial and younger fans who have had a mediocre to sh*t product their entire lives. That is when all the money dries up. When all those older casual fans who maybe never even had a tie to IU are gone.
  19. We had a $5.3 million surplus. That is all that matters. They are going to keep rolling these BS results out until the money starts to dry up.
  20. Oh I know, but we hired him at 62. They didn't sell this as a guy that 4 years later at age 66 would still be "learning" that guards and shooting 3's and rebounding and recruiting and...on and on is important. You don't hire a guy his age to learn on the job. You hire them to win now. There were several people pointing out the red flag of hiring Matta to hold his hand but I think some felt, "Well, this looks really risky but at least we have that steady hand back there to advise..." Hearsay is Woodson never listened and the advisors left or were fired. I knew a long time ago that he wasn't going anywhere next year and I think that is a bigger gamble than getting a new guy. I wish I had the FU money of the guys that they go through for bailouts for all their poor mistakes because if I were them the next buyout would come with all sorts of strings. The same dipshits would not be given another chance to screw this up if this gamble doesn't pay off. I can't believe that these people who had to have some form of intelligence to earn and maintain their wealth have allowed themselves to be hoodwinked by these doofuses so often in the past 10 to 15 years. Must be nice to have the money to literally light on fire. A million dollar cash bonfire in front of Assembly Hall is basically what IU does with its donor's money every 5 years.
  21. It is over. The only reason to play in the NIT is to get guys minutes for next year and hope to build off that. We are talking about running off over half the team so any development in the NIT isn't going to be realized by this program. We also see how those NIT appearances turn out for us, nobody wants to play in it and it shows. Additionally, the last NIT "bracket" I saw had us outside looking in. 3 and 4 is not likely to get us in and finding 4+ wins in the next 7 doesn't appear at all likely to me.
  22. Yeah, but you don't hire a 62 year old professional coach to "learn". You hire Dusty May and Archie Miller to do that.
  23. You have the Haralson kid out there too. We have a habit of hanging on to guys too long and having that be a boon for our rivals. Keeping Davis around too long lost us Oden and Conley and almost cost Eric Gordon as well. The Sampson mess had us miss out on Tyler Zeller and several of the guys who became "baby Boilers". Woodson is going to have to hit at least 3 Grand Slams in the portal this spring to have a chance to be here for year 5 IMO and he won't have any luxury of a slow start. Things get "toxic" around the program because we always extend things a year (or more) past their expiration date. After being force fed cottage cheese spoiled milk several times, you become less interested in hearing that you can still sniff the milk after the expiration date and it may be OK. That is of course possible but when they force feed it to you again they better be darn sure they are right because after a certain point the pitchforks are out.
  24. The Q1 losses weren't the problem. The problem was we were in effect squeaking by the cupcakes. You have to blow them out. That is the difference between us and the teams above us. With how poorly we were playing to start the year, you would just be replacing 20 point losses to UConn with 10 point losses to a Q2 team. That does nothing to move the needle. Our problem is that it is a poorly constructed roster, being poorly coached, in a system that is poorly designed for today's college basketball. And you keep bringing up that you need seniors to win when we have a habit of running off kids after two years when they don't develop quick enough. How many people are ready to throw Banks, Gunn, and Cupps in the trash already? And this really gets to my point with opinions like yours to keep Woodson next year. It is year 4 and you are talking about overhauling the entire team. And then at this point next year in the highly likely event that we are a bubble team at best, you can roll out your charts and say, "See, we just need to get older." Well the whole recruitment plan has been specifically designed to not do that. You do that by recruiting and developing Freshamn to Seniors. We have 1 ******* freshman currently signed. Anyone we add (outside of another center who is a younger clone of another guy on the team) at this point is going to be a last minute scramble to try and get a freshman that didn't originally pick us. Guys like Mgbako who are clearly eyeing not ever being a senior. You implement the build from day one with a 62 year old coach. He doesn't have time to dick around. Yet here we will be in Year 4 basically saying, "Nevermind those first 3 years, I finally got it figured out now..." Now? You have if figured out now Mr. 66 year old NBA expert who ignored or ran off all the college experience I put with you so you didn't have to learn these lessons in this manner because your age doesn't allow for that? Awesome. Glad you finally know what to do. That stupid bull **** is why this fan base is so perpetually irritated. You constantly have a program that pisses down your back and tells you it is raining. I hope to God Woodson gets it figured out because we are in real danger of having our main rival coming in as reigning national Champs next year while we are in the midst of our 4th rebuild since 2008 with a coach who is on his second complete rebuild in 4 years.
