That would be over the top. I am ready to go in a different direction but being dicks about it isn't the route to go. IMO, if you aren't happy, just don't show up. That speaks louder than booing your own team or the coach.

And they are likely to lose said job after a year. Woodson isn't long term no matter what happens.

I am not disputing your last statement with the one I am about to ask...but if he is going to be back, why the f--- wasn't his staff out recruiting the 2025 kids last night? That is my irritation with Woodson, he "really really" wants the job but he is unwilling to go out and perform the tasks necessary to be successful at it. Indiana as a program has an uneanred sense of arrogance around it right now and Mike Woodson is the poster boy for that. We have sucked too long and he has been too mediocre to bad since arriving to be arrogantly half assing things.

It is just whining about controlling the narrative. That is what it all boils down to. The University messed up (again) and each subsequent time they do that it becomes harder for them to control the narrative. It has happened so frequently around here recently that everyone knows what it looks like when a coach's job is basically dead man walking. All of these sites giving publicity and drumming up fan support are awesome to Indiana when things are going well. The complaints only come out when the school wants to push a narrative and they aren't falling in line. If we win tonight there will be a massive push to say that Woodson hasn't lost the team and deserves another chance. It is clear that a pretty strong contingent in the admin and their big backer(s) don't want to eat another contract and throw Woodson under the bus. So everybody but him is going to get the blame. Players, bloggers, fans...you name it. Everyone is to blame but the guy at the top.

Me too. I also wish that since Woodson fired him and Matta left that Woodson would have gotten an assistant with some real experience to replace him/them. It would have helped to have more than 2 pretty poor recruiters and a brand new promoted assistant on staff to help the 2nd year college coach....

That isn't bad for IPFW considering they had just gone D1. It doesn't necessarily have to be Fife but they needed an actual D1 college assistant in the program. Not a recruiter, a coach. Woodson would also have to be open to listening to that person or people about changing up his approach to fit the college game. Given his media availabilities lately, I don't think he is going to be willing to listen. Even with people feeding him lines about taking responsibility for the year, he still let's his true feelings out. Woodson jettisoned his best college experienced staff and it has shown. Fife's approach to NIL should probably be somewhat incorporated into the program as well. The mercenary approach isn't working. You need kids who like the idea of whatever is going on at Indiana with the NIL being a really nice addition. I don't think we are getting the culture this fanbase wants (and that leads to winning) with the current approach.

There is nothing else to talk about this year. The macro issues are all that matters. We could win every single regular season game left and maybe make the NIT but, 1. Who cares and 2. That appears to be extremely unlikely anyway. I have the suspicion we are getting Woodson again and if/when it gets ugly next year the fans are going to catch the blame. "Just too much negativity around the program..." They have turned this program into a .500ish Big Ten team. Eventually the fanbase is going to catch on and the support is going to start to equal what that means for all the other programs that occupy that same territory.

We have reached the, "This is the fans fault, you are toxic and nobody is going to want this job" phase of the process. Elston and Watford are on Twitter this morning basically making that argument. "You all ran off Crean and now look..." As a fan, I kind of get tired of getting told how awesome I am when they want my time and money and then getting told to sit down, shut up, and do what I am told when I express displeasure with how they use it. They can bring Woodson back and the deal I will make with them is that I will be completely quiet about the deal and give him a chance to sink or swim. That means no donations, no eyes on the product, and no purchasing of merchandise until they show they are worth supporting. I doubt I would be the only one. They don't like anger? Fine, have apathy.

I think the issue lies with the communicator. Again, there is no such thing as zero (aka: can't take ANY) risk. Mean what you say and say what you mean. ETA: And I know your point is that May is too risky and that if we don't get 1 of the other 2 we may as well stick with Woodson. I disagree. There are times that sticking with a bad known is worse than a (varying levels of risk) unknown. Keeping Woodson around leads to the type of toxic environment that gets your program shown in a bad light all because of a lack of vision and fortitude to do the hard thing.

There is no such thing as no risk. No matter who walks in that door, there are going to be varying levels of risk and reward.

Your commitment to going down with the ship is commendable captain. I will remember your bravery (obstinance?) from the rescue ship. And if that rescue boat proves to be rickety, well, I guess we deal with that as it comes. What I do know is that you are on the Titanic playing the violin.

What a nightmare. 10 year old video and the same old crap we are seeing now. This isn't getting changed.

I would be fine with Walsh, Calbert, and Jordy. I am indifferent about the strength coach. Walsh appears to be the main guy out recruiting and he could point to results. He is probably one guy that could help keeps doors open for recruits in a switchover. I don't feel Hulls is as involved in team play so no problem with keeping him. Calbert, even in his NBA days, was seen as a bit of a mentor to younger players. Put him with the right head guy and I think he would be good to keep around. Everyone else? Meh.

What about a blast from the past and bring Buckley to the staff as the shot doctor?

At home. To Nebraska. 0-7 on the road, Nebraska. I am in the acceptance stage. I will probably still complain on forums like this but I have lost most of my faith in the idea that the stewards of Indiana University have the slightest clue as to what they are doing. We will keep Woodson, we will have to go to the portal to add 6 or 7 guys (which hasn't worked for the majority of programs who did that for this year), that will lead to the excuse that we have a bunch of new faces in the system "learning" when we lose early at like Battle of Atlantis (or whatever that event is called), and eventually a year from now we will be on the bubble at best and still hearing about humps and how we brought in all these new guys and it takes some time to learn and on and on. We have been through this enough lately to know A)when a coaching staff is done and B)that IU always waits at least one more year after that is clear so that the impact of that is always most severe (loss of fan goodwill and everything that looks like). So just buckle up and watch the sh** show play out yet again.

We were 8-6 with X. I doubt it would be much different.
