Whew, getting 54% of the team out of the portal is much more doable than 62%. I was worried there for a minute. -

Yeah, I know. If they want to blow their money who are we to question. I guess I am glad that someone is willing to do it because it is about the only way we are going to stay competitive, but damn if it isn't about the stupidest system out there. I get real NIL where you pay a dude to promote your product or whatever but stuff like Hoosier Connect...no way. -

It matters to professional sport discussions. The money always comes up around trade deadline time, draft time, etc. Basically whenever teams are looking for a deal or to dump "bad" contracts. College ball is going that way. -

Which is why if you read my post you would see that I said I would never donate to NIL and included saying it was a rip off to me personally. If other people want to throw their money away, whatever. However, I find it pretty stupid to be kicking more cash to basically university employees at this point when the company that "hires" the "employees" rakes in millions of dollars each year in selling their product already. To me it is the same as that stupid @$$ "tip" that has shown up on so many counter service restaurants these days. The initial purchase of the food was supposed to cover you making it and handing it to me after I go fill my own drink.... I suppose you could look at NIL as a tip, but I sure as **** would not consider anything out of this program tip worthy in a long time. -

I don't give anything to the school anymore nor will I ever donate to an NIL. You haven't even really seen me complaining about what the kids are pulling in (I think it is flipping stupid but whatever, not my money...) I was just saying that when you start getting paid for that kind of stuff and the funding is coming from the fans, criticism related to dollars is going to start up. I think that is exacerbated even more when you start to get chippy with the fanbase like has happened here as well. NIL is a rip off to me personally. It isn't worth it. -

It is when you are the ones somewhat involved in filling the pockets. If I know Company A charges a premium for a poor product so that they can overpay their staff, that will eventually send me to another company.... Part of the talk for pro teams every year comes down to salary. Semi-pro athletes in college are going to have to get used to fans pocket watching them like any other professional player would. If they feel you are overpaid for your results, it is going to be a topic of discussion. -

It doesn't matter to us, it matters to kids looking to cash in to have the second largest fanbase on Twitter following them around for a few years. It helps inflate their followers which can make them $$$. -

There is nothing to report. We are getting Woody-ball for another year. So delay any thoughts of this program being anywhere near where you all would like it to be for another 3 to 4 years (at least). -

Even the cupcakes are dangerous if he doesn't blow them out. Some people realized what all the close games meant early this year. Everyone will know next year. -

That wasn't the part of that tweet I was highlighting. He is an old man with sports related stuff that makes his gaut look older. I could not care less about that. He quit last night though. He quit in the last game, they are (thankfully for fans) quitting on the NIT, and in his press conference he was doubling down on needing to get more talent and explaining how his offense worked they just "missed shots". He is lucky he has a billionaire donor or two willing to figuratively light their money on fire for him. The fact the Simons are one of those families helps explain the Paxers relative futility over my lifetime as well. Thank God I am not an NBA fan as I would probably be stuck in that "just make the playoffs" average @$$ attitude they have. Which is basically what is going on at IU now too. Just making the tournament is considered a win now which is why we are missing it most years. There is no will or desire to push for greatness. Just win enough to keep the morons spending their money. The main ones being those who are about to get fleeced as they overspend to fill the roster for their "guy". -

I hope the school knows what they are signing up for next year. They already know they have a daunting task in the portal and that is just the first step that needs to go almost perfect this offseason to not have a total clusterf--- of a year next year. Bringing Woodson back is a stupid decision. The sad thing is that absolutely no one will be held accountable for it. On another note, this is what you get when your BOT is headed by a guy whose main claim to fame since leaving the school is "sports broadcaster". Nothing says I can run a multimillion dollar education conglomerate like that. Indiana is a f------ joke. -

We were one of the luckiest teams in the country and still lost 14 games, half of which were not close. Imagine what kind of disaster this year would have been had we not been so lucky. -

If we have players dumping recruits early on visits so they can go to the bar.... So the same thing is, whether Dakich has the scoop or not, all of this is either observable or believable. We don't have a serious program. We have a trust fund nepo-baby program that has just about squandered all the family wealth on hookers and blow while simultaneously selling how competently they are running the family business (into the ground). -
