  1. This is where I have him talk with our new, former NBA front office guy and have him give a no nonsense assessment of what he needs to do to get to the league. I would have that happen with every player at the beginning of each season.
  2. I think if you are choosing between Reibe and Tiller it is almost an offense or defense question. Tiller and Sherrell would be a pretty imposing front court from a defensive standpoint. I think they both have over 1 block per game averages. I think you have to go back to Jefferies and Newton to find a similar one-two defensive punch for us (unless I am missing a pair from the wasteland between here and there).
  3. For a program that used to (barely) run in the black without one, football getting good is a huge economic boon to the athletic department.
  4. I would get a combo guard, a wing, and 3 bigs. Hopefully Moody can give you some minutes as a back up guard.
  5. I think there are other guys they may have kept but they decided playing time or money wasn't here (like Dorn).
  6. We had a bunch of seniors and then guys who weren't likely to be ones that could get it done here.

  8. I'd like the Moody to get about 7 to 10 minutes a game if capable.
  9. Replacing 8 or 9 guys with $10-$14 million is going to be a tall hill to climb again this year. We are going to be in a spot where landing 1 or 2 highly thought of guys severely hampers your ability to pick up much of anything else.
  10. I think this is a problem that goes back to how Woodson and his buddies approached team building too. I think the staff is just going to have to bite the bullet, pray they get enough to slide by this year, and then take some time to build because they effed up their first year. We are basically back to year one because of the first year fumble. You cannot go into the portal every year announcing you have a fat wad of cash and have more than 5 positions to fill every year. You get used to increase contracts that other schools who are zeroing in on a couple guys are going to be able to outspend you for. The most disappointing thing about Indiana is that we spend an @$$ load of money to have all these brilliant minds involved in helping with the program but they keep shooting themselves in the foot.

  12. I'll never forgive Quinn Buckner.
  13. No way, Hurley is an *******, I hope they get curb stomped.
  14. Has there been a bigger fumble at this school? That whole 4 year Woodson debacle is going to piss me off for years. Particularly if May builds a dynasty in Ann Arbor. It is like the cherry on top of the sundae they started building with the way they handled the Knight firing. Every single decision made from that point through the Woodson term was just a huge comedy of errors. Like a textbook course on mismanagement and bureaucratic malfeasance. I wasn't born when Quin played and I was a toddler when Woodson played. They may be "greats" to the older old heads, but my view of them is two dudes who f***ed over Indiana University for their own personal enrichment.
  15. He had to go because he wasn't doing his job. It is water under the bridge at this point but Mike thought his job ran from November to mid April and he wasn't really keen on doing the thing over the summer you HAVE to do to be successful at this level. He tried to treat it like an NBA job where someone else acquires his talent and he coaches it. That isn't how college works, even in the NIL era. 50% of his job was related to relationship building and he was terrible at it. From messing up kids names to being the disinterested party when he was supposed to be shmoozing the kids. And I get it, at his age kissing 16-22 year old @$$ has to be pretty irritating, but that is what he signed up for. He was a Hoosier hero, people wanted him to do well.
  16. Maybe a comprehension problem on my end too.
  17. Yeah, to be clear, I am not frustrated money wise. I am just saying that no matter what, you have a set supply of NIL funds for any given year that you have to parse out. Indiana was going huge on basketball with Woodson, it didn't pay off. Cignetti comes along and wins a National Title. He is going to command more NIL at a traditional basketball school than you will see at those other institutions (like Kentucky, Duke, and Kansas) and that will mean that Indiana dumping supposedly $20 million into a basketball roster is not going to happen. The money will chase success right now.
  18. Aren't they likely quite a bit higher than everyone else though? They are us if Cignetti didn't come along. Duke and Kansas are basically in the same boat. Football is king at most schools, that would be true of Michigan as well. I really question the NIL numbers sometimes. There is a reason for those to be publically inflated on both sides.
  19. The problem is that IUs billionaires also have to support a National Title contending football program. Sometimes it comes down to where the greatest value is determined to be.
  20. That hire was awful. Just awful.
  21. I hope you turn out to be prescient but my faith has been slowly wrung out of me since the night Knight walked out of Assembly Hall and told us all to go home and give the cops a break. I am Doubting Thomas, show me the nail marks of consistent winning seasons and then maybe I will believe.
  22. Fair but I would love to be selling, "I went to the Sweet 16 in my first year" when I go to the portal as opposed to "Well, if you ignore what happened last year, this is my vision..." That doesn't mean the race is over by any means but it does get awfully tiring that we always need "X" years to get things done when all of these other programs in our orbit, many of whom we used to regularly dog walk, can get things going right away. It has gotten to the point where I f---ing hate the month of March. Just a long and sustained kick to the nuts every year.
  23. Gotcha, I totally missed him on the roster this year. So sounds like we need 7 guys. We are going to have to moneyball part of the roster then. I would hope we try and grab a few underclassmen who look like they could develop and we don't go all in with a bunch of juniors and seniors again.
  24. Lol, we had an international big on the team?
