(2025) QB - Julian Lewis to Colorado (for now)
go iu bb replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
If I was a great HS QB from Georgia and my choices were between IU and USC, I'd pick USC. I hope Lewis doesn't agree with me and ends up at IU, but if he goes to USC I can't blame him. I will say that since we're having this conversation, a lot of perception about IU has changed in a short amount of time. Just being named as having a legitimate chance to flip him from USC is huge. I hope CCC can capitalize on it. I think he can. -

Swimswam has the men's incoming class for this year ranked #2. It's not at all surprising that it's that high since they include the transfers. They were beat out for #1 by Texas, and it isn't surprising that they also have a strong class since they're now coached by Bowman. https://swimswam.com/ranking-the-2024-mens-recruiting-classes-1-4/ -

That writer used a lot of words to basically just list the schools recruiting him. -

I don't think that's a healthy attitude. I'm sure it's much healthier to be emotionally invested in the decisions of 17/18 year old kids and to hang on every word and action . -

I think IU could find someone to talk to him about the differences between IU and Oregon if it comes down to those two. I think that person would likely view IU more favorably than Oregon. -
Oh, he can still be an NFL QB. The point is the OL had nothing to do with that play.
-
Deion is blaming the OL for the loss. The line wasn't at fault for his son staring down the receiver on the the pick 6. I don't think he looked anywhere but at the receiver the whole play.

The idea is that it's a season ending injury, not just missing a bunch of time, I guess. So it's not "season ending" if he plays at the end of the season even though that injury could've happened a year earlier but too late in that season to get a redshirt. It's the NCAA being the NCAA -
He can certainly try but it's very unlikely he'll get it.

Let's make it happen, Ray Looze. -
I hope he's taken advantage of all his time in college with multiple degrees. I doubt he has a pro basketball future ahead of him at any level with his health history.
-
It's 2 months away so lots can change and on the road but that definitely seems like a winnable game for IU.

Braden Smith is the best player in the B1G without Edey? He's a good player but the best in the conference? Reality without Edey will be hard for Purdue and all the sports writers making picks as though Edey is still there.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

I guess when he got his raise he didn't get an extension. So this will be year 4 of 6 on his contract. With the way recruiting works, they'll be at the point where they need to either extend him or get rid of him. -

At least one writer at swimswam likes the men's chances to win a NC this season. https://swimswam.com/2024-25-ncaa-digest-a-season-opening-mailbag-who-will-win-mens-di-ncaas/ -
IU gets mentioned here but not seen as a leader. https://www.si.com/fannation/name-image-likeness/nil-news/coaches-reveal-top-nil-programs-in-college-basketball

Yep, HoF coach who is no longer producing HoF results, yet the "experts" seem to forget this every offseason. Couldn't happen to a sleazier guy.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

That laid back nature is probably at least part of the reason why each of his 3 teams so far have underperformed their talent level, in other words, were less than the sum of their parts. That will likely happen again this year. They'll be better (not hard) but not quite as good as they should be. This should be a very good team. Wait, I forgot that I'm converted now. Woodson is the best coach ever and this will be championship season #1 and Woodson will coach circles around those others you mentioned. -
Eliminating the spring transfer portal window for football is being considered. It's like the NCAA is now actively looking for ways to get sued. https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-ncaa-proposing-elimination-of-spring-football-transfer-portal-window-181254907.html https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/many-college-football-coaches-in-favor-of-ending-spring-transfer-portal-window-but-legal-challenges-loom/

Braylon Mullins (2025) SG - to UConn
go iu bb replied to Barrel Rick's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
It's always fun watching recruiting and seeing the swings in fan reactions. It seems there is always 1 or 2 recruitments like this every year: 1) Recruit (usually from IN) that is coveted and IU starts to recruit him. Everyone feels good. 2) Poster goes on message boards and claims to have inside info. Maybe they do, maybe they don't. Gives positive feedback on the recruitment. Everyone feels even better. 3) Later, poster claiming inside info says that it's pretty much a done deal, he's IU's to lose, he's given a silent verbal, or some variation of that. The board is ecstatic. 4) Time goes on without a commitment and he plans visits to other schools. Poster still posting he'll commit to IU messages. Board is happy but starting to feel a tiny bit antsy. 5) More time goes on without a commitment. Maybe he makes some visits. Inside info poster gives positive feedback but not quite as certain as before or goes silent. People start to really get antsy. 6) An article, crystal ball, or just comment from analyst that seems more favorable to another school than IU comes out. Anxiety is evident with some people saying he's gone other saying no way. 7) More time goes on without positive IU news, maybe something else positive for another school. The board blows up because all of a sudden IU is losing the recruit, has no chance, and people are ready to jump from a bridge since the sky is falling. Blame and excuses abound. 8) Happiness/sadness of the boards fluctuates as he continues to make visits without committing while articles, crystal balls guesses, analyst comments, and message board posts continue both in favor of IU and other schools. It seems we're at #6 with Mullins. Meanwhile, here's me the whole time knowing how up and down it'll be: -
lol. Miller was hired right after Crean who IU kept for 9 years. At that point, it was a combined 15 seasons between the two coaches after Knight who were fired for not winning. IU wasn't (and still isn't) firing coaches too quickly for not winning.
