They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
go iu bb replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yes, he has a massive ego but there is one thing that is being overlooked but you and others. The raise he got didn't include an extension. That means that after this year, he has 2 years left on his contract. In college, unlike the pros, that is extend or let go decision time. All Dolson has to do is to tell Woodson that he isn't getting an extension and push him into retirement. If he loves IU like he claims, that is the choice he'll make since his staying with short time on his contract will completely kill his already pathetic HS recruiting and would even hurt his portal recruitment for players with multiple years of eligibility left. -
Braylon Mullins (2025) SG - to UConn
go iu bb replied to Barrel Rick's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Right, because IU fans and media are always super focused on the 5* players we get. Like all the talk about Tucker. Oh, wait. -
Sure, if it was a compound fracture. That would be much more serious and would likely have ended his season.

Eh, nothing wrong with that. When a recruit chooses another school I lose interest immediately. I don't wish them ill, but I also don't wish them well. They just become unimportant to me. -
(2025) QB - Julian Lewis to Colorado (for now)
go iu bb replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
There's also Cherry. He was a 4* so he was thought to be pretty good too. Now the concern for Lewis might be that the coaching staff he commits to won't be here next year. A familiar concern for IU fans, but for the opposite reason as usual. -
That was more luck for IU than planning by the B1G. Michigan are the defending national champs and were highly ranked (top 10) before the season. Washington were the runners up and, while they weren't ranked, are usually a good team that could've ended up ranked, especially when gifted win by playing IU.
-
Washington will be yet another game against a team coming off its bye week. The B1G really tried to stick it to IU this year. Too bad for them the Hoosiers keep winning regardless. UCLA Northwestern Nebraska Washington That'll be 4 out of 5 B1G games against teams coming off their bye. Obviously, IU had a bye before Nebraska.

You must be new to following recruiting. Things change. It probably was leaning very hard towards IU when he said that. Don't forget these are teenagers who are trying to make a big decision so things can change, multiple times and quickly. I also don't know why you'd take anything on a message board about recruiting as gospel. Especially anything so far from an announcement. -
They thought it would be automatic wins for those teams. Now IU should beat Michigan and and probably give OSU problems. Oops

Also these two: Ranked and in the CFP discussion at one point during the season Bowl eligibility earned by November

Yes, absolutely heart breaking.

The women pick up a big recruit. Another distance swimmer, like the men. https://swimswam.com/indiana-adds-verbal-commitment-from-16-paige-downey-for-2026-27/ That article made me realize I had missed an even bigger commitment. https://swimswam.com/junior-pan-pacs-gold-medalist-kayla-han-sends-verbal-commitment-to-indiana-for-fall-2026/ -

Now it's whining instead of crying. Always shifting. That count was helped by your continuous posting of excuses. -

Crying? I'm certainly not crying and it doesn't look like anyone else is, either. Weak attempt. -

I wonder if that question really got him thinking about it. Still, kind of odd to do it now rather than the end of the season.

They haven't been said about him yet, no, but most of these are pretty standard excuses that always seem to come out after missing on a recruit. Just getting a head start on the excuse making. -

We just have too much talent that could return and that scared him off. We didn't really want him, the coaching staff must have backed off. He's not that good anyways, very overrated. He might be a good shooter, but how is his entry pass? Probably not up to snuff for IU. UConn obviously cheated. Paying players is allowed now but they must have cheated some other way. He didn't want to play in the B1G. -
Articles about Cignetti and IUI from the Washington Post and New York Times so he's being noticed for what he's done. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2024/10/16/curt-cignetti-indiana-football/ https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5848674/2024/10/17/curt-cignetti-indiana-hoosiers-nebraska/

I can't really blame him for thinking UConn would be better for himself than IU at this time. -
They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

With this roster that would be a bad year. We've been told all summer how great this roster is and how deep the team will be. -

I said a good year, not a great year. That is the somewhere in between. -

You very well could be right. After this season, he'll have 2 years left on his contract so it's extend or do not extend decision time. If Dolson was kept from firing Woodson as some have alleged (I'm not sure I believe that), I have a hard time believing that he could be forced to extend if he doesn't want to. A bad year gives another reason to fire. A good year can let Woodson retire feeling he did something, although they may have to strongly nudge or straight up push him to do that.
