I saw on twitter that Ristic has been sighted wearing the dreaded boot on his left foot.

Unless there has been a drastic change in the mindset of the university and athletic department, a work around isn't an option. We've seen that. It may or may not become an issue, hopefully it doesn't, but the staff seems to be targeting highly ranked recruits that not only will be demanding top dollars but will put IU in direct competition with schools he listed as being willing to spend more NIL. That doesn't give me warm fuzzies. We've already missed on one recruit to either KU or UL because of NIL. IU had a real chance to become a major player in college basketball when NIL was first introduced and IU was way up there in the amount they were willing to spend. Instead, we squandered those years with Woodson as the coach and now we're back to playing it safe.

Rabby said something concerning: "IU doesn't have big-time money right now." He says that IU is leaning more on revenue sharing and backing off of NIL. He quickly listed 6 schools (I bet you all can guess which 6) and indicated there are more who aren't doing that which will put IU at a recruiting disadvantage against them. He says IU now has a "good" amount of money to spend, not great. I guess part of the reason is concern over the clearinghouse but that is a poor excuse to intentionally put yourself at a disadvantage. NIL Go is already looking like the CF that everyone knew it would be with inconsistent approvals and rejections. It looks like they initially rejected a bunch of deals which are now being approved. Part of the reason is donors thinking rev share is larger than it is from the sound of it.

Beebe Jr out for season with knee injury
go iu bb replied to FortWayneHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Last season there weren't many injuries but there were still more than the one you listed, especially on the OL. Kidwell had a season (ended up being career) ending injury right before the season and Evans had a season ending injury. Luckily, IU is pretty deep at RB. The Bonds injury might hurt the team more than this one. -
(2026) - Anthony Thompson to O$U
go iu bb replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Over on peegs they've been saying for some time that it looks like it's between IU, Michigan, and OSU for Thompson. I would think that the Costello commitment takes UM out of the running. UNC has been trying hard so maybe they'll take Michigan's spot but it would be nice if it's now really between IU and OSU. Or maybe he sees himself more as a wing than a stretch 4 and UM is selling that to him. It would be great to land him, that's for sure. -

Indeed. One positive is that Costello turned down Painter and Purdue, though. -

Which staff? -
SEC schools trying figure out how to cheat by circumventing NIL Go (what a ridiculous name that is). Who could've guessed!? "Our visits are later, which is a good thing for us so we can see the market based on the visits they're already taking," one SEC assistant said. "The biggest unknown is what our budget's going to be. We know what our rev share number is potentially going to be. But are collectives going to come back in the fold and can we get that money back? NIL Go, will there be substantial deals? Will we be able to go around NIL Go? One of the biggest things teams are working on right now is how to circumvent NIL Go, figuring out areas that NIL Go can't touch." https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/college-basketball-commitments-plummet-amid-big-changes-in-recruiting-nobody-knows-what-to-do-right-now/

Foster will have ended up getting paid ~$10M for 1.25 seasons as a HC, including his ~$6.4M buyout. Being a failed head coach is lucrative. I'm willing to get paid millions to not win games. Where do I sign up?
-
Bummer. I was hoping he'd still be the coach when we play them in late October.
-
Not really. I just think their schedule for the rest of the season is a joke.
-
Currently at 0-2? Of course. I'm not talking about if the playoff was selected right now but when it's selected at the end of the season. They were also top 10 before this game where they lost by 1 point to a top 20 team. They'll drop a bit in the rankings but not too far. Win the next 10 games (very doable, their schedule is a joke) and they'll easily be in the top 12 at the end of the season. If they drop another one, they're out but I think they end up getting in. I'd love nothing more than to be wrong, though.

IU Mens/Womens Swimming and Diving
go iu bb replied to LIHoosier's topic in Other Indiana Hoosiers Athletics
Swimswam ranks the men's class at #2. Makes sense since there should be multiple NCAA scorers coming in. https://swimswam.com/ranking-the-2025-mens-ncaa-recruiting-classes-1-4/ -
Like when they lost to NIU last year? I know they're 0-2 now but I think they still will probably make the playoff simply because the rest of their games are very winnable. 10-2 will probably get them in since they're Notre Dame.

Nico's failed power move is looking worse and worse every week. By the end of it all, I wonder how many millions of dollars it will have cost him.
-
I thought it was being said that UCLA was going to be much better this season, I guess that was wrong. They're even worse than last season. I wish the game against them was sooner.
-
It's probably only a matter of time before the B1G finds itself in a situation similar to what the ACC had with Clemson and FSU demanding a larger share of the media revenue. Or maybe the next logical step in college football realignment with a new super conference. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/bigten/2025/09/11/ohio-state-buckeyes-big-ten-college-football-super-league/86039939007/ Edit: I see @Pagoda beat me to it.

Hoosier Hoops On Kirkwood - October 2nd
go iu bb replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Wait, wait, wait... you expect us to believe that Archie Miller has a personality!? I call BS. -
At least UCLA hired him on the cheap (5 years, $15M). IU paid Woodson like he was actually in demand which made it all the worse.

Rabjohns is saying that as far as he knows there will still be a scrimmage in Assembly Hall, just without all other HH stuff that has traditionally been a part of that. -
He sure is. I wouldn't be surprised if he went into politics after his football career is finished.

Has Bloomington North improved (or South regressed) enough since I went there 30 years ago to make it an actual game?

(2026) - Deron Rippey, Jr. to Duke
go iu bb replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Canceled his visits to IU and Kansas. I'm going to guess he'll end up at Duke.
