  1. Unless they changed the rule, they're allowed to play in 30% of the season and must happen in the first 1/2 of the season. So with a 30 game schedule, they can play 9 of the first 15 games before getting a season ending injury. But that may have changed.
  2. I believe it only counts as 1 game towards the schedule limit but there are multiple games played.
  3. Another silver for the divers. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/olympics/capobianco-hixon-add-u-s-divers-synchro-success-take-olympic-n1275248
  4. At the time it was announced there were some posts saying that the team they are playing has a stream that can be watched but nothing from IU's side.
  5. Jessica Parratto wins a silver medal. It's the US's first medal in that event.
  6. Apple and Pieroni win gold in the 4x100m free relay. Apple had a great anchor leg.
  7. Kaleb Banks has committed to IU.
  8. Maybe but Hill was hired (June 9) almost 3 weeks before that post (June 29). I don't recall the hiring as being secret.
  9. IU Divers: https://247sports.com/college/indiana/Article/Hoosier-Olympian-Preview-Andrew-Capobianco-Michael-Hixon-Diving-167930393/ https://247sports.com/college/indiana/Article/Indiana-diving-Hoosier-Olympian-Preview-Jessica-Parratto-167387777/
  10. Director of Basketball Administration https://iuhoosiers.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/coaches/armond-hill/3199
  11. I'm not very upset about not landing Washington. His ranking seems totally based on potential. He's been highly ranked for quite a while but in that time hasn't actually played all that much. 2 season ending injuries, 1 of which I think kept him out an entire season. Then COVID. Despite not playing much, he's maintained his high ranking even though when he does play he's not all-world. It must be based mostly on his potential.
  12. Most of the players' pages I actually looked at only had a few thousand followers. That's not going to earn them much money from companies which are actually interested in ROI. Those numbers will also be taken into account if the NCAA ever implements an approval process for deals as they wanted to I kind of doubt that happens but if it does it would be a huge red flag if a company is willing to pay big bucks to an athlete for social media advertising if that athlete didn't have many followers. So you're right, that would certainly help the athletes make money if someone did that.
  13. That's what I do. I made a Twitter account just for that purpose.
  14. This is funniest thing I've seen all day. Well done
  15. I don't know that talking to your teammates on twitter really counts as leadership. That said, other posters have said that he's been vocal in practice and is showing a lot of leadership there. Part of the problem the last few years was a lack of leadership, both on the coaching staff and on the team. So it had to come in from somewhere because it looked unlikely that any of the returning players would step into that role since the one who appeared to be the mostly likely player to step up, Franklin, transferred out.
  16. 1. Great news. I think will translate to faster play during games. It's not surprising Millers practices were slow. 4. Better coach/player relationships could certainly help both during games and for recruiting. 5. Sounds about right. 6. It's always a question how quickly a player will adapt to college play. He's been on campus for less than a month, though. 7. That's expected. 8. His PER at Pitt would've been borderline 1st team all-B1G. So he's a stud that will help. Can you elaborate on what you mean by staffing? Do you mean a potential addition to the staff?
  17. Ish. Home-ish. Still not Assembly Hall. The records don't count it as a home game and neither do I.
  18. Since this one is away again, I really hope IU gets 2 games in a row at home. Last year was away. IU in this challenge: Away: 10 games (11 counting next season) Home: 9 games Neutral: 1 game So that will be 12 games away from home vs only 9 home games. At least this seems to be one of the few times the team they're playing should be close. Syracuse was middle of the ACC last year which is a nice change from low placing IU being matched with one of the teams at or near the top of their league. I remember when this challenge was started it was supposed to be mostly even teams playing. Instead, it has turned into mostly best TV matchups and/or matchups to benefit the ACC which isn't surprising since this is an ESPN event.
  19. You can since I did. Just close that window telling you you need to register and you can still read it.
  20. What does that have to do with whether they're an employee or not? I go to a restaurant because of the food they serve, not because of the servers or any other specific employee. Servers come and go but I still go to eat the food. The servers are still employees.
  21. The Supreme Court doesn't agree with you. Their work brings income to the university. Sounds like an employee to me, too.
  22. I agree with that and have thought much the same myself. The ineptitude of the NCAA runs deep, not just in its policing of its own rules but also includes the making of those rules in the first place. They've dragged their feet for so long and it's going to bite them in the a$$.
  23. Hoosiers well represented on the Olympic team. Apple is also a part of the 4 x 200m (800m) Free Relay team. Ray Looze is also an assistant coach on the team. Drew Johansen is the head diving coach for the 3rd straight Olympics.
  24. Yeah, those 4 were the only ones to finish in the top 16 of their events. 13 total swimmers with IU connections swam yesterday. It's awesome that Matheny is in the finals. He's going to be a good one. Actually, I guess he already is. lol
