  1. I saw that, too, and said to myself WTF.
  2. I'm ready for a large turnover in the roster this off season. I hope Stewart and Kopp don't return. The coaching staff should look for transfers from successful/winning teams instead of the transfers we have now. Stewart - Pitt (8-24) and UT Martin (9-20) Johnson - Pitt (14-19, 16-17, 10-12) Durr - South Florida (24-14, 14-17, 9-13) Kopp - Northwestern (13-19, 8-23, 9-15) 1 winning season total between all the transfers. The returning IU players had all played on bad teams, obviously, with the 1 season they might have made the NCAAT if it hadn't been cancelled. I want some players that have seen winning at the college level and have at least some idea of what it takes.
  3. They find ways to lose. No one on this team really knows how to win.
  4. Just the warmup before winning 6 straight in the NCAAT.
  5. It seems like he's checked out for the season. I hope not but it seems that way to me. Maybe he just never really bought in or is having other issues. Getting in trouble multiple times during a season isn't good, especially when you're talking about an older player who should be mature enough to avoid those actions. At least earlier in the season he was hitting shots at a high percentage (when he would take them) but now he's stone cold. A player that doesn't look for his shot, doesn't hit when he actually takes one, and can't play defense shouldn't be starting. Especially when coupled with his other behavior which keeps getting him in trouble.
  6. So he may not be a day 1 contributor. Might see a lot of bench time until his D gets up to speed.
  7. You should try to win the pass lottery to home to The Wave. It's amazing. They've increased the number of passes per day given since I went so it might not be too bad now. Antelope Canyon is also worth a visit.
  8. That's a small mountain in north Phoenix (I'm pretty sure it's actually Glendale there) that's only a few miles from my house. Moved to AZ from IN ~13.5 years ago. It was a good time. My son had fun for most of it. We saw a few lizards which he was excited about. I was following the game when we took breaks. It looks like IU was able to keep it close for a half then fell apart in the second. Again.
  9. Didn't think we really had a chance at this game so I took my son hiking for the first time instead. It was a good decision.
  10. What's really disappointing to me about the suspensions is that 3 of them are 22 years or older. Two of those older players are also starters with one being a point guard. In other words, they're certainly old enough to be mature and know better. They're also supposed to be leaders, especially Johnson. Lander is young but is in his second season. Another point guard who makes bad decisions and fails to show leadership. If the freakin' players don't take the season seriously, why should the fans? They cost the team a winnable road game.
  11. I'm about to go for a walk. After reading this thread I guess I'll wear a hard helmet during it because there is a good chance the sky will fall on me.
  12. I'm wondering how they lost to this team.

  15. I guess the sky is falling again
  16. Indeed. The fan in me is disappointed but I not only can't blame them for looking out for their own well-being, I'm glad they are. That's more important than sports. Besides, college should be fun and enjoyable.
  17. That's about the only advantage they have. IU should win both meets easily.
  18. It's so awesome for him that it was against Purdue.
  19. Mental health is what I suspected and is the reason Backes cited as well. Even though I never swam at that level, I know how time consuming swimming can be. I imagine she also felt a lot of pressure, both internal and external, after having broken Kings HS records. It's disappointing to me as a fan but I fully support both of their decisions and hope they find what they need without the rigors and stress of high level swimming impeding them.
  20. Ouch. I hope them both the best in their academics and their lives https://swimswam.com/big-ten-champion-emily-weiss-indiana-announces-medical-retirement/ https://swimswam.com/five-time-all-american-zane-backes-ends-indiana-swimming-career-early/
  21. Did he really refer to Gunn as "Gunn, the 6-5 Indiana recruit" or is that something the author added? If he actually said that it's very weird.
  22. It's the 3rd option that I bolded. Last season's seniors who stayed with their team don't count against the 13 scholarship limit for this season only. Super seniors that transferred count against their new teams' scholarship limit. No players lost eligibility last season but they do this season. Whether or not the seniors of last season who can play because of that this season count against the scholarship limit applies to this season.
  23. Addressing the last sentence, everyone on the team has at least 1 more season of eligibility left after this season if they want to use it either at IU or elsewhere.
  24. This is the opposite of the trend we saw under Miller. With him the defense tended to have good numbers in the non-con and then take a nose dive in-conference. I don't think I ever saw his defense give up that few ppp, though. IIRC it was usually a bit under 1 ppp in the non-con then up to around 1.1 ppp during conference play. It's nice to actually see a team improve during the season. It's been a while.
  25. They were in slow motion for me. I watched on an Android phone.
