  1. That's because it's based on the premise that they're "student"-athletes. Therefore, transfers need to be done between academic semesters regardless of the sports season.
  2. If that's the case (which is not only completely believable but what I suspected) then good riddance. If they think they might get more offers, then don't rush the commitment and signing. Simple. Edit: Also, school's are now prohibited from contacting athletes after they sign their new not-NLI papers. What is the punishment for that happening? Will anything happen to Beebe's next school for contacting after that? (Doubtful) https://www.ncsasports.org/blog/ncaa-eliminates-nli Once a student-athlete signs a written offer of athletic aid, other schools are prohibited from communicating with that student-athlete.
  3. k, bye, we hardly knew ya. Always a Hoosier?
  4. A Mendoza/Hunter package would be nice. I'd take it. Let me dream.
  5. It'll be good to have him for the 10 times IU has to punt it next year.
  6. Mitch McCarthy, punter from UCF has committed to the Hoosiers. https://hoosierhuddle.com/hoosier-blog/iu-adds-to-portal-class-mitch-mccarthy-ucf-punter-commits-to-hoosiers/2024/12/15
  7. Yep. He was also given Fife and after firing him just promoted Walsh. He has shown just as much effort in selecting his assistant coaches as he's shown for all other aspects of the job.
  8. I agree on the depth piece. As does TDH .https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/niu-transfer-cb-amaryiun-knighten-commits-to-indiana/ https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/amariyun-knighten-1.html
  9. Must just do kickoffs. 0-1 FG, 0-0 XP. Has more tackles than points scored (1) in his career. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/brendan-franke-1.html
  10. I believe there were also people from his Atlanta days saying he was very stubborn so he refused to listen to ideas from assistant coaches and refused to make changes.
  11. That is a legitimate concern that I share. I'm not too concerned though, since some of the players IU is targeting in the portal are also getting recruited by other schools with good teams. If there is a time to really make a splash in portal recruiting, that time is now. Cignetti and his staff so far seem to have a good eye for talent. They also seem to have certain types they tend to target for the positions they're looking to fill. Remember, Cignetti was a main recruiter at Alabama so he knows what top talent looks like. So while I can understand that concern, I think it's too early to really worry.
  12. I don't believe you. 9-2=7, not the 8 you stated. Also, 9-2 is too low scoring to be believable. :)
  13. Woodson and co. recruited him so they recognize the talent. They just can't develop the talent or get all the talent to play well as a team.
  14. Zalan Sarknay wins gold in the 800m at the SC World Championship for Hungary. He was able to do it in front of a home crowd which is awesome for him.
  15. Ever? You must be new here. NGW comes to mind as someone even worse and there have been a few others.
  16. Rivals put their portal tracker behind a pay wall. Here is another from TDH: https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-football-transfer-portal-tracker-following-the-2024-regular-season/ This one mentions Duce Robinson, USC WR that I haven't seen on other lists: https://clutchpoints.com/indianafootball-news-5-top-targets-in-transfer-portal
  17. I thought he was better than Miller since he actually made the NCAA twice. Now I'm starting to change my mind that Woodson exceeds even that very, very low bar. Those two seasons were with Miller players, TJD in particular. Of course, the Woodson apologists say that TJD was out the door so Woodson gets credit keeping him. Miller brought him to IU and coached him for 2 years. He's a Miller player. Both are such bad coaches that it's really hard to tell now which is worse.
  18. Maybe Woodson's goal is to make everyone notice the other sports more. Other sports still going on which IU is good at: Football Women's basketball (not as good as the last few years but better than this **** show) Both swim teams
  19. I wanted Dolson fired last spring. Cignetti's success has changed my mind. For now.
  20. Just found the voting record. Yes, Tevin Coleman in 2014. https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/awards/heisman-2014.html
  21. Randle El? Have we had anyone since him?
  22. Because he is a bad coach who is also a bad evaluator of talent.
  23. IIRC that is where he almost went last time he entered the portal so I can't say I'm surprised. What's the scary situation? That he's going to Michigan or something else?
  24. I wonder what kind of bonus (if any) assistant coaches get for winning awards like this. Anyways, congratulations to him. Well deserved.
