You don't need to wait until then to cancel, at least if you did the year subscription. You can cancel now and will still have access for the next year. That's what I did.

(2024) PF - Derik Queen to Maryland

That's true but I think we'll see less of that with NIL if the reason they would choose to go pro despite likely being undrafted is financial. -

TJD was a 2nd rounder but he could have gone earlier. He and his agent purposefully tanked their position to get to GS's selection. But, yes, I agree that Reneau would likely go undrafted. -
I don't think he has the mentality it takes to become good at the college level or beyond.

MSU will really miss his 2 ppg

What am I missing? His really good DII record? He did get to 4 bowl games but lost 3 of those. Granted, this year will be 3 in a row but this resume doesn't really say he'd be a good hire for IU. A few outlier seasons like the losing seasons in the beginning and the current winning season but mostly around .500 at a MAC school doesn't inspire confidence that he'd be the same or better at IU. This would be such an IU move. He's 54-61 at Miami, with most years being around .500 so he hasn't exactly been killing it despite being 9-2 this year. If this is the route Dolson wants to go, it'd be better to just have another year of Allen to save money.

There are many aspects to coaching. Some Crean was good at, others he wasn't. He was good at individual player development. He also had some very efficient offenses. He isn't a good game coach. He also had problems maintaining a consistent level of competition. This was due to his inconsistent recruiting and taking too many chances on players he thought he could develop.

To add to this, the games on Peacock will be professionally produced. BTN+ are amateur student productions. BTN+ is a pure money grab and very overpriced for what you receive vs any other streaming service.

They tend to have a lot of continuity which helps then early in the season but didn't leave them much room for improvement during the season.

We've had good success so far of Montverde kids being ready for college. I hope that continues. -

The discussion about MM has me thinking that elite HS players who really want to be one-and-done should seriously consider spending at least a year at a basketball factory like Montverde. Gives them a chance to practice and play against better competition than normal high school teams, plus, if that place is good, they'll be taught the necessary skills to adjust more quickly to college. Both JHS and Reneau were more college ready than MM. I don't think MM is the next Lander. He has the skill but just has to learn the system and get comfortable with the speed of college. Of course, that isn't necessary for everyone. TJD was fine right off the bat although even he might have benefited from it, but no way to know. Just something I think they should really consider if they want to spend only 1 year in college. Bates did go to IMG so maybe I'm off here. It took him over until his 3rd year to become a decent player. -

His shot selection this year and last leaves a lot to be desired. His shooting percentage wouldn't be as bad or, if it was, wouldn't worry me so much if the shot selection wasn't terrible. This is something that can be taught but he's in his second year and hasn't seemed learn it yet. -
They need to do both. The facilities are sub-par and to get a (good) new coach they'll probably need to make a commitment to him that they'll be upgraded. They also need to pay the staff more. IU has been pretty stingy in that area and that really needs to change. IIRC, the athletic department had over $25M in profit last year, so they have the money now. When the new TV contract money starts, they'll have even more revenue to work with.

The soccer team won today so there's that.

Why would they think they were going to land? They couldn't even get him on campus for a visit. -

I guess IU is a swimming (and soccer) school: https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2023/11/18/mens-swimming-and-diving-no-6-indiana-men-win-no-9-women-finish-second-at-midseason-meet https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2023/11/17/mens-swimming-and-diving-no-6-9-indiana-wins-nine-events-in-second-night-of-midseason https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2023/11/17/mens-soccer-paegle-peplowski-impress-on-first-day-of-midseason -

Yes, that is a major concern but it goes beyond even that. He's also turning it over at a career high rate of 1.7 per game, his rebounding is down, and he's shooting less than 29% from 3. Johnson's D hasn't been great, his assists are at a career low 0f 2.3 per game (~1/2 of his full season career low from his freshman year), his steals per game are way down(1/4 of his career low rate), and his rebounding is down. A positive is that his turnovers are also way down. -

Both he and Galloway haven't been playing as well as I hoped nor as well as the team needs them to play. Both need to improve. -
That's when it's just fans saying he needs to be fired. This year people in the media are saying it too. Not firing Allen says, "we don't care about football." Not firing Allen and but also not making a statement says, "we really, really don't care about football. In fact, we couldn't care less. I'm not even going to bother with the effort to address the elephant in the room, that's how little I care." I'm not sure that's what he wants people to think
