Your Hoosier posting board history
HoosierHoopster replied to RaceToTheTop's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Was on the old scout board / HSN and it’s several iterations going back to around 2000 I think, got asked to mod there by Milehi (RIP) and Colonial Crester (RIP), did so for a few years, CC was really great behind the scenes, things kind of changed after they passed away, knew Stu, Jaybob and several of the crew here, good guys all around, finally made my way over here, enjoying it — and the no assholery comment above is right on. lol @Magnanimous, GoColts - there’s a name from the past. had multiple arguments with that guy so much wasted air. my favorite was his declaring that IU should have taken any Indiana HS player over Vic, because Vic wasn’t a basketball player, he was “just an athlete.” (At some point the little light went on for me to finally realize how silly it is to argue with people on a bball message board lol) I remember you now Race as Brumdog from back when. Didn’t know that was you, cool. -
General Coach Candidate News

I'm still pretty jaded by the Miller hire, that was the risk/reward the U took with him, up and comer, and it failed, badly. There are a number of really good, x's and o's up and comer coaches out there, but that kind of candidate has to be researched into the ground, system / offense and D / type of recruits (are they players who can't get into IU on academics etc.) / ability and energy of recruiting / ability to handle the spotlight that is IU basketball / history of winning / history of program building / etc. When you hire a guy like Buzz you pretty much know what you're getting. A number of risks are resolved at the outset. Does the U go for the "safer" pick, at least for the next 4-6 years, or does it swing on risk for the longer term, young and up and coming coach who can be that next guy, like it did for RMK? And as risks go for the flip side, of a proven coach with baggage, taking the risk on Sampson obviously backfired in a big way. Fantastic coach, wish it could've worked out, but he was wrong for the program coming off the NCAA investigation at OKla, and for how the NCAA was enforcing its silly phone call rules at the time. Whichever way we go, this time the U needs to do its legwork in a big way, two failed coaching hires in a row and we're reeling as a has been program. But we're not a has been that can't be a basketball powerhouse again soon, the right guy could be either an up and comer or a known commodity, but freaking get it right this time. -
^^ Have been saying Moren needs to build the team in recruiting to add athleticism and height/strength. We get beat up by teams that are bigger and more athletic, that's something of a theme. We're a heck of a skilled team and Moren's an outstanding coach, but yes, we're not versatile enough to outplay teams, at least consistently, that are bigger, stronger and more athletic. Still think this is a rebuilding year of sorts. Doesn't just have to be the HS recruits, build on the foreign player recruiting etc. for more size and athleticism.

I’m so snakebit and bludgeoned and clinging to my love of IU bball at this point I’d take Eeyore coaching us if it meant being a legit winning program again, lol -

The idea that a search committee and all the cost and legwork involved would be just “optics” is ridiculous to me. He almost certainly has his first choice ID’d and I would bet on his having started the back channel talks, but highly doubt anything is a done deal, that’s a big process with lots of moving parts including ongoing negotiations with the existing team(s) that want to keep the coach in question. -
They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
HoosierHoopster replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I’m just glad at this point people don’t have to root to lose with the continuing fear Woodson would somehow, despite the extreme disaster of this year 4, still be here next season. Always saw it as the likely “retirement” season that it is. I hope the players get some kind of saving grace as this train wreck careens towards the end of season. Anyone blaming the players for supposedly not trying or looking disinterested, while rightly railing on Woodson for his horrible “coaching” just imagine having to play for him, after the lifetime of effort put into your game to play at this level. Complete lack of offense outside the front court, complete mismanagement of player abilities and movement, total lack of ownership as the HC, total lack of in-game coaching/adjustments, repeated blaming and scapegoating the players and even the fans. Yes, Woodson is the worst coach IU has ever had, an embarrassment as a coach. Now imagine playing for him. I’ll keep rooting for the players, man I hope they’re able to salvage something out of this season -

But he’s not. He’s a Celtic and hasn’t coached a college game (or recruited) in 12 years. Imo, it’s just a re-hashed wishy hope for a long-gone coach that aint happening -

Looking forward to getting a better idea, if that’s possible (big if) of who’s really in play. Time to start really watching the possibly available mid-major and high major coach talk -

Prepare to be disappointed. Really think it'll be someone not even mentioned here (to date), would be thrilled to see Brad S but don't see that happening either. Rainbows and unicorns. -
Who will be HC at IU to start next season
HoosierHoopster replied to Scotty R's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I picked other. Not buying the desperation Brad S yet again (would love to be wrong) and think it’ll be someone no one is publicly talking about. -
I have absolutely no idea what to expect. And that seems to be the norm now for this team, for me. Fight PU tough, within scratching distance of a W on the road, but play without focus and heart in others. We never win at Wisconsin, and this is a Wisc team that shoots the three well and is solid all around, we'll lose, but by how much? No idea. Could be a hard fought loss, could be a complete blowout. Who knows with this CMW coached team. Such a waste of talent.

(2026) Zoe Jackson to INDIANA
HoosierHoopster replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
I like the national team experience, that she seems to have a quick release and looks for outlet passes, good positioning for layups and floor understanding -- but she looks like she will need to get a lot stronger, get in the weight room and running, get ready to bang and run in the B1G. Get her conditioning going over the summer, looking forward to seeing how she plays as an experienced foreign frosh coming in. Also, she has my daughter's name, so she rocks.
