(2025) - C Andrej Acimovic to INDIANA
HoosierHoopster replied to Hoosierfanyuh's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
From one of the links "Averaged 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in the U19 ABA League, the top league in the Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia region… during competition in the second Bosnian division, a senior level league, he posted 17.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game… shot 65.3% from the floor and 39.0% from the 3-point line… member of the U16 and U18 Bosnia and Herzegovina National Team….born on March 15, 2006." I know nothing about him either, but I like this writeup and at 6'11 with shooting? Yeah, sounds good to me. Que @Stuhoo with yeah but it was just the U19 ABA League somewhere in the Eastern Block, probably still at war, opponents were refugees! :) -
IUWBB - News and Notes
HoosierHoopster replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
I don't understand why, with Moren's and the IU Women's well established track record of success, we aren't getting top ranked recruits on par with other programs. Is it all about NIL? Anything else slowing the recruiting? We do now have a better recruiting assistant coach, maybe it's just a matter of time? -
Stu with his new ride!

Maybe sell your $1 Million coffee geek roaster/grinder/brewer drink station? :)

My rides Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 C63 AMG 507 Lifted Jeep Wrangler Sport Love them all but the C63 and Jeep are getting long in the tooth, need a newer 4-wheel drive utility for the ridiculous Houston typical tropical storms and hurricanes...

Reviews for road driving aren't great -- it has loose steering, so there's delay, is underpowered so accelerates slowly and top speed is something like 90, and apparently is 'clanky' -- but offroad capability is very good, Land Rover Defender - like, and it's such an attractive vehicle. Not sure yet on it, haven't test driven yet. Other downside, very limited stores/shops - so if you get one you'll likely have a long drive for regular service/repairs down the road.
-
Wonder if Rabby would call him developmental.... Kidding aside, that'd be a great addition.

Anyone got any insights on the INEOS Grenadier? My 2013 lifted Jeep is making repair visits regularly (along with my 2014 AMG c63 507), and looking to replace with a sport utility (not a general SUV). May go with another Jeep, but LOVE the old Land Rover Defender, and the Grenadier is loosely based on the Defender. Seems like it's not getting great reviews, but still looking into it....

Yeah agree. I am really interested to see if the "flaw" most in focus -- the lack of a rim-protecting big -- will be not as significant as perceived by many, as overcome by a running-shooting, and harassing-type D team that DeVries and current players have indicated we'll see. We have some very good players and players who are taking a step up to B1G-level play. We have some 'pesky' in-your-face type defenders. Don't know yet how it will all play out, but I am more in the confident-in-DeVries camp than the skeptics camp. End of summer is approaching, the Puerto Rico trip (Aug. 5) and fall are almost here -- can't wait to see how the new look Hoosiers, well, look.
-
Not that he needs a defender, but I think most here would agree he's not being "obtuse," he just sees the roster and its construction differently. Reasonable minds can disagree.

HC for U19 Gold, 3 prior golds as an assistant, 10 straight 20 win seasons, an EE and 2 SW 16s -- have said it before but we're very lucky to have Moren leading the Women, she's hands down a top flight, winning coach. Now if she can just keep growing the program with more size and athleticism we'll be back in deep tourney runs. Would love to see her push on to the next level, she's scratching at it.

^^ You guys do realize that Ware was was one of the top rooks in the League, all-rookie second team and got votes for rookie of the year, right? As a rook, he started 36 games, averaged 9 and 7 and 1.1 blocks, including 15 double doubles and 26 games with double digit scoring. Spo will call out professionalism and make sure guys are on board with his demands, but Ware is highly valued and for good reason.
-
Yeah yeah, but who was worse? :)
-
Largely how I see the two as well. CAM made the tourney but for Covid — pretty much everyone recognized we were in it. Would we have lost in the 1st round? Who knows. Woody rode TJD, he was completely incapable of adjusting his “system,” he did nothing to improve and instead brought in a top 10 NIL class and then bombed. I hated CAM’s system, but on coaching ability I tend to think Woodson was the worst coach I’ve ever watched in college. They were both terrible. How does one objectively compare terrible? I’m just glad they’re both gone and the U has finally hired a legit proven basketball mind. I don’t know if we’ll win now at the level we all want, but I’m confident we’ll be well coached, and the style of basketball will be fun to watch. It’s been a long time coming

And as should be obvious, spent it poorly. The focus of some of these posts on money is just off.

Interesting score discrepancy between this and Ristic's game against Israel... -

Like Demo said that's a great W. Imo, the important stats to highlight for Ristic are his assists and TO's (including assist to turnover ratio). He's not a shooter or much of a scorer. -
Yes agree, that’s why I said it fits the ncaa’s lack of consistency
-
Hard to make sense of NCAA decisions generally, this one fits the bill for NCAA lack of consistency. I wish Goode well, appreciated his play and effort while he was on the team. Thanks Luke for what you brought to our team. Now it's a full re-set on the team -- it's entirely DeVries' team, looking forward to seeing him build it forward, 2025-26 and beyond.

(2025) - G Aleksa Ristic to Indiana
HoosierHoopster replied to ap2345's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
That’s fair, but the idea that he’s a project and just a 12th player seems off. Hanner P was a project— athleticism without bball game skill or high level experience. This kid is playing in a pro league and appears to have good floor vision and skill (with a handle that needs improvement). That’s not a project and the problem I have is what sounds like a dismissive take on his game from Rab without actual knowledge of it. Haven’t been impressed with Rab for some time, fwiw. Demo’s assessment above was based on his game and well reasoned -

I know we heard Rabby’s exceptionally, surprisingly negative take on Ristic, but plus 14, multiple assists (7) to 2 TO’s in 27 min in these pro-level games to me says he has game.looking forward to seeing how he fits in, would think he sees floor time as backup pg.
