  1. Merry Christmas peeps
  2. That’s awesome- she’ll be full bore ready to go in the fall
  3. Good point and worth watching— but my issue with the selection committee almost every year is lack of consistency in whatever metrics they choose to emphasize. 1 year it’s SOS. Etc. etc. and that’s ignoring how they had UNC’s dufus pick UNC when the entire world had UNC out bc they sucked all season. So, will it be WAB this year, do they consistently use that?
  4. This is the spot on analysis of where we are right now, thanks. Notwithstanding the negative noise especially following the UK game, the team is in good position to win and move up starting with the B1G. Now we'll see how they play against conference talent at home and going forward.
  5. Geez my prediction was 83-61, 1 basket / free throw off. Now we have to listen to more of Josh, God help us all
  6. They haven’t played with good effort in the 2nd half in a few games, but we’ve also seen them come out of half time with good adjustments and play strong. Don’t see any real reason for concern at this point, it seems more like people look for reasons to be upset when we’re comfortably winning and shooting 38% from deep.
  7. Personally while the team is shorthanded, I like seeing the 2 frosh starting
  8. Damn, hope Socka gets back to practicing very soon
  9. His coaching, records and team building at Drake, his 1 year at WV turning it around from the prior season (and should have been in the tournament as most recognize), as a HC, his 17 seasons coaching tree exp as an assistant at Creighton, his recognition by most commentators that he’s one of the better coaches, and what I’ve seen of him this season including coming out of half time (not last couple games). 6 seasons at Drake he was .732 on W-L. I mean in fairness the competition for that comp at IU is Crean, Miller and Woodson, the latter 2 being flat out terrible and Crean being a good builder of the program back to respectable, largely on recruiting, but an average sideline coach. DeVries is a proven good basketball mind and program developer, I’m confident we have a guy who can get us back into competing in the top of the B1G, he has to prove it in the Portal era, so we’ll see, but it’s not an overnight thing starting from a complete blank slate as he did here
  10. I think people are burned and worn out, not surprisingly, after 8 years of Miller and Woodson, but there was plenty of fun, excitement and fandom when we were winning under Crean (which wasn’t consistent). Of course it’s been a decade. That’s the past and we’re a whopping 1/3 into the 1st season, whoopee. You’ve posted earlier you’re encouraged by what DeVries looks to be as a coach. He’s the best coach we’ve had since Sampson. Can’t help impatience but the whiplash turns on here to complain and ***** are just wasted air to me
  11. But it’s 1/3 into the first season, and he joined at a time when building a roster from complete scratch, zero returning players was an immediate uphill climb. I’m as anxious as anyone to see IU ball strong again, but it’s just the beginning, and this guy, unlike Woodson, can coach. It’s just reality that’s it’s going to take a bit — no, not 4 years or imo 3, but at least time to recruit and build a bit
  12. You guys with the apathy thing just crack me up. IU was the losingest team in college football. The worst. To say there was no excitement about IU football would be an understatement. 2 years later with real success there’s great excitement. There was excitement during the Crean years in bball when we were winning B1G championships and making SW 16 runs despite mediocre coaching. The attendance numbers for IU basketball even during the horrible Woodson years were top 10. Apathy? Here, sure, and students don’t care about the weak team we just played, but as IU ball gets its feet under itself going forward (it will, whether this season or next) the enthusiasm level will grow. You’d think you guys live in the age of immediate gratification and social media. Oh wait
  13. Could it be because we just had 2 terrible coaches in a row spanning 8 years?? DeVries tenure has just begun. He’s an excellent basketball mind. Why is it we can’t wait longer than 1/3 into his first season before asking sweeping rhetorical questions?
  14. It's a 'nothing' game but -- it's more game time for guys like Dorn to continue to get into full game speed and shape, and in a game without risk. Dorn played 22 min against UK and imo could be a key piece as we get into the real season. Losing 3 of our last 4, imo getting some wins under their belt even if against some lousy 300's level teams is fine. The team needs to get their offensive flow going again and work through playing time / minute distribution of some of the guys.
  15. Zero worries there, that aint happening- PU remains overrated
  16. The bigger the ego the harder they fall… :) Ahh from the guy who already finished dead last in one game, the fall is going to be epic!
  17. Cig brought a whole bunch of his players with him. DeVries brought Tucker. We just came off a complete shellacking of PSU. We lost at Rupp. It’s going to be an up and down season but the team’s net etc is in pretty good shape and we have a ton of conf games coming for DeVries to get the team into March. It’s not going to be an overnight thing and any fan expecting it to be was in la la land.
  18. Gotta come out of half time aggressive. Wilkerson can light it up, again. Dorn is playing solid ball, and Tucker just needs to settle down. A 7-point lead there is money, use it and spread the lead
