I am convinced just by his background that we definitely hired a guy who knows how to implement and run a college football program. That's enough for me to be legitimately optimistic. CTA had never really led a college football program until he was promoted. That inexperience was obvious. It's ironic that IU fans are critical of the new coach doing what most coaches would do if hired. You have to reevaluate everything when a team has won three conference games in three years. He wants to expedite the turnaround quicker than not, so it probably makes more sense to reset/reload with new guys than try to force square pegs into a round hole. And some of these guys that left or "decommitted" were probably gone no matter the coach, including CTA. That's to be expected when your best season in three years is 4-8.

This ^^^. Having played on a lot of teams over the years, the best teams were aligned by one goal. To be good. We didn't always like each other, but there was a mutual respect and aligned by that one goal. Some of the most talented guys I ever played with were not so great in leading a team or were ok with just being the best on the team regardless of the team's success. You need the right combination of grinders, leaders, and talent. And to be really good, they are one in the same.

This is not unique to Prime. I am not a huge fan of this, yet I am not trying to turn around a historical P5/Big Ten bottom feeder. As the saying goes "you can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs". I am sure CCC and his staff was given the green light to do this as a part of taking the job. He seems like the kinda coach who would be pretty transparent as to what it takes to turn around a team and program quickly.

Touché. I didn't think Sorsby or Lucas were coming back regardless of who the coach was. The guys I hope we can keep would be Howland, McCulley, Carter Smith, Shaw. Obviously if we could keep some of the OL, that would be helpful for continuity purposes. McCulley is most likely gone based on setting up a UK visit. I doubt few will come back based on CCC's personality and no nonsense approach.

All these guys transferring right as IU will be good again. Good luck!

Not sure how a transfer would impact a freshman though. He most likely wouldn't play for a couple years.

And this particular recruit's dad is already texting a positive story about Cignetti. I think we're in good hands here. -

He said in the BTN interview 70-80% of his staff is already in place. So that leads me to believe a lot of his coaches are coming, not just the ones mentioned. -

Just said "...we're going to thrive in the portal..." "70-80%" staff has been "hired" Will not being doing much in regards to JMU's bowl game. Said we'll be playing in the Big Ten Championship game next year. -

I agree with this. The name plate (I think that's what you call it) looked bad. -

THIS^^^ I was the one who posted about the recruit saying the practices under CTA were "a sh*show" and "middle school". CTA was a good guy but for IU to be a consistent winner and raise the floor, you need someone who's the CEO and can instill a real foundation for success. Just the fact that Cigs is talking about this specifically is a very good sign. -

I am a homer too. But we're "homers" for one of the worst programs in the history of college football. -

There could be a number of reasons too. I would assume some people have a price that has to be met to even consider the job. -
