IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates
Lebowski replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
I'm not 100% on the exact numbers but here's a break down of "foundational" (recruited by the current staff or signed letter of intent w/ IUFB out of hs) players vs "transfer" players. Number of starters and significant playing time Foundational: 20 Transfer: 9-12 -
IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates

While I fully understand your point, this isn't exactly true. Next year, we'll see if folks like Kyler Garcia, Matt Marek, Evan Parker, etc. etc. developed over the course of a year. Or will any of them transfer out? A good example is Mario Landino. He was recruited by the staff and didn't see a lot of playing time last year. They knew there was a hole there to fill and brought in folks like CJ West. This year they brought in Ratcliff and Wheeler to add depth and competition but the both Tyrique Tucker and Landino were recruited by the staff in HS and getting a ton of snaps on the field. Last year they basically plugged in holes that needed to be addressed. I'm assuming they'll do the same this year. Kind of like a 50-50 approach, if that makes sense. But Coach Cig has said on multiple occasions he'd prefer the development approach because he thinks that's the most sustainable way to build a program of a winning culture. He said he'd like to have at least 20 to 25 high school commits a year. And I tend to agree with him. Most winning programs just reload instead of going into the transfer portal. OSU 8 transfer commits, Georgia, Oregon, Miami all just 15 and under transfer commits. IU had 31 transfer commits last year and 23 the year prior. -
IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates

Yes, Alberto is currently a RS FR. Competition is a staple for this staff. The other staple is production over potential. @Stuhoo already mentioned the staff has seen him every day for the last two years (not to mention, recruited him out of HS). They have also seen Tyler Cherry and Jacob Bell every day. Today, every QB in that room has a leg up (more experience with the system) on any transfer that comes in. Spending big on a transfer will tell the guys in the QB room all they need to know. Regardless, we'll find out soon enough. Also we'll more than likely see a 5 star recruit commit to IUFB in the very near future. In other words, the last two years of bringing in a transfer were a necessity to fill a hole but building a foundation is preferred. Coach Cig has said this on multiple occasions. -

IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates
Lebowski replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
I don't know if there's a budget allocated to them but if there there is, I just don't think IUFB will be in search of a high dollar QB. I say this because there are much more positions to address in order to fit the needs of the team. -
@Stuhoo can we move this pish out of the football section please. Thanks.

IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates
Lebowski replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Yeah, I will be surprised if they go after a QB like they did the last two years. I could be wrong of course. But overall, I think they got their guys and feel comfortable with what they have. Or at least that's what I want to believe. If Mr. Heismandoza enters the draft, which all signs are pointing in that direction, his brother will likely be the starter next season. If it doesn't work out for Alberto then the next man up. Another scenario is Fernando stays another year but highly unlikely. And again, as always, I could be wrong. If they go after another QB it's to add some competition and experience, someone like who they currently have on the roster, Grant Wilson. Not sure if that makes sense. -

FINALLY!! This one's for AT and Mallory! Heisman is in the 812!

The pressbox is definitely coming down and rebuilt. Lol.

I don't think I said any such thing. My point was IUFB is number one over any other sport in the department. That was made clear with what they're paying the DC. And funds that were typically allocated to IUBB might not be there anymore. Especially if there's a chance to land a top recruit for the football program.
-
IUFB is indeed driving the bus. That was never the case, ever. It is now. Finally. It will be considered first and foremost before any other sport in the department. And doing so will pay dividends for every single sport, especially the basketball program. If you live in the 812, every store that has any sort of sports apparel is currently stacked with IUFB. More than I have ever seen in my lifetime. I used to see a lot back in the late 80s/early 90s, but nothing like this.
-
Thank you kindly for making this statement.
-
Y'all, IUFB is by far the better product garnering the national spotlight (an exponentially larger light than the sport of basketball) and the top brass fully understand this. Finally. Hop on and enjoy this ride. Personally, I am looking forward to Memorial Stadium improvements and top recruits in the sport taking the time to see what 812 has to offer them.

I can officially say the top brass has finally taken the keys away from IUBB and handed them over to IUFB. Buckle up folks and enjoy the sights and scenery of this beautiful ride.

IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates

I have zero clue on what positions the staff is going to target but I'd like to see IUFB pursue some more depth at the thin spots. With that said, where do you think are the thin spots? Also, for me at least, it's really hard to keep up on this stuff when there's so much going on with the current team. -
Here's BIP's website. https://www.bipslist.com/ In this interview they talked about Daley's absence and BIP mentioned IUFB's DL is stacked. TEAM game.
