"Production of potential." -Coach Curt Cignetti on recruiting.
-
It didn't need fixing unless you think Duke had a better season than JMU and Miami shouldn't have gotten in this year.
-
For context about the rating system for college football, IUFB's starting LG Drew Evans, was a zero star walk-on at Wisconsin. Every college in the country has a Drew Evans on their team. There's an award called the Burlsworth Trophy given annually to the most outstanding FBS player who began their career without a scholarship. The rating system is to be taken with a grain of salt. There are metrics that indict a high school kid is going to be good at the next level thus the rating system but overall, a coach that is in the trenches on the daily are johnny on it when it comes to this stuff. Some coaches are better than others. Some coaches don't have the resources to land the kid they want as well. Before Coach Cig, IUFB was in the 'lack of resources' category. And sometimes there's a Drew Evans that walks in the door.

Next year's system most likely only allows one G6 opponent to where more than one team could technically be more qualified to have a chance to play in the playoff. For example, Duke replaces JMU this year had the rule change been in place. I can confidently say JMU was more qualified and much more deserving to play over Duke. The JMU fanbase basically gets the middle finger with this change and that's exactly how I would view it if I were a JMU fan.

Ok, so I finally got around to understanding next year's CFB Playoff. Had the rules been set for the 2025 season, Miami and JMU don't make the CFP. Duke, Notre Dame and Tulane get in. Let that sink in folks. ND gets an automatic qualification if they finish in the top 12 of the CFP rankings. Both the B1G and SEC are making it worse in my opinion. They basically gave the middle finger to the G6 and its entire fanbase. This isn't good for the sport. Period. The SEC doesn't want to move to a 24 team playoff system and the Big Ten doesn't want to commit to a 16 team system without a guarantee to move to a 24 team system. Had this year been a 16 team system, the SEC would have had 7 teams in the playoffs. 7 teams. No wonder they don't want a 24 team system. For the good of the sport let's just adopt the 24 team FCS system and be done with it.

I take these rankings with a grain of salt so keep that in mind. But, he is considered one of the top 20 OT in the country and most importantly, he'll add depth to a position that is extremely hard to backfill. You can never have enough down hogs. And now that there's a transfer portal if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. Most importantly, if the young man wants to battle for the 812, he's got my full backing!!

IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates

Yeah, I'm really happy for both of them (Waffle House and Coop). If they get into the right fit both of them can have some solid NFL careers. Coop is so good at YAC, and that's a really important stat for those that play on Sundays. -
It's a bit. He's doing it on purpose. He's giving that team its much recognized flowers it deserves. Because, man, that group got snubbed for what it did. The Natty doesn't happen without that group, in my opinion.

IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates

You're not the only one thinking about this because I am too. I will not be the least bit surprised if Smith is calling the huddle this fall. Now that I've been able to come down a little from this euphoric cloud nine ride of our beloved 16-0 National Champion IUFB Hoosiers, I do have a concern with our OL depth. We added depth in similar fashion last year at this time as well. There's definitely a plan bringing in Brunner. And honestly, I'd prefer we bring in at least one more OL, but that's just my worry whiskers in me. This conversation is so much more fun knowing IUFB finally has a coaching staff. -

While I understand your point, 39 million is indeed candy compared to 6 billion. I always have to remind myself (because I've become somewhat desensitized to the word) just how much a billion is yet alone 6, which is what the internets say Mark Cuban's net worth is as of 2026. Who knows what his net worth really is but he's definitely worth billions, with an s. And being the business man the yinzer is you know if he were to fork over something like this for one player he ain't doing it alone. I can only imagine what type of "zoom call" that would be with folks like Todd Wagner and Carl Cook on the call. LOL! Also, 16-0 -

Good teams bang! ;-) Honestly, it probably has a lot to do with the helmet. I've noticed decals are coming off more often at every level.

Every FBS school has an average of 5-6 equipment managers on staff. Some schools might have less, some schools might have more. It depends on the budget of said school. When I played back in my salad days, the equipment manager was my "best friend"! LOL! My "best buddy", was responsible for all of my equipment and yes, even "re-striped" my helmet when needed.

Who knows. If I had to guess I'd say it's a money thing? I say that because the FCS did 11 game seasons but they are now doing 12 game seasons. Maybe they're worried they might lose a home game against Mercer?
-
I haven't read a single thing behind the decision but I'm guessing the SEC chickened out with the Big Ten's wishes to make it a 24 team playoff similar to the FCS's system. I've been a pretty big advocate to just adopt it and be done with it. Frankly, I don't understand why the SEC is apprehensive. The more the teams in a playoff the more it benefits the big dogs like them but whatever. We'll get there once folks realize that 16 isn't enough either.

Poop man, all SEC teams are too high. Bama is NOT a top 10 school and Ole Miss is maybe 7. JMU might be better than Bama! Every school in the top 20 not in the SEC has a solid argument that they are better than any SEC above them. Every single school. AP still doesn't get it. The SEC went 2-8 (not including intraconference games) in the post. 2 games. 2. -

Yes. But Grant Wilson is more than likely the backup, due to the experience. -

If I had to guess, he'll have to fit a certain mold to do that. But it certainly is a possibility. -

Best of luck to Coach D.O.! He's a National Champion that went 16-0. Accomplished in the 812. Bring the Doc and Ballou back baby!
