(2027) ATH Brady Scott to Indiana
Lebowski replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
He's heading to UofL this weekend. -
Did Kirby Smart's comments about the SEC leaving the NCAA/CFB Playoff and creating its own league (take his ball and go home) just sabotage his own program? I would think he just made it incredibly easy for other schools in recruiting. As a coach/recruiter it kind of sells itself, am I wrong? Just point out to the recruit that over the last three years the SEC hasn't been in the CFP final and the last SEC coach that won the CFP wants to create its own league because he doesn't like the current state of things. I think we just might be watching the SEC self implode.

He got asked about giving advice to kids playing the position of TE. He mentioned Riley's role (Drafted Rd5 - Steelers). Horton (Under contract with the Lions) had the same role. Horton did so many things on the field that no one talked about. I recall during the Maryland game focusing on him. He only had 1 catch for 18 yards that game but he did so many things to make that offense tick. Over the last two years, the TE has been the most important position for the offensive's success. This is the trend and I don't think that'll change in the foreseeable future.

Folks, this isn't anything new. Especially with top tier football schools. We're just experiencing it for the "first" time. But in reality, we have experienced this in the past, often. Our starting QB this coming season was a decommit in 2022! I wish this young man the best of luck and hope he ultimately plays ball in 812. -
ESPN has been negatively talking a lot about a 24-team CFP. I'm not buying what they're selling.

(2027) OT Mason McDermott to Indiana
Lebowski replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Still needs to sign, long way to go. But, Hoosier stays in the Hoosier state! It's our second Hoosier and OT to commit. IUFB is starting to get the in-state recruits, unlike the past where they'd typically look elsewhere to places like Notre Dame. -
I've waited my entire life for someone like Pam Whitten to force that paradigm shift in the athletic department. I still can't believe the top brass hired an established successful football coach with a resume to back it up. Cloud nine, man. Cloud nine.

High school recruiting is the foundation and bedrock for every successful program. Coach Cig has been on record saying he'd prefer to focus on high school recruiting and rely less on the portal. That's been the trend over the last three recruiting cycles. If Michigan offers you $25k a month and a full ride scholarship to play football are you still staying close to home? These are the type of decisions today's recruits have to make. -

Pate is so far up the SEC's ars. You'd be poop faced if you had to drink every time he references that poop conference. Brutal. -
(2022) QB Josh Hoover TCU - 2026 Transfer to IU
Lebowski replied to Dalton26's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Yeah, Mendoza was savant special with skills and so much fun to watch. Hopefully Hoover can take the reigns and be a general out there on the gridiron. 812FB is looking good for sure. -

I'm guessing more tuck and run instead of slinging into something not there. -
(2022) QB Josh Hoover TCU - 2026 Transfer to IU
Lebowski replied to Dalton26's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
And that might happen as well. Especially with a run game and front 5. For comparison, Mendoza had 4 total rushing TDs in 2 years at Cal. Hoover doesn't have the rushing juice like Mendoza though so who knows. But he did have 4 rushing TDs his sophomore year and 2 last year at TCU. Hopefully, he cleans up the picks and if that happens it might be an indirect transition into more rushing attempts. -
(2022) QB Josh Hoover TCU - 2026 Transfer to IU
Lebowski replied to Dalton26's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
It's not crazy to say, compared to both QBs prior to Hoover, at the exact same time, he's stepping into 812 better than both of them. Last year he ranked 2nd nationally in RPO behind... IUFB's QB. TCU's offense is almost near identical to IUFB's. He's got a quick release. He's TCU's best QB they've ever had in their entire history. We're going to see intermediate and deep balls like no other. Yes, even more than both Rourke and Mendoza. Stats two years prior to IUFB Rourke: 5464 Passing Yards, 36 TDs Mendoza: 4712 Passing Yards, 30 TDs Hoover: 7421 Passing Yards, 56 TDs Hoover is just 10 passes shy of beating both Rourke and Mendoza combined! Again, all of these comments are based on preseason Does this translate to a better QB than the last two years? No. Hoover has a lot of flaws that needs to be cleaned up. But man, hands down he's statistically the best and most experienced RPO QB the staff has ever had to work with during preseason. Exciting times for 812FB.
