Is this the article you’re talking about? Not a member so I couldn’t read it. The description sounds encouraging however. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

(2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy
Jeff_Boy_Ardee replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
To quote the great Ricky Bobby “if you’re not first you’re last”. Doesn’t bother me at all he said we finished third or wherever. He chose Vandy for reasons he thought was best for him, good for him. We didn’t get him now on to the next. Once Archie gets 1-2 of his classes here I️ think we’re going to start seeing quick improvements. Noting against Creans guys but they’ve had 3-4 years of bad non fundamental basketball pounded in to them. IUs outlook for the future is still very bright in my eyes. Well to me it does look like our freshman are picking up Archie’s concepts fairly well. This could be encouraging for potential recruits as once these seniors are gone it’ll pretty much be led by underclassmen. I️ think next year we will really see what the Archie system is all about. Still excited to watch the team progress as the year goes on. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Yes I️ know, I️ agree with you. My comment was more in response to Romeo is waiting for Garland and will commit shortly after Garland does. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

“Mom. Dad. I’ve mad my decision I️ know I️ want to go to IU.” “That’s great son, but let’s keep it secret all year to keep everyone guessing, won’t that be exciting” I️ disagree Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

He already knows Garland is committing somewhere Monday. Why would he continually say wait until spring if he’s so deadset on waiting for Garland. Why wouldn’t they just say we’re announcing this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Crean lost his three best players, no one on our team was hitting threes and we know they wouldn’t have played defense anyways. That’s a loss with him as well, let’s be serious. Edit: Sorry HoosierGuy that was not directed at you, in on your side here. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

It’s the first game of the year. Archie needs him to be a leader and he’s going to have bad games and have to learn how to play through them and find other ways to contribute. This is going to be a learning year. We lost our three best players, have a brand new offense, and a brand new defense. Both of which are completely new concepts to creans players imo. Perhaps leaving certain players in there to figure it out was coaching in itself. Now if this continues multiple games I️ can see your point, but give me a break. Obviously we played horrible and this was an embarrassing game, but we’re going to get better. Archie clearly took blame for a lot of things and pointed out areas that need to be worked on, not just stared blankly in to a camera and make excuses. Everyone needs to chill out and give things a couple games before they start the TV coaching antics. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

As entertaining as this has been, I️ think I’m satisfied with waiting until Wednesday for the announcement from the actual recruit. What’s gonna happen is gonna happen. There could be a million reasons why he is doing the announcement Wednesday or why he liked this pic and not that one or why he had bagels for breakfast and not cereal. Wednesday will be hear soon enough, hopefully it’s a good day for us, but until The announcement I’ll stay excited following Archie interviews about the team is coming along and the upcoming game. Yea I️ don’t get people freaking out about this. Making announcement at your school is very common practice. When I️ was in school they used to do it on our library and students could get passes from the player to allow them to go to the signing. This isn’t a big deal. Evans Daniels just posted a new article. Pretty much the same stuff, Garland saying he doesn’t know still so he’s not sure how other people are saying he’s going here or there. One thing did stand out to me however, towards the end of it there’s a quote from Darius saying something about Vanderbilt along the lines of “hopefully they get Shittu and they get Romeo” and how they could all play together. Then don’t take everything on a free public fan forum as gospel. Everyone on here spews their opinions, some positive, some negative, and people discuss. Obviously none of us are directly tied to any of these recruits and these recruits are not going to call us up and say hey Hoosier Guy I’m going to IU if you want to tell the BTB guys. Sometimes people have legit info on here and they make it known in their post that what they are posting may be legit or may be gossip. But I wouldn’t recommend taking anything on any kind public forum for 100% fact. Hoosier Guy is very optimistic and gives his personal reasons why, nothing wrong with that. Doubt this happens, but since Romeo is most likely one and done, someone could volunteer to give up a scholarship and then when he gets drafted they can receive it back. There’s been a few instances at some other programs recently where this has happened. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
I agree wit you, and to add to this, as much as Sampson hurt us, I feel it could have gotten worse had it not been taken care of at the time. For whatever reason I’ve always felt the NCAA has had it out for IU and would dish out undeserving penalties because it was IU. Don’t think that Sampson wasn’t doing other things other than just texting players, I.e Eric Gordon Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Corruption in College Basketball

I don't know if it will fix anything I'm not saying it will. But as much push there has been from that in the past I really think that this will tilt things in the players favor as far as getting paid, legally. I don't know how they would do it or if there is a correct way. Just saying imo I think in the next few years we will starting seeing "professional" college sports. This, I think, is what is finally going to push the ball over the top of the hill regarding paying college athletes, as in legally like a "salary" Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

I agree, I was one of the biggest fire Crean advocates due to his coaching. I'm simply suggesting that people are trying to give him some gratitude for keeping us clean, thus far, and that this can explain some misses on recruits. As much as I wanted Crean gone I'm not so naive as to think he was horrible for the program. He was the right guy at the time and did what he could to make is respectable again and his time came simply because his coaching ability reached its limit. Even if he pulled in some of those missed recruits I don't think he would have known what to do with them. Just trying to explain what I assume some posters are trying to say in regards to his recruiting and running a clean ship. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

I think they're point in regards to recruiting is that all this can help explain how he missed out on some recruits to those schools paying money. Did he lose some just because they didn't buy what he was selling sure, but I feel like it safe to say some of them were bought from him. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
