Archie Miller Press Tour 2017
Jeff_Boy_Ardee replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Call me crazy, but now that everything is over with and I've had a chance to step back and look at everything, I honestly think we got the BEST coach out there (minus only Stevens). Archie has 13 years on Billy, I think his age is really going to resonate with players for awhile and by the time he's Donovan's current age I really see the potential that he will have solidified himself as one of the Best coaches in the nation the players want to play for ala Coach K and Roy and Those guys presently. Archie just seems to get it. Every single person that knows him speaks of his basketball IQ. I am super excited for IU Basketball's future. I understand things are not going to be 100% perfect right from the get go, but I have a really good feeling about this and that's something I haven't been able to say maybe ever in my IU lifetime. "The ceiling is the roof" -
Another thing for me personally. I remember watching the game when they had "Courage" on the back and I just thought our jerseys looked ugly with a "name" on the back

Find it interesting he thought he deserved another "start over" . I give him all the credit for taking to IU back out of the trenches, he did a great job at restoring IU and yes he brought some very good success. But he reached his potential and needed to go. Where else do you get multiple start overs just because graduation.

I didn't say he should? I'm actually agreeing with the poster I quoted by accident. I don't get why people criticize IU for having expectations when all these other programs did the exact same thing. The ones always in the conversation just haven't had to make a change in awhile because they already made their changes and found their guy.

If Archie doesn't pan out and get IU in the tournament consistently than yes, I would say they fire him. Just like every other program that expects to be in the tourney does. Tubby won a title at UK - fired - worked out well for them, always in the conversation. UNC went through a couple coaches, worked out well for them. Bruce Weber went to a title game at Illinois - fired - John Groce didn't work out - fired. I don't understand why people criticize Indiana for having the same expectations every single big program has and for taking the same steps to reach those. No one is saying we expect Archie or whoever the coach is to actually win the title or else. We know that's not easy, but you can never win it when you're not consistently in the tournament and able to make runs. Seriously, why is this so difficult for people to get?

Who Wore it Best, IUBB Edition

Clearly you must mean Bracey Wright

I'm 28 and I am totally against the names. That's one of the things Indiana is known for, Indiana the team, no Indiana with All American so and so. I see it as this is your number now it's up to you to actually make it yours. 40 used to be known to most as Calbert. Now many people know it as Cody. You earn the right to have your name go with the number and I think it gives it meaning to live up to that number. Anybody can have a name printed on that jersey. I like how it allows other players represent that number and they're not retired. 11: Isiah, Fife, yogi. 40: Calbert, Cody. 2: AJ, Watford and so on. So many great players came through here and wore that number now it's your turn to live up to it.

Archie MIller Press Conference

It's hard to offer someone a job they do not want and are not interested. -
I get where you're coming from. Archie is not just any young up and comer though imo. He's a guy we would have been upset in a few years if we didn't get him. He's already proven a successful recruiter at big programs. He coached the team USA U19 team to a gold. Also I think it's worth noting this isn't the same situation like when Crean took over. It sounds like you expect us to suck for a few years like we did with Crean. Crean inherited a disaster. As much as we complained about Crean, the team he has left Archie still has a lot of talent on it, especially if we can get one or two guys to stay another year. I don't expect Archie to win the B1G in the next two years but I do expect us to be very competitive. I think we got the best coach possible. Outside of Donovan, The more I think about it I think we got one of the best available. I like him more than Bennett each day that goes by and the more I research him and watch his coaching videos and philosophies. I am super excited for what the future holds! HOO HOO HOO HOOSIERS!!!!

Hutch interview with Ted Kitchel
Jeff_Boy_Ardee replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I used to agree with you. I used to like Dakich, he was honest with his opinion and gave reasoning for it. However now he just says stuff to get clicks over anything else. He seems to constantly attack other athletes in sports he never played and acts like he's the greatest thing that sports broadcasting has ever seen and knows everything. I lose respect for him everytime I hear him talk. I do still enjoy his game calling as he has good insight as to what's going on many others don't have, but outside of his color commentating I don't care for him much at all anymore. -
Why is it okay for other programs to fire multiple coaches until they get the right guy and start winning but not Indiana?
-
Anyone else going to the pressers tomorrow? I think I've decided in going. More and more excited about this hire everyday
-
I like Fife but I don't see him coming. It doesn't make sense for him imo. He's the same age as miller so he is not going to be taking over for him at IU. He's already with a HOF who will be retiring at some point in the next 5 years or so maybe longer. Fife has a better chance at taking over MSU once Izzo leaves, maybe a Bo Ryan departure type scenario. Just doesn't make sense for him.

If you're gonna exclude Creans first few years shouldn't you exclude Archie's first two
