  Yeah but I would imagine they are expecting more out of Cline than we are expecting out of Gelon.  Gelon is a project in a 6 member class.  Nothing more who won't be expected to contribute till his junior year at the earliest.    I would also imagine they spent alot more time recruiting Cline than we did Gelon.  That time Crean saved on recruiting our 13th scholarship player was probably used focusing on Davis and Cujo the keys to the 2016 class.    Yeah we could have made Cline a priority and tried to snag him from Purdue, but what if that cost us somebody we needed more?

  I very seriously doubt IU could ever win a title with just homegrown kids.  And no I never said anything of the sort.  To recruit top 10 consistently you have to have a track record of success or cheat.  We don't have one and better not be doing the other.    We have to construct a team with the occasional 5 star, and then solid Sophomore and Junior 4 stars.  With the occasional specialist type player like Gelon to shore up particular weaknesses.  And this is how we have been attempting to construct our team as of late.  Its the right strategy just poorly implemented. 

  Very true, so this will be my only rebuttal.  I believe crean has had the players to have consistent success since his 4th year.  The problems are in his coaching and his chasing players away.  Our problems have not been his recruiting is what I am trying to say, we have had the horses just not the jockey.

  Yeah you think he was getting the cream of the crop every year right after he started.  No he had to build a respectable program with solid kids at first then once he had consistent success he was able to turn Duke into a powerhouse recruiter.    No matter who we get they aren't going to be nabbing 3 or 4 five star kids every year.  Whoever we get is going to have to be able to build a program.  As much as I don't like Crean I do feel he is trying to build a program the correct way for our team.    Now if we had won a National title either of Zellers years I would be singing a different tune. 

This program can't do that. We aren't Duke or Kentucky. We haven't been to s final four in over a decade and it's been almost 3 decades since we won. We literally haven't won jack these kids entire lives.

  Kegler would be huge I feel. Him in addition to Brown, Cujo, Davis would be a solid class.  With Xavier Simpson giving us a true PG or if Thon is an option go with him.  If we get Simpson a big has to be the priority for 2017

They are the key to having a complete team next year. Anybody else will just be gravy.

Exactly   The NCAA showed with Syracuse wins will be vacated back to your last title.  They are hoping to win the title this year and then not have any wins vacated.  This does make the fact we beat them in Soccer a few years ago that much more awesome. 

Sorry for the double post. But seriously why are people trying so hard to rag on this kid. Hating on the players we get needlessly sure isn't going to help recruiting.

He was a 3 star but they still didn't rank him.

Nick Z and Matt Roth were both unranked and they both contributed. And since this kid would serve a similar role him being productive in the future is very possible. it's really not something to dismiss.

5 stars are already good enough. But it's no basis in the player they will be in 3 years.

Perea was a 4 star. Oladipo was a 3 star. Rankings are a crapshoot.

Ok since that was too subtle a way to put it. Rankings are stupid they do determine how well a player will perform at the college level. For the most part it's their work ethic. How many former 4 and 5 stars did Oladipo get drafted before. If you count the ones that weren't good enough to get drafted. ALot.

Frank Kaminsky was an unranked kid who committed over a year before he played college ball. Not saying this kid will be like Kaminsky but jeez people stop writing him off.

Perhaps Crean sees something in the kid that makes him think he's underrrated. People put way too much stock in those ratings. We have 4 next year for sure we have an unused one this year. And we will have 2 more JBJ and Troy are leaving.

Cujo Brown Davis Are key. Favored in all luckily.

I assume this means we're no realistically even trying to get Gordon at this point even if we have an extra scholarship

Great to hear, lol nobody on 247 had them getting him.    Don't know much about their roster, but with their reduced scholarship can't imagine they are getting that many combo guards. 

Lol if I were him I'd go for a visit to like USC or Miami just for a vacation lol
