Hoosierfan2017 reacted to WayneFleekHoosier in IU Basketball News and Notes
Genuinely curious how the fanbase (not the BTB sunshine pumpers) responds to this years team. Feel like it could be slow out of the gate and if not winning could be a rough start to things. Hoping for the Cignetti, pack the stadium by winning approach is the way it goes. It kinda feels like a school transitioning away from basketball and pivoting towards football. The fanfare and online enthusiasm for this team is as low as I can remember since Crean’s start. Clearly this isn’t Crean level talent but in a todays version of college basketball arms race we are behind the 8 ball. I can’t fathom a school touting itself as a top 10 NIL program building such an unheralded roster. For the millionth time this off-season I hope DeVries is a basketball savant and sees things the entire basketball landscape doesn’t.

To be fair, that video very well could’ve been a best case practice scenario for last year’s team… but, that’s why literally every single person in today’s video is different.

Just my opinion but the #1 priority in the athletic dept right now should be getting Cig $8-10M more in NIL from where we are today. Not an easy task at all, but it would be worth it. I’m still hoping for a stadium/field sponsor, that should be a more appealing marketing opportunity now, or maybe getting another one of our mega donors more engaged.
CFB is king and CBB is awfully close to immaterial in the scheme of our athletic dept finances. Everything IU sports depends on football, including the precious basketball program. Not all, but some of our bball fans need to wake up to this economic reality in college sports.

Man give Coach Cig every penny of NIL that IU has. Dude is going crazy.

He definitely tore his Achilles. You could see it happen on the replay.
SGA was 8-27 from the field and still ended up with 29 points. Just a disgusting free throw merchant.

I know it sounds harsh but I agree, as Leal had his time here, he had his senior speech, and the team is entirely differently constructed now.

“Foster is the official who received 134 phone calls from disgraced referee Tim Donaghy between October 2006 and April 2007, as originally reported by FOX News. That was the same period during which Donaghy admitted to betting on NBA games. The report said that Donaghy called Foster more than any other ref and that he didn't call any other official more than 13 times.
Donaghy's calls to Foster took place immediately before and after games Donaghy was officiating 54 times.”

Like, cmon.. You don’t have to have a smoking gun to know things don’t add up. Donaghy wasn’t calling him immediately before and/or after games to wish him good look or tell him nice officiating.

Why does he always do Game 4? Because a series can only be 3-0 or 2-1 going into it, and his presences improves the likelihood of the series getting a fifth or sixth game.
Keep bending the knee.

So, you're saying that Scott Foster, who was close with and mentioned in the Tim Donaghy investigation, is one of the best referees on the planet?
The pushoff/creating separation and the blatant travel, are not "missed" at my grandsons biddy ball league. The league is a joke, and it has been for years.

The NBA desperately needs a new face of the league after LeBron/Curry retire. It won’t be SGA because an unethical hooper will never have mass appeal, but it’s easy to see why the NBA would favor OKC winning to try to push him into that spot.
We all just saw the NBA blatantly rig the draft, so influencing the Finals through officiating isn’t a stretch at all.
