  1. 20 shots and 35 minutes for Sparks is the best way for us to combat the small ball.
  2. It’s not the reason for IU’s failures, but the program’s culture is definitely outdated/stuffy. Needs a revamp big time.
  3. Idk, I look at someone like Porter Moser (who some folks wanted when we hired Woodson). He was more “proven” that May is at this point. His first two years at Oklahoma he went 19-16 (7-11) and 15-17 (5-13). He’s got things going well right now in year 3, but it took multiple years. I would expect similar things from Dusty May. Mgbako and Reneau (don’t think Ware will be back regardless) are really the only two players on our team worth keeping, and I would expect both to leave if May became the coach. Same with McNeely. None of them have Indiana connections and could go anywhere. Why would they stick around to play for a random coach they know nothing about?
  4. You’re one of the fans who doesn’t want to play in the gray area. If that’s what you want then you basically need an RMK-caliber coach to consistently win big. You’re not doing it with just an above average guy.
  5. The bolded isn’t true, but this is probably the level of analysis Dolson operates at.
  6. Ignoring your obvious attempts to inflame, if Dolson isn’t thinking about how to hire a coach who can win immediately then he might as well shut the program down.
  7. If you want to watch more rebuilding that’s your choice, but I’m ready for fun IU basketball again. We haven’t had a fun season since 2016. I want a coach who can win immediately.
  8. Texas poached a coach from an in-state conference rival.
  9. I’m very pessimistic when it comes to about everything, lol. I want to see IU move like the top dogs move. Poaching someone’s coach would be a clear signal that we’re ready to start doing so. Hiring May is a wait and see move. I’m too impatient at this point for that. May could succeed here, and he very well may be the best we can do. It just doesn’t fire me up.
  10. The mid-major flavor of the year doesn’t excite me. I want to poach a coach from another program. If IU can’t do that (and I don’t think they can), then we’re likely in for another multi-year slow burn rebuild. I’m not interested in that. I’ve been hearing “it’s only year X, wait till he gets his guys and system in place” for far too long. Get me a guy who can kick a** in year 1 and I’ll be excited.
  11. I would probably rather just have a fourth year of Woody than fire him and hire May after this season.
  12. I imagine my avatar being Woody’s reaction when he and Buckner finessed Dolson into giving Woody the job.
  13. Yeah, we killed it with Sparks on the floor, such as when the lead ballooned to 23 points while he was out there. Our center grabbed 2 rebounds in 29 minutes. IU can’t play big, IU can’t play small. IU can’t play at all.
  14. No, he played in 30 of 32 games including the conference tournament game.
  15. Giving him the raise was a stupid decision in a long line of stupid IU decisions. It’s not like we should’ve been worried about another program poaching him. He got blown out in the round of 64 and then got blown out in the round of 32 the following raise. That certainly didn’t warrant giving him a top-3 salary in the conference. In any event, no reason to compound that mistake by making another one and keeping him around.
  16. I have no expectation of them firing Woodson absent something extreme like literally not winning another game. I just think not firing him is wasting a season and putting off the inevitable. IU knew going into this that he wasn’t a long-term option. He turns 66 in two months. If he was 46 then sure, maybe give him more time to figure it out. Time isn’t something on Woodson’s side. Not all 60+ year olds are old. Coach Cig turns 63 this June and I don’t think there’s a person out there concerned about his energy/hunger. It’s dripping off him. Woodson, though? Well… If he was hired as a “bridge guy,” move on before he burns down the bridge. Another year like this one would do exactly that. Another year like this one and we’ll be in a much worse spot when it comes to hiring a new coach. He could land a good spring class/portal class, but I have serious doubts based off last spring.
  17. Was playing Payton Sparks 29 minutes against Wisconsin after he played a total of 11 minutes in IU’s prior 5 conference games a sign of Woodson’s willingness to change? Because that sure looked like a commitment to his same 20th century gameplan.
  18. All the more reason to move on from Woodson now instead of waiting. If it’s “going to take a special coach” then Woodson very clearly isn’t the guy for the job.
  19. There’s gotta be zero chance he utilizes analytics lol. I don’t think analytics tells him to shoot the fewest 3s in the conference and the 354th most in the NCAA. Reading the article the Wiki page cites to is hilarious. Basically everything he says in that article is the opposite of what we see on the court.
  20. The people expecting the new president to be a basketball savior are going to be disappointed. She’s an improvement in that she isn’t actively hostile to athletics like the last guy, but it sounds like she shares the squeaky clean IU mentality. Disappointing but what can ya do.
  21. That’s what the duffle’s for.
  22. Is Woodson really that lazy?
  23. No. Just seems to be part of the “blame the fans” schtick. Word is he asked for an outrageous increase in NIL funds. Now that he’s had some nice numbers for the last place Missouri Tigers the revisionist history is taking hold.
  24. Time to look in the mirror.
  25. This is “takes him a few years to get the program turned around” to you? Dude went 36-12 in the SEC and went to 2 sweet 16s in his first three years at Tennessee lol.
