Man, in all honesty I think losing Crean would keep us from losing transfers.

That's a really cool page, I didn't realize ESPN had that on its site. Thanks for sharing it! It would be a very welcome change to see our team consistently playing great defense. On the offensive side I'd like a coach who can create an offense that isn't reliant on us shooting lights out from 3 to function. Maybe a guy who uses post players well. We've gotten some good ones here recently but they seem to be underutilized a lot of the time.

If we lose the games and still keep the same coach it would really really suck. That would be the worst case scenario. I mean they don't deserve to win in the sense that no team really "deserves" to win. Both sides of fans are going to think their team deserves it for all their hardwork, but they have to go out and earn it during the actual game. Sorry I don't really know the right words to use to put together what I mean lol. I don't hope the kids on the team fail after they've worked their entire lives to get where they are now. They wanted to come to my school so I hope they have as much success as possible here. They all seem like great kids. When I say I think losing would be better for the long-term of the program I imagine them still being here with the new coach. I'm not hoping they lose so the next group of kids can come in and succeed, I'm hoping it happens so they can come back next year with a new (hopefully greatly improved) coach who can help them live out their college basketball dreams. I think that would be better for them than squeeking into the tournament and getting bounced the first weekend, and then coming back next year and having another ride on the Crean roller coaster. You're right about me not having kids though (I'm the same age as the guys on the team so thank god I don't) so I understand why our viewpoints on the matter are different. I guess I see it like this... Glass is going to have to make a decision soon because if he doesn't Crean is going to be recruiting players he's not under contract to coach for four years. If Crean manages to salvage the season and get us to the tournament and win a game or two, with the injuries we're dealing with, he's likely to get an extension. The time to make a choice is coming up soon and I'm really worried that he'll manage to do just enough to keep his job. On a side note, enjoy watching the game with your son tonight. Those are some great memories to make regardless of the final score.

No. No one deserves to win just because they work hard. I think a few times this year our guys felt like they deserved a win for showing up and they ended up getting embarrassed. You have to go out there and earn a win every game. However, they do deserve a coaching staff that puts them in the best possible position to win and right now they don't have that. Look man.. If you want Y, and X happening is the only way that Y happens, you realize that X is necessary. That doesn't mean that you want it to happen, just that you recognize that you won't ever get the end goal if it doesn't. I want Crean fired and replaced with a coach that can make us an elite program again. In order for that to happen, we have to lose some games. I don't want us to lose, but it has to happen if we want a new coach, there's no way around it. If we don't we're stuck being mediocre for the next 15-20 years.

I don't even know how to feel about games anymore. Do I root for a win knowing that each win is another step towards a Crean extension, or do I root for my favorite team to lose? It's a lose-lose. Barring transfers the vast majority of our team will be back next season. I personally see nothing wrong with a little short-term failure to get to long-term success. If Crean stays and these guys stay for 4 years of Crean coaching they're going to be making the same turnovers and committing the same defensive lapses in year 4 that they were in year 1. That would be a much greater disservice to these kids, imo, than 1 bad half of a Big 10 season.

Do these kids who bust their butts all summer not deserve the best coaching possible?

I hate comments like this. We're going to have to lose some games if we want the Crean roller coaster to be over. If Crean gets lucky, salvages the season, and maybe wins a game in the tournament he's probably going to get extended. Then we'll be right back in the same position next year, and the next, etc. It would never end. Is he really a bad fan for hoping for losses that will benefit the program long term? I'm down for whatever has to happen for Crean to be fired. If that's a whole bunch of losses to finish the season then so be it.

(2017) QB Nick Tronti to IU
Hoosierfan2017 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
He might not feel threatened by Tronti specifically, but the new coaches we brought in run a different system than Wilson did and it isn't suited to Lagow's style of play. We have several other QB's who fit that system so he might see the writing on the wall. Hopefully that motivates him to put in extra work this offseason. -

Fred Glass on the state of IU Athletics
Hoosierfan2017 replied to HoosierCoop's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'll be completely honest and admit that I don't care what he does for sports other than basketball and football. I completely understand that he's the athletic director for every team and sport at IU, but I'm worried about what he does for football and basketball. Basketball is what makes IU, IU, and at the end of the day how he is judged as an AD will be based on the state of the basketball program. With that said, as someone who went to a high school where the athletic director only cared about one sport and gave it almost all of his attention I appreciate his commitment to caring about IU athletics as a whole. I just wish he had our basketball program in a better place as well. -
??? I was replying to a post about Thomas Bryant. OG has nothing to do with my comment

Ahh okay. And it only gets harder from here on out... I just checked out Maryland's schedule and it looks like the rest of their season should be pretty easy as well. When we played them I wondered why they weren't ranked even though they only had 2 losses. Now it makes more sense. -

These are the non-conference home games Crean/Glass/whoever scheduled this year... None of those games did 1, 2, or 4, and Crean didn't use them to do #3. Hope College Bellarmine U Mass-Lowell Liberty Miss Valley State SIU Edwardsville SE Mizzou State Houston Baptist Delaware State Austin Peay
